634x258 Fixtures

After taking a look at those clubs with kind upcoming schedules yesterday evening, we turn our attentions to those with some tough fixtures to follow. Trouble could be brewing for the Tyne-Wear duo, whilst the Saints’ recent rise to prominence is set to be put to the test.

Sunderland

“frisking

Unbeaten in their last three, the Black Cats will need to retain that recent resilience to navigate a tricky fixture list. Gus Poyet’s side entertain Chelsea, Man City and West Ham in the next four – the three highest scoring away sides in the league so far.

With a trip to Liverpool also to consider in the next four, the Wearsiders will surely remain off Fantasy radars for now. At the back, Costel Pantilimon has earned 14 points in three starts since taking over from Vito Mannone and will at least offer save point potential, whilst Steven Fletcher faces a tough task to continue the form which has brought four goals and an assist in his last six appearances.

Stoke

“frisking

Last weekend’s home defeat to Burnley is hardly ideal preparation for what’s to follow. With his injury-hit defence conceding in each of the last six and key winger Victor Moses out for up to eight weeks, Mark Hughes has his work cut out to steer Stoke up the table over the next few matches.

The Potters will be looking for Bojan to maintain the form that has earned him a goal, assist and four bonus points in the last two matches, but with showdowns against Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton in the next six Gameweeks alone, Hughes is afforded little reason for festive cheer right now.

Newcastle

“frisking

The league’s form side have now won five on the spin and collected four clean sheets over that period but whether they can prevail over an evil fixture schedule is perhaps debatable.

Alan Pardew’s side travel to West Ham, Arsenal and United in the next six, and with Chelsea paying visit, in addition to a derby showdown with Sunderland, it leaves only a Gameweek 14 trip to Burnley looking full of promise. Budget option Paul Dummett and raiding right-back Daryl Janmaat may struggle to serve up the defensive returns, whilst further up the field, the cut-price duo Moussa Sissoko and Ayoze Perez could have their current form curtailed.

Also Be Wary Of…

Southampton
Sitting second in the table after 13 rounds of fixtures, Ronald Koeman’s side now present us with the classic case of form against fixtures. A defence that has conceded a single goal in their last five now squares up to City, Arsenal, United and Everton in the next five – Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand are amongst the four most popular defenders in the Fantasy Premier League game but their owners may find returns slowing over this period, with many looking for a way out. The erratic Dusan Tadic, with eight blanks in 12 appearances, and the off-form Graziano Pelle – without a shot on target in the last four and just one booking shy of a ban – may well be set for an exodus as the returns dry up.

Hull
The short-term schedule is unrelenting on Steve Bruce’s out-of-sorts side, with Hull travelling to United, Everton and Chelsea in the next four Gameweeks. With just one goal and a single point to their name over the last four, the Tigers will need to dig deep to get anything from those matches – Bruce will be hoping the fit-again pair Nikica Jelavic and Michael Dawson can make a difference at both ends of the pitch but the KC pickings look slim to none right now.

Crystal Palace
Victories against the likes of Everton and Liverpool show that, on their day, Neil Warnock’s side can mix it with the best of them. Palace will need to carry on from the form that swept aside the Reds last Sunday, though, as they now face trips to Swansea, Spurs and City, in addition to the visit of Southampton over the next six. Home encounters with Villa and Stoke still look promising for key man Yannick Bolasie, whilst Mile Jedinak’s dead-ball duties continue to keep the Eagles skipper in contention as a valid budget option.

    Krul / Heaton
    Ivan / Chambers / Wilson / Moore / Wisdom
    Alexis / ADM / Fab / Downing / Tadic
    Costa / Pelle / Campbell

    2 FTs, 0 ITB
    for free
    A) Wilson & Tadic -> Yun & Siggy
    B Wilson & Pelle -> Yun & Bony / Austin
    C) Tadic & Pelle -> Boyd & Rooney (play Wisdom away @ Arsenal)
    for hits
    D) Wilson, Pelle & Tadic- > Yun, Rooney & Boyd (leaves cash for Rooney -> Aguero in 2 weeks) -4
    E) Pelle, Tadic & Campbell -> Rooney, Boyd & Austin (play Wisdom away @ Arsenal) -4

    F) Wilson, Tadic, Pelle & Campbell -> Yun, Boyd, Zamora & Aguero -8

          11 years, 2 months ago

You can and will, I'm sure 🙂 I just see enough changes I'd want to make in front of busy fixtures that I'd prefer to wildcard it. It's really hard to prioritize that lot as you have two non-playing defenders which is obviously not good and also Pelle and Tadic which is also not good but at least they are starters even if their point outlook is bleak at the moment. And then there is Frazier who may or may not have lost his place, but is rubbish sort of anyway. That said, I like option B best to Bony. No hit this week I don't think. Probably take a hit next week.

