After reviewing the Goalkeepers and Defenders, the third instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees midfielders come under the microscope.

Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve looked at the top ten midfielders for points per game in 2010/11 and analysed their scores in terms of reliability. While the likes of Rafael Van der Vaart impresses in his debut season, there’s plenty room for Florent Malouda -despite his overall haul of 186- to improve his consistency for Chelsea this upcoming season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Not sure about A or B. Same cost combos... Ruddy looks weakest, but is Hennessy nailed-on?

Just seen some youtube videos of grant holt and scott sinclair

sinclair: sorry but he will do poorly in the premier league. his goals are coming off the wing against poor fullbacks doing a one-two with a striker then he has acres of space. there is no way premiership teams will let him do that. thats all he does

holt: I think he will do really well. he looks like a donkey to look at, but he's good and makes space. he links people up, good at poaching, scores good finishes. he do well, not amazing but he could end up with a sly 15 goals.

holt's record is 1 in every 2 games which up there with the best.

53 goals from 92 apps for norwich in the championship which has got better the last couple seasons

Funnily enough, I think the reverse.

Don't think Holt is prem class tbh. Overweight and slow and has played all his career in the lower leagues, a bit like McKail-Smith.

At 31 I doubt he's going to offer anything that Prem defenders haven't seen before and age is against him suddenly blossoming into a top flight striker.

Sinclair is young, pacy and ready to step up. Simeon Jackson was an unsung hero for Norwich last season..

Agreed. I don't rate Sinclair at all. He scored 19 goals last year in the Championship but only managed 2 assists. On the other hand, Holt scored 21 goals and amassed 14 assists.

Arsenal could do with someone like Holt, although they'll never sign him since he's too old and not a pretty boy who likes to do that triangular passing that Wenger is so keen on.

Holt actually shoots on site most of the time, which is what I'd want a striker to do. Then he scores, or gets an assist from a bad parry out from a goalie who can't cope with his cannon of a left foot, or misses.

But hey. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fits right into Wenger's plans, which seem to be focussed on the future rather than getting in a proven experienced CB and another forward who shoots at goal and actually winning something for a change.

Mini-rant over. Move along now. Nothing to see here. 🙂

I'd change Distin to someone cheaper who will rotate well with SImpson(A Sunderland or Wolves defender). Not sure about Schwarzer AND Given.
Tiote wont score you many points at all so you need to downgrade maybe Etherington to a 6.0 mid like Ohara or Sinclair or even Hoolahan. If you do get Hoolahan Id change Holt to Graham or DJ Campbell.

I am going down the Schwarzer/Given combo, as they really rotate well at the start of the season, although ultimately, the 1.0m spent on this better combo will be lost elsewhere.

I never read it but ages ago somebody suggested the Racing Post...most newspapers will be almost 100% superficial garbage...zonal marking is just outstanding but only covers a limited number of matches-you could spend many enjoyable hours reading the old stuff though...if you've not been following this site through the summer you could learn plenty from the old articles which were mainly good quality

My theory is, unless you need the money for the following GW invest now and then you can double transfer the extra money out without a hit 2 GWs later. No point in having it sit if you dont plan on using it.

The only way to have that much banked and a decent team would be to have cheap forwards and wait to see if Tevez/RVP/Drogba/Torres (lol)/Rooney show they are the best option. Or in midfield have another 5-6m player instead of a Nani level player.

But by waiting you almost guarantee you'll be playing catch up and maybe give everyone a head start. At least one of those will get a goal or two I'm sure. You won't see anything conclusive after 1 GW I don't think anyway.

This is a simple one for me for the reason you say, Suarez may noy start. It's easier to downgrade Carroll than to upgrade Suarez and you get half a mil back which will come in handy.

I'd say Carroll for GWs 1 & 2 and then transfer in Suarez just to be safe. Its not like Carroll is a bad pick anyways tho, might be worth hanging on to (unless you need the extra .5).

Similar question. I need a couple of 4.5 defenders that rotate well (to join Kompany and A Cole). Any suggestions?

Will I see the ultimate RMT today?

Will I see the perfect gk combo?
Will I see a defence not laden with expensive defenders?
Will I see a midfield unblighted by budgitos?
Will I see the perfect front 3?

Will I find my fantasy soul brother?

    😕

    Currently have:

    Given (Ruddy)
De Laet - Kompany - ACole - Bramble - Simpson
    Silva - NZog - Malouda - Moses - Taarbt
    Carroll - Bent - Holt

Maybe too many Villa players, I'd get Rooney by: Bramble -> Hughes, Taarbt -> Tiote and Bent -> Rooney. What do you think?

Not enough solid captain choices in that lineup for me.

Guys like RVP, Rooney and Lamps all give you a solid captain choice regardless of fixtures.

Everyone can afford at least one of those in their team and, in my opinion, its worth it to have a reliable captain choice.

There are so many members here with the old URL to their team.
After fantasy.premierleague.com site was revamped this summer, the URL is different.
OLD URL: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=xxxxx (x is your team id)
    NEW URL : http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/xxxxx/history/

Maybe this needs to get promoted better as many members just leave the old URL from last season.

Is Sessegnon a must have? My midfield is currently Nani, Silva, Malouda, Moses, Taarabt. Was planning on doing Silva -> N'Zogbia next GW, so I can't figure out on how to fit Sessegnon into my midfield.

Guys, some help please. Trying to decide the following; Silva or Downing for my final midfield slot. I like the fact that City have Swansea at home and Silva's form has been good pre season but, I had Downing in my team towards the end of last season and he was Mr consistent. Seems that most on here have Silva. Other mids are Taarabt/Malouda/Sess/Moses. Any thoughts appreciated.
