After reviewing the Goalkeepers and Defenders, the third instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees midfielders come under the microscope.

Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve looked at the top ten midfielders for points per game in 2010/11 and analysed their scores in terms of reliability. While the likes of Rafael Van der Vaart impresses in his debut season, there’s plenty room for Florent Malouda -despite his overall haul of 186- to improve his consistency for Chelsea this upcoming season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

For cheap defensive option, Hughes is screaming out at me. 129, 113 & 136 points for last 3 seasons. There was a bit posted about him above but these stats seem to disprove that. Instead of telling me what's wrong with him, convince why the likes of Bramble, De Laet, Alcaraz etc are a better option.
I already have Lescott & Baines in a back 3 with Simpson on the bench.

I have Hughes, stick with him 😀

There's no such think as a guaranteed clean sheet for any team so with the lower pric bracket players it's best to just play the fixtures, don't put too many eggs in one basket and cross your fingers. Attacking defenders are good but tbh the points they get from goals or assists are few and far between that only a few make their price justifiable and you can't load your team with them at the expense of your midfield and attackers

SD - I don't mind if we finish below you, by one place in 17th, I will take just take survival again this season. I know how hard the second season in this league can be.

Just saying, with Kean as manager, you will not finish in the top half in a million years. I just think he's a rubbish manager and you will struggle.

I don't think this is unreasonable.

Samba, Nelsen, Olsson and Hoillett are good enough players, but no better than Parker, Noble, Ba and Hitzlsperger, and they couldn't stop Wrist Ham going down.

I wouldn't regard any team (with the exception of Norwich) relegation fodder, but there are a handful-or-so who are more than capable of falling through the trap-door. Blackburn are amongst that handful-or-so.

Tipping teams to be relegated is bloody difficult because you know there's going to be sackings.

What happens if Steve Kean gets sacked in October and Balckburn get in someone like O'Neill? or even someone like McCarthy or Warnock? suddenly the whole dynamic changes.

I remember tipping Bolton to go down when they appointed Sammy Lee to replace Allardyce, but he was sacked before he could complete the job.

I can't see what you are basing "he’s a rubbish manager" on? I've seen near enough all the games he's been in charge of and i'm still not sure if he's good enough or not so how can you be so sure? The guys been in charge for half a season, i think he deserves a chance.

It's no secret he's made gaffes in the media etc but I've been impressed with who's he's brought in so far and our attacking play has undoubtably improved. I don't think anyone at Rovers is convinced (and there are plenty who want him out now) but i think he should be given a fair shot.

With concerns over RVP playing I have made some adjustments:

RVP > Gervinho – I fancy Arsenal opening match so want exposure
Kompany > Lescott – City have good opening fixtures and I’ll run with Lescott until Toure returns

    What am I missing:

    Foster/ Ruddy
    Cole / Lescott / S Taylor / Orr / Alcaraz
    N’Zog / Silva / Malouda / Moses / Taarabt
    Gervinho/ Zamora / Rodallega

£2.5m in the bank to watch how the strikers fair over the first 2-3 GWs Could go for Nani now at expense of Taarabt then looking for a £4m midfielder....

    Cheers…

I guess you need to captain someone who can potentially bag a big haul, so malouda or rooney might give you the best probability of goals. Moses with a good opening fixture might be worth a gamble but I've been stung in the past by great pre season form not translating to fantasy prem points.

And yeah Silva is in great form, and Gervinho could set the prem on fire, but its probably Malouda for me out of that team.

It would need to be a choice between Gervinho or Malouda. However, I would now be able to afford Nani instead of Taarabt then looking for a £4m midfielder....

also think the lampard deep role talk is very premature. if he plays with mikel and ramires he'll have enough freedom

im thinking that too, but worried he will pick up less if he ends up placing a less advanced role
