After reviewing the Goalkeepers and Defenders, the third instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees midfielders come under the microscope.

Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve looked at the top ten midfielders for points per game in 2010/11 and analysed their scores in terms of reliability. While the likes of Rafael Van der Vaart impresses in his debut season, there’s plenty room for Florent Malouda -despite his overall haul of 186- to improve his consistency for Chelsea this upcoming season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Anyone else taking a punt on Dunn? If he gets injured I will just sub him out, worth a risk I think

Could be inspired. He's shown he's got the fpl goods before.
Does he play off the striker these days though?

I don't see how my bench is crap compared to most teams out there, De Laet and Elokobi rotate extremely well so if i need to play one of them it'll be fine, sinclair/moses/campbell are good and moreira will rarely be played and when he is going to be played he is at home

Hi guys, first time here. I would appreciate any thoughts on my team.

    Given, Al-Habsi (typical !)
    Alcaraz. Kompany, Jagielka (Simpson, Woodgate)
    Silva, Dempsey, N'Zog, Nani (Vuckic)
    Dzeko, Bent, Rodallega

Thinking of gettin Malouda for Dempsey(not too keen on him for long term) and chucking Rodallega after GW1.
Any good choice for someone cheaper than Rodallega.

    1 Mil in the bank

I really dont understand the love for silva over yaya toure! Yes silva is a class player but he plays so deep and scores very few goals? Hes 1.5m more than toure and there points per game last year were the exact same?

Because Yaya played virtually every minute for City last season whereas Silva played 500 mins less. Silva will get alot more game time this season and will get double figures in gaosl/assists. And Silva played out wide at the start of last season and moved into the hole towards the end of the season where he averaged 4.7 PPG. Anyone considering Yaya at 8m is just mad.

True but so is the whole Fantasy Football assumptions. I'm basing the prediction on the basis of form and performance at the end of last season and the pre season. Silva is now City's main playmaker and everything goes through him. In the abscenece of Tevez, who always dropped too deep, Silva has been given more space. Comparing what Yaya will do next year will be minimal tbh.

For 8m mark N'Zog, Dempsey and Downing all represent the potential for much higher points, and if Modric moves to Chelsea you'd have another.

I actually thought toures best performances came when tevez wasnt playing, i remember west ham away he got 2 when tevez was injured! i Just dont think silva will score that many more points than toure to cancel out the extra 1.5m!

That's the gamble, but I wouldn't be considering Yaya. I would be looking at the other players I mentioned in relation to Silva. I think Silva is going to have an amazing season this year, but it is only my opinion, and may be biased as a City fan.

Difficult to say mate. Suarez can get a few assists and is quite infuential on the feild, whereas Caroll boom at the back of the net, Suarez may carry more BP'S than Caroll.

I apologise for the following "rant" but I feel it needs to be said.

Having followed FFS for a good few years (mostly quietly) , and played FPL since it started, I have not found a better website for insight, analysis and coment on the game. It is number one.
However, these "analysing Consistency" articles are not up the usual high standards, and appear to be a case of quantity over quality.
This contrived "percentage of games ppg beaten" is a poor statistic for contributing to any game that involves transfers.
The key to a good FPL score is having the right players at the right time, finding the purple patches, playing the fixtures.
It is this weekly interaction ,and the banter that accompanies it that keeps us playing.
Not leaving a team untouched for the season.
Last season's high scorers took advantage of Malouda's start, Walcott's mid season and Kuyt's finish.
Player's good fixtures, added starting certainty due to teammates injury/suspension, extra set piece action, Double Gameweeks, OOP, all contribute to "score peaks" which make perfect captain options.
But, also increase the PPG and therfore increase the number of average games which fall below that level. Therefore opposing the whole basis of this contrived set of articles.

This season, I will pick Malouda at the start, bring in VP at gw4 [ if fit 🙂 ], consider Kuyt while StevieG is injured, and generally make transfers to have captain choices. I will have to get rid aswell to bring in new players. Young will not be a 38wk keeper for me.

Other people may disagree, but I feel this needed to be said.
But I will keep following FFS all season because the majority of their articles would score more highly than this.
    Usually Very Consistent.

    Given (Ruddy)
    Lescott, Alcaraz, Hughes (Orr/Simpson)
    Nani, Silva, Dempsey, Moses (Sinclair)
    Bent, Carroll, Rodallega

    - $1.5m left to switch either Carroll -> Drogba/Torres for GW2 depending on GW1

    OR

    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany, Alcaraz, A.Cole (Orr/Simpson)
    Nani, Silva, N’zogbia, Moses (Sinclair)

No, but a player who stands a high chance of earning clean sheet points whilst being a goal threat converts an average point haul into a good one.

Have 2.5m to spend. Cant see how I can use it to improve this team for gw1.

    Given | Al-Habsi
    Bains | Richards | Gabbidon | Bramble | Simpson
    Nani | Downing | Taarabat | Moses | Walters
    Carroll | Dzeco | Zamora

2.5m feels like too much to have in the bank though.

    Given/ Al Hasbi
A Cole, Kompany, Hughes (Orr, Simpson)
    Nani, Silva, Nzogbia, Moses (Tiote)
    Rooney, Carroll, DJ Campbell

If Saurez is fir i might stick him in for Caroll, then try and downgrade a defender by 0.5. This will allow me to get Rodallega in for DJ Campbell. Not sure my subs are that great, but they are cheap.Any other tips?

Given will play most games in goal for you & I'm sure that the best options are Ruddy & Kenny, if you look into the fixtures. Any difficult game for villa is usually backed up by a decent fixture for Norwich or QPR...Saying that though. My GK rotation is Hennessy/Schwarzer :/