Forster and McCarthy are my GK options as of right now. Also have Clyne in as defender, so with Soton's fixtures turning bad, I was looking at the possibility of removing them.

Can you just do Pelle to Bony? If not, you can ship him down for Austin and then do Forster to Courtois next week. Or, if you want a cheeky shout, You can do a Forster trade this week and do Pelle to Benteke next week 😀

You could actually look to get Heaton as your 2nd keeper. His rotation with Forster until GW23 is phenomenally good. I have both in my draft league team somehow and it looks epic on paper.

And getting Forster-Heaton is actually 0.5 cheaper than Courtois-4.0 😉

Check the ticker if you don't believe me. The rotation is PERFECT!

Yeah, I mean, re-watch their last Villa game and you probably won't have a second thought about cutting them loose.

            Yeah for sure.

Guess how many shots on target Pelle has in his last 4 games (against STO hul LEI avl)? I'll give you a clue: its less than 1. 😛

    Stuff it!

    12 point hit done!!! 😮

Got Sanchez, Austin, Naylor and Siggy plus Yun in that lot. And you know what? For the first time in ages I actually like looking at my team again.

    Night peeps. Sleep well.

Worth it. Considering a -8 personally, and potentially another hit next week. Too many question marks in my team right now

That was my problem, Rick. I only had 2 defenders playing last week and there's no way I can go into this stretch of 8 games in 34 days with that.

Plus, held on to Sterling and Tadic too long all the while going without Sanchez.

Decided to take a bigger hit to keep Costa - Chelsea's fixtures too good to ignore and I have enough bench cover to live with his impending 1 game suspension.

I've delayed getting Sanchez for too long and not going to let him rise to £11m this time.

I actually did a 12 pointer about this time last season and it changed my season for the better. Here's hoping....

          Nice to hear it!

I'm actually not that bothered about Costa. I think Hazard at 1m cheaper is the one to get with his underlying stats, and I think Austin and Ings both present better value than Costa with the fixtures and stats they have.

I'm looking at Pelle>Ings and Tadic>Hazard (-8) this week, which will leave me 2.0itb to use in GW14 on either Chambers>Chelsea-def, or alternatively use it on Oscar>Yaya (those City fixtures look amazing), or if Downing is injured long-term then Downing>7.8 (eg. Eriksen) could become an option.

That -8 would give me this team, which I think is really solid and has some nice coverage over the key fixture period when players get rotated or suspended.

Don't post much here, but is Mark about?

I am looking at the Sammy Ameobi details in the members section and he is classified as forward yet in FPL he is a midfielder. In the week he scored a goal he got 6 points when surely it should have been 7? Is this major cock up by FPL?

I only ask as I am comparing Boyd / Ameobi and Sanchez (Villa) for a cheap 4.4 mid.

There's two Ameobi's aren't there? Maybe that's the reason its confusing for everyone!

Shola and Sammy Ameobi... one is a forward and one is a mid...

He only played 45 minutes in the game he scored in hence only getting six rather than seven points

My bad !!! Though he should be in mids on the player comparison bit of this site though.

You check it out though - doe'nt look right and Shola is not in Premier league any more anyways???

On FPL Sammy Ameobi is mid yet scored only 4 points for a goal - should have been 5.

I think Baines, simply because he's 3m cheaper and will score as much

    Adrian (Forster)
    Baines, Chambers, Hutton (Saylor, Bertrand)
    Chadli, Downing, Sanchez, ADM (Boyd)
    Agüero, Diego Costa, Austin

0 FT (Already did McCarthy to Adrían)

Wouldn't like to have both Chadli and Downing right now, they'd be what I'd change.

Bony + Downing seems good if downing is fit considering their fixtures.

Oscar and Austin could be another option

GK and Chambers are issues. Rest looks good.

      Perhaps ADM>downgrade and Chambers>Baines
