It’s “squeaky bum time” in the ScoutCast studio as Granville continues to chip away at my previously “unassailable” mini-league lead. My co-host stumbled through an injury-strewn Gameweek 12 with the honours, leaving me trailing and worrying that he’ll have clawed it all back by Christmas.

Pressing on, we flog the Hazard vs Fabregas debate once again and run the rule over a cast of budget strikers, desperately searching for the optimum way to spend the two transfers burning holes in our pockets.

We asses the week’s transfer bandwagons, look ahead to Gameweek 13 and take time out to tease Jonty on his Di Maria u-turn. We then combine “powers” to terrifying effect and prepare the ScoutCast XI for their Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round, having flexed its muscles to the tune of a 59-point Gameweek 12. Intimidating stuff.

Lubricate your hinges via this link, or bathe in WD40 via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What move would you prefer to do to help finance Tadic>Hazard?

    A) Clyne>Caulker
    B) Pelle>Ings

    Krul Begovic
    Baines Clyne Chambers Naylor Wisdom
    Sanchez Siggy Oscar Downing Tadic
    Aguero Austin Pelle

Ings & Clyne out score Pelle & Caulker?

Ings and Clyne have scored more points so far this season, even with Ings missing half the games.

QPR haven't looked like keeping CS's, Clyne has scored at both ends.

Ings has form and fixtures, Pelle has struggled recently.

            Good points.

QPR's defense at home is more solid than you'd think... if you ignore their tough fixtures against liverpool and city, they've actually done alright:

            Hull 0-1
            Sunderland 0-0
            Villa 2-0

...And now they have 4 of the worst attacks in the league coming up in their next 4 home games.

I'm fine with playing Pelle one more GW against City (or even benching him tbh), and then finding a replacement in GW14 instead. I'm not keen on bringing in Ings for a hit if it wouldn't really improve my first XI immediately (as I'd have to bench someone like Downing for example). 8 forward headache lol

Its certainly not as obvious as O'Shaughnessy suggests.

That's why I don't like the 8 forward approach, I think it's a waste of resources. When I started playing, I did it all the time and I just benched points all the time, goals are pretty unpredictable, especially amongst lesser players.

I don't like QPR defence personally, but I'd just go cheap and get Yun over Caulker and spend the money elsewhere.

I've benched Fab, Oscar, Tadic, and Siggy x2, already this season, and all of those gave blanks... so I'm not averse to benching players for bad fixtures.

The 8 fwd approach saved me in GW12 when Downing was injured, as i put out a full team regardless, while others were forced to play boyd, marney, etc.

I generally like to be well covered, and I think Siggy+Downing+Austin are cheap enough to allow it. I might also be doing Pelle>Ings or another cheapie, further justifying the approach.

You call it luck, I call it analysis of stats and fixtures 😉

Been lucky about 90% of the time... except with my GK selections. Begovic has messed everything up!

Thanks, appreciate it. That's sort of my thinking too.

Getting Ings also feels abit short-term too, since he only has 3 good fixtures and then crap ones for a while. I'll want to get someone in like Bony or Sakho who can be good for 5-6 gw's instead.

I'd get rid of Pelle. Useless the last few weeks!
You have a strong enough bench to bench Clyne until he gets through these tough fixtures.

Yes I do, but I need to find another 0.3 to get Hazard this week, so either Clyne or Chambers have to go... and I'd rather have Chambers+Caulker than Clyne+Yun really.

Never thought I'd see the day... he's been amazing for me this season!

Though I can't really justify keeping him for the next 12 GW's with that run of fixtures when I have others who can cover his fixtures with better games. CS's always come first.

If I were in your position I would probably do:

      Pelle>Zamora
      Tadic>Hazard

      or

      Pelle>Rooney
      Tadic>Marney

        Good ideas!

        I'm on 0FT's btw, with 2.1itb 🙂

I prefer to keep 8 functional forwards though. It really bailed me out when Downing was injured in GW12 and with rotation and players dropping like flies in the last 10 days I don't want to go with Zamora or Marney tbh. I'm happy rotating Austin/Siggy/Downing if necessary as their tough away fixtures rotate nicely.

Fair enough. Sigurdsson is fixture proof so I find that problematic. I hate seeing my bench players outscore my starting XI 🙁

Nobody is fixture-proof. Siggy is also significantly worse in away games.

Fwiw, I've benched Fabregas, Tadic, Siggy x2, and Oscar, and all of those games each of them blanked while their replacement scored better than them. Fortune favours the brave!

He's scored or assisted just 17% of Chelsea's goals. Explosive but not consistent enough yet. For me, the consistency of Aguero/Costa wins out for the captaincy, even though Hazard is capable of having GW's that outscore them both.

      1. Piggs Boson
        • 14 Years

Looks like a short form burst, probably worth getting if you can't afford Alexis IMO

    Alright lads just got in,

Any news on Baines post match from Roberto? Or will we have to wait for the Everton presser tomorrow.!?

He's been above 100% for a few days but for some reason he's not rising. I don't know why...

Tempted to bring Ivanovic in for Clyne. Owning Baines and Ivanovic with a solid front 7 could be fun this month.

Same. I'm mildly worried about the 3 yellows though. Plus Terry is a whole 1m cheaper and still has a decent goal threat. Tough choice...

Ivanovic was close to scoring last game. Hazard played him in nicely!
