After reviewing the Goalkeepers and Defenders, the third instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees midfielders come under the microscope.

Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve looked at the top ten midfielders for points per game in 2010/11 and analysed their scores in terms of reliability. While the likes of Rafael Van der Vaart impresses in his debut season, there’s plenty room for Florent Malouda -despite his overall haul of 186- to improve his consistency for Chelsea this upcoming season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Anybody else hate picking players for the bench in fear that they will dominate - eg. Zubar for Hull on your bench and he scores TWICE!

I think you need one big midfield. Preferable two of Nani, Malouda, Silva, or even VDV.

You probably only need one of Baines/A. Cole and one of Rooney/RVP

No, you need to take Baines or cole out for a very cheap defender and have at least 1 viable captain in your midfield.

the man has played most of every pre season game and played well.

kalou is better on the right, ramires in better on the right or even central, benayoun is central. Sturridge is out and still doesn't compete for maloudas spot. Where in that does Malouda not start? Mikel is injured and so will force at least on of those deeper to play with Fat Frank.

Too much money spent on your defense at first glance. Downgrade Vidic or A. Cole and get another mid-fielder like Silva, Malouda, Downing, Dempsey

Defense too strong IMO and a resultant weak mid, but that's just my opinion. I prefer a stronger mid. I would oust vidic especially given their tough start and use that to upgrade.

tbh I looked at it and said WOW too much in defense... but in your defense (npi), you've still got 3 players in midfield and attack who are possible captains and some other good choices. May be going for Sinclair and Taarabt is a gamble but it could pay off. I'm putting Brunt in but not until at least GW3 Man UTD, Chelsea 1st 2 games.

          I think it's like winning a pk.
If your player draws a foul which results in a freekick which leads to a direct goal then your player bags the assist pts. Doesn't apply if player that draws the foul also takes the free kick.

Hard to say at this point. RVP injury doubt. Drogba slight selection doubt. Nani mild up-for-the-fight-away-from-home doubt. But if they all play and perform they should score more short and long term.

I'm glad you've asked this question Walkman as i too am struggling with it!
I'd def go for Nani at 10m to solve the midfielder choise out of that lot.
As for the Baines/Cole headache, Chelsea do have far better clean sheet potential at the beginning of the season....after much tinkering i managed to get Cech in goal and Baines in my defense to cover both the potential.
Adding Baines to my team really affected the whole balance of it at 8m but he's too good an asset to leave out, he pretty much acts as a midfielder with clean sheet potential thrown in!

I was thinking of starting the season with Cole since their opening fixtures (I also have Cech in goal...)

I heard rumors that Sneijder might be signed and that will def effect Nanis play. I am waiting to see the results. If he is signed I cant pick Nani cuz psychologically he will not be at the game!

Nope, they already loaned him out last season. Can't see him being happy about doing it again. He'll probably play with Lukaku, and they won't be directly competing for places.

Champ! Long time no talk mate, how's it been?

Got a quick dilemma, and I got some great feedback from you last season, mind giving me a shout?

    A. RVP, Rooney, Sinclair
    or
    B. Carroll, Bent, Nani

Had A for almost two weeks, but Community Shield and injuries have changed a lot. RVP is being his usual fragile self, Rooney playing deep, and didn't realize Sinclair's fixtures were so unfavorable.
B is very balanced though, all 3 are great armband options. Banking on the Carroll + Downing combo to be lethal, I like Villa's fixtures and Bent's on spot kicks, and no explanation needed for Nani after the weekend. I lack flexibility for future transfers (to get a 12.0 striker) with this option though.

Mind giving me your two cents?
Anyone else is free to answer as well 🙂

Better fixtures, can switch easily switch to Nani once Man U's fixtures clean up.

Bent is unsure cause that game might be postponed...
I like Rooney more than Nani.
      But, thats just me...

      Can you help me?
      A – RvP + Drogba + Nani
      B – Rooney + Carroll + Malouda
But for a long distance, not just for first GW.

      Hey mate how's life?
I too like the 2nd option. Nani's form has convinced me to put him in and lose rooney. Like you say it makes it harder to bring in a top striker but if you don't start with rooney you won't be bringing him in any time soon due to fixtures. So key to option 2 imo is have a plan for being able to get rvp in gw4.
Chelsea attack looks pretty essential for gw's 2&3, are you thinking malouda? If not it could be worth having some change lying around so bent/carroll can become torres/drogba if one starts looking a viable option.
My 2 cents, good luck for your season mate.

Cheers mate, long time no talk.
        Yes I've gone with Malouda.
Man U, Chelsea, City, Villa, and Pool coverage at the moment
No Arsenal, but thinking about a plan to get RVP if needed over 2 GWs.

Off on vacation tomorrow, so sticking with this it looks like-
        Given Ruddy
        ColeA Kompany Bramble Orr Simpson
        Malouda Nani Silva Moses Ephraim
        Carroll Bent Holt

Very happy with it! Internet access looks unlikely before the deadline, so hope it works out...any thing I've missed?

Not as good? That's where your wrong mate.
Is certainly riskier in terms of starts though. The other advantage is at 5.0 if he doesn't work out you can relegated him to the bench until there's no other pressing matters. If Sinclair or taraabt flop they're too pricey to leave sitting around on the bench and you'll have to waste a trade fixing the error.

For the last season, it is surprising to see that Newcastle topped the number of goals from Set-pieces. It was a big number (20 goals). No wonder J. Barton had 9 assists (about 50% of those goals went through him). At 6 m and without Nolan, I think Barton will get more control of the game (if he stays with the club).

Holt scores all sorts of goals so I think he'll be ok. He has an aerial presence and the smaller teams always try to make the most of set pieces when they're battling against better teams. He should be useful...... Then again, nothing's set in stone. Tough decision.
