It’s “squeaky bum time” in the ScoutCast studio as Granville continues to chip away at my previously “unassailable” mini-league lead. My co-host stumbled through an injury-strewn Gameweek 12 with the honours, leaving me trailing and worrying that he’ll have clawed it all back by Christmas.

Pressing on, we flog the Hazard vs Fabregas debate once again and run the rule over a cast of budget strikers, desperately searching for the optimum way to spend the two transfers burning holes in our pockets.

We asses the week’s transfer bandwagons, look ahead to Gameweek 13 and take time out to tease Jonty on his Di Maria u-turn. We then combine “powers” to terrifying effect and prepare the ScoutCast XI for their Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round, having flexed its muscles to the tune of a 59-point Gameweek 12. Intimidating stuff.

Lubricate your hinges via this link, or bathe in WD40 via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I hate spending points. Truly. I come on the top 10K pretty much every year, and I think it's that aversion that probably stops me being a 'top top' player.

Now, here's the thing. I have Sakho, and he almost certainly won't play.

Not the end of the world because I have Tadic who would come in. Is it worth spending 4 points to bin Tadic for a top alternative?

    I can afford anyone.

My hesitancy has cost me transferring In Sanchez before his run and Hazard last week. And once I miss the optimum moment I can't seem to just suck it up and put them them in. I need a blank first!

I have a Siggy yes. Di Maria, who I held for fixtures. Plus Fabregas and Downing

All I can find on Chadli is this, a tweet from last Sunday from a Sky reporter

    Forster (McCarthy)
    Baines*, Ivan, Naylor (Chambers, Duff*)
Di Maria, Sanchez, Hazard, Siggy (Boyd)
    Aguero, Austin, Sakho*

    1 FT, 0.1m

Could be missing 3 players this week but luckily I have a strong bench, should I save? Ideally I want to change Forster to Adrian or Fabianski but I really want to get Caulker in for his fixtures and added goal threat too.

Should be until Fernandez is back. Who knows, if he puts on a few good performances in that time and swans keep some clean sheets, he might even be able to hold onto the spot for a little longer. Can always switch to s.taylor (who's now fit again) if he doesn't.

Just got a feeling I need to be on Man U over this next period. Di Maria is still involved in much of their attacking play.

Had baines since gw1 so don't lose him lightly but injury doubts tipped the balance for me and I feel he has slightly out performed his norm this year. He will of course continue to be one of the best defensive choices so I expect to bring him back into the fold at some point.

I can't help but feel as if United will struggle against really deep defensive teams like hull and stoke, and then they play saints, liverpool, etc... which will be tough games for them. He'll probably pick up points but i'm not sure he's worth 10m when downing is 4m cheaper...

No.....going without for now. Will probably burn me, but those three should easily cover whatever points the defenders might get.

Hazards next 3 fixtures aren't great when you consider his very ordinary away form. Spurs at home won't be easy either.

    RMT:

    Bego
    Baines - Kaboul - Naylor
    Sanchez(c) - Hazard - ADM - Siggy
    Kun - Sakho - Pelle

Bench: McCarthy - Boyd - Clyne - Moore
    0 in bank.

    Considering a -8 for:
    Sakho > Rooney
    ADM > Downing
    Kaboul > Hutton

    Or the safe route?
    Kaboul > Hutton

    Thanks in advance.

      Why do you sell ADM?
He's cheaper, better player than Rooney in real life, better pick than Rooney in Fantasy

My worry with ADM is that he gets shifted out to left wing where he is ineffective. LVG loves RvP and will continue to play him upfront.

You're not worried Rooney will play in midfield?
No way it's worth -8 to trade ADM for Rooney.

My advice is Kaboul -> Swansea defender

Yun would have to be rotated for his away games. Can be considered as well, but AVL have far better fixtures than QPR.

I am trying to decide if I should go with Fa, Hazard and Costa or get DiMaria for Uniteds home games and spread the risk. If Chelsea scrape a 1-0 some night and I have all 3 it could be bad although they are more likely to win most games by 2+ atm

    Problems at the back...

    Begovic
    Baines Clyne Duff Dawson Hutton

Think Begovic should be the priority. Best keeper 5 or under? I have Bony and Siggy should I triple up with Fab or go for Adrian?

Would appreciate some opinions on Crouch (more for draft league than FPL)...

He was nailed-on with decent stats for Stoke as their main striker before his red card, but was benched for Diouf in their last game vs Burnley... Tough fixtures coming up, but maybe this is a good time to try to get him on the cheap?

The guy who owns him has Giroud and Costa as well, so Crouch is expendable for him, but what's the right amount to give up for him?

I have Coloccini, Lamela, Milner, J-Rod, Balotelli, and Remy potentially tradeable...

Crouch is a better pick now Moses is injured. Diouf will play wide as a result.

proabably not the right person to ask,i've always found him a bit of a circus act wally who i wouldn't give buttons for but
I like your thinking -he's expendable for the other fella-certainly not col, milner, remy,or even lamela
      i'd offer ballo,
i think you could command more for an even injured jrod-be cheeky and start with giroud+crouch for ballo and jrod......

      1. rickardinho
        • 11 Years

Surely Remy>Crouch is a good deal though? Remy might see a game here and there but Drogba is also competing for the No.2 spot... I got Remy from FA's afterall

I do rate j-rod highly, as he was the 9th highest scoring striker in fantrax last season iirc, and with spurs he could flourish again.

Great point from Bredrin about Moses too, makes Crouch more nailed-on actually, even though his fixtures aren't great.

Do you think Giroud is worth going for though? He's not really nailed-on at all with Welbeck, Sanchez, and now Sanogo, plus Walcott offering alternatives...

          • 15 Years

i think giroud is quality forget sanogo, only welbeck plays up top and arsen has been waiting for his main man to return.
if you can get giroud and crouch for any 2 of ballo/jrod/remy i think you'll have done marvellous-act now before giroud starts scoring more....-try remy/ballo for crouch/giroud but i wouldn't take it -i'd need jrod in the mix if i was on the recieving end

Yeah i'll give it a go. The problem is that he's got 3 strikers, so the reason for trading would be to go down to 2.. he already offered me Crouch for Lamela for example...

So I'm guessing it would take something like Lamela+Remy/Balotelli/J-Rod to get Crouch+Giroud...

Thanks for the help mate. I've just sent the offer, Balotelli+Remy for Crouch+Giroud.

Makes decent sense actually since he has Costa aswell, and Remy can be his 3rd striker to cover for Costa when he gets suspended or rested, and Giroud and Crouch are both rotation risks, and in Crouch's case has poor fixtures to boot. 😉

        • 11 Years

I also think Balotelli is worth more than Crouch. He hasn't been great but he could turn it on properly in the 2nd half of the season when Sturridge is back, whereas you know Crouch is just going to bounce along and get a grand total of 5 goals for his season...

yeah, i traded my 4th round draft pick for balotelli (who got drafted in the 3rd round) as i wanted a premium striker, and he was the closest i could get to one that late in the draft. meh
