Leighton Baines remains a doubt for Everton. Angel Di Maria is fit for Man United’s trip to Arsenal. The Gunners welcome back Olivier Giroud, Aston Villa face a central defensive crisis, West Ham have worries over Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing, while Vincent Kompany returns to training for City.

Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta are both in contention for Arsenal’s home clash with United, though Arsene Wenger has admitted “it’s just a question of how ready they are”. Earlier this morning, the Arsenal boss confirmed Danny Welbeck will be assessed later today after picking up a hamstring knock in midweek and went on to say he doesn’t think Theo Walcott will be available. Alexis Sanchez will also be assessed after arriving back late from international duty with Chile.

Villa are bracing themselves for an injury crisis in central defence ahead of Monday’s visit of Southampton. Paul Lambert has confirmed that Philippe Senderos is ruled out with a calf complaint, whilst Ron Vlaar and Nathan Baker are both “struggling” and almost certain to miss out. Alan Hutton is back for the Midlands outfit, though, after recovering from an ankle injury.

Sean Dyche remains hopeful Scott Arfield and Nathaniel Chalobah will be available for Burnley. Arfield picked up a knock in training earlier in the week, whilst Chalobah was forced off on England Under-21 duties in midweek.

Roberto Martinez has doubts over seven players ahead of Everton’s home clash with West Ham. The Toffees boss has confirmed Leighton Baines remains “touch and go” to face Sam Allardyce’s side, whilst Seamus Coleman (Achilles), James McCarthy, Kevin Mirallas (both hamstring), Darron Gibson and Steven Pienaar (both knee) will also be assessed. Gareth Barry remains unlikely to recover in time from an ankle injury sustained in Gameweek 11.

Steve Bruce has confirmed Allan McGregor, Nikica Jelavic and Michael Dawson have trained all week and are expected to be available for Sunday’s clash with Spurs. Curtis Davies has stepped up his recovery from a back problem and returned to training yesterday for the Tigers.

Midfielder Dean Hammond misses out for Leicester this weekend, though Nigel Pearson has revealed Liam Moore (illness), Wes Morgan (foot) and Ritchie de Laet (knock) are all available for selection.

Vincent Kompany has returned to training with City, though reports indicate he only has an outside chance of making the home clash with Swansea.

Angel Di Maria and David de Gea are available for United’s trip to Arsenal, whilst Michael Carrick is expected to recover from a groin problem in time for tomorrow evening’s encounter. Louis van Gaal confirmed Daley Blind is unavailable and is set for scans in 10 days’ time and Luke Shaw remains a doubt after being forced off on international duty in midweek. Radamel Falcao is sidelined for at least another two weeks for the Red Devils with an ongoing calf complaint.

Alan Pardew has confirmed Steven Taylor is “a big doubt” to face QPR at home, with the Magpies also missing Fabricio Coloccini, Cheick Tiote and Rolando Aarons.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed West Ham will assess Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing after the duo picked up back and knee problems over the international break. The Hammers boss also revealed Andy Carroll is ready to start if selected, though is not 100% match fit.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

How many people like to double up on defenders as opposed to having a jigsaw spread defence?
Are you happy when your attackers face your defenders as you might pick up points each way?

I'm stuck on going with Krul and Dummett or keeping the latter on the bench as security - think I'm a latter category player...

I'll be honest I rarely expect my defenders to keep cleanies, particularly this season - more of a happy bonus. So when my attackers play them I am more upset if they don't score goals...

Can be good but I need a very good reason to do it. Got to have both nice fixtures and be on good form for me to consider it.

It's not an ideal situation but one that comes up every so often. I won't change my decision of whether to start a player based on if they are in a matchup against another one of my players.

Newcastle's fixtures turn sour in a few weeks time so I wouldn't double up.

Yeah - I think at the moment only CHE or SOT defs are worth the go (or were in SOT case).

I just got lucky having Dummett as he is now fairly nailed on - but the perfect bench guy...

I started with double Stoke which didn't go well, but switched to double Saints and that worked every week. I'm not against it, especially if they're cheap as you then have the chance to bench one if needs be.

Costa, all day. Proven point aquirer vs flashy "waiting to explode". If you want safety, go with Costa. Want to "gamble", go with Hazard.

This is actually pretty interesting. Fellaini has been looking better, and it appears he has nudged out Herrera for a starting position. United have better fixtures and are the better side. Spurs are bad, and while Chadli have been getting the points, he hasnt played well most of the season. Fwiw, i own Chadli and have for a long time.

Impossible to say. If you have a freak amount of good luck you could still win it from way way back. But realistically, the winner is going to be someone who is currently in the top 1k-5k now I reckon.

I finished 600th a couple of years back. I peaked at 90th in March/April but then started taking hits to protect my ML lead.

I don't remember where I was at this stage but it wasn't high, I'd say it was probably 20k - 50k. I got into the top 5k just after Christmas that year. So a late surge is possible, for sure.

Surges are possible for sure to get into the top 1K. The gap between 1st and 1K grows during the season.

I was genuinely looking up around March time - I got excited. My ML rival never went away though. Needed the Aguero last minute winner v QPR (as captain) to be sure I'd won.

I hear that - finished 6k odd last year but had a guy right on my tail in ML and it turned into a game of chess with him to the detriment of my rank. Cash beats rank for me 🙂

Yeah that's it. I remember he had Cisse when he went on his post-Christmas run and I tried to avoid getting him in but had to in the end to shut the guy down.

It was funny in my first season - my rival then did 5 transfers one week late on to try and get close to me only to see I'd done the same 5!

No wonder I only finished 200k!

    Bertrand+Welbeck to Terry+Austin for -4?

Just do the Welbeck one. Villa dont score, and Southampton are better defensively than Chelsea atm/so far this season.

But for this transfer to break even Southampton have to concede without Bertrand beeing offensively involved and Chelsea have to keep a clean sheet. Its just not a smart move, save it for next gw.

            Im thinking long term
Just think that Terry will outscore any South def until Jan WC by at least 10 points
Short term wise you are absolutely right

Thats good advice but I will also want to change Tadic next week for sure and maybe even Bego
So with those 4 for transfera in mind maybe its best to do two times -4

    Is Austin near a rise?

    Thinking pelle to Austin -4

So can fund Moore to terry.

Or just go Moore-aspz for a free

I think I can hold on to my FT this week that should allow me to have Hazard, Fab and Costa next week for a free by shifting Schneiderlin for a cheapie and ditching ADM. Too much?

Dont know about both Fabs and Hazard. Dont think Chelsea score enough goals to justify three offensive players.

Its another one of those where you should pick up some points from the bunch - rather than working out the main man. Gamble v Security...

    Heaton (Mannone)
    Chambers Clyne Duff (Wilson Wisdom)

    Aguero Costa[c] Welbeck

    2 FT and £1.2 ITB.

I have Baines, Downing and Sakho. I'm hoping one of the WHU boys makes it. However, if not, and I downgrade Chambers to Duff, I can do:

    Sakho > Austin
    Downing > Chadli

Never owned Chadli, although he seems to keep on delivering. Anyone have a preference between the two transfers?
