Introducing The ICT Scout Index

Yesterday we launched the ICT Scout Index for our Members. This is immediately viewable via the dashboard on login, with top 10’s displayable for both the current Gameweek and the season as a whole. Obviously, right now, this is based on last season’s data.

Read on for more details on what the ICT Index brings to our Members’ offering…

What is the ICT Scout Index?

Basically this is a football index created specifically to assess a player in Fantasy terms. It uses the statistical data already available to Members to create a single score for three key areas – Influence, Creativity and Threat. These scores then combine to create a single ICT Scout Index score.

In basic terms the ICT index will help to make our statistics easier to digest. The individual index scores help to measure a player’s importance to their team and to a match (Influence), a player’s likelihood to earn assists (Creativity) and to score goals, or at least get in goalscoring situations (Threat).

Index scores will be generated on a gameweek basis and cumulatively over the season for all players. All the usual statistics are available, but Members now have an easy route to identify how players are performing across the key statistics – they can go straight in now and start analysing players based on last season’s data.

The index, like any football index, will require tweaking as we go. Even so, we feel that it’s a valuable addition for our Members and offers us plenty of material to discuss in a series of new weekly Members articles.

How Can I View the ICT Scout Index?

In addition to the Top 10 standings on the Members dashboard, the full index is available within the Fantasy Index tab for Player Stats. You can view the index by position or for all players.

By default this offers a cumulative view of the Index totals – however, Members can also slice the data by a given gameweek or a range of gameweeks and view average Index scores per appearance using the Advance Filter Options.

The Player Profiles (available by clicking on any player), also offer a complete Gameweek by Gameweek breakdown of a players’ Index score. Using this, you can analyse trends and assess how a player is developing in terms of Fantasy potential as the season progresses.

We will of course, use such breakdowns in our regular articles to help you identify those players in form according to their ICT Scout Index scores.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think Gervinho could be massive. If you look at how many goals/assists that total non-trier arsharvin got from the same slot last year he looks awesome value even as a striker.

I just need to see it first.

Any opinions appreciated on this team:

    Given/Ruddy
    Cole/Kompany/Bramble/Simpson/Orr
    Nani/Malouda/Cabaye/Sinclair/Moses
    RVP/Carroll/Holt

    0.0 in the bank

      Look pretty solid to me

      FWD: 9/10
MID: 7/10 - 3 risks in there (Sinclair,Moses,Cabaye) may be worth considering bringing in a proven EPL performer for 1 of these guys?)
DEF: 9.5/10 (Bramble and Simpson rotate well)
      GK: 8/10

Overall i would say your team is good, perhaps with a little tweak to your midfield you could really get off to a solid start.

      Good Luck

Yeah I agree with the midfield 3 being risks but you need some cheap players to afford the heavyweights. Sinclair and Cabaye on set-pices aswell.

        Good Luck also !

I want to upgrade one of the following to N'Zogbia, torn here. Get rid of Sessegnon or Taraabt? Sess is in great form and is playing a striker role (will his gametime be reduced though?) and Taraabt is quality of course but he does have a bit of a short fuse and may be on his way come the end of August.

Also, Bosingwa is surely preferred at RB to Ferreira? I see one of those two holding the RB slot for the opening day and likely beyond. May go with Bos, hmm.

Start off with Taarabt, if he is going to be a success, his opening fixtures are certainly the games he will pick up points. Sessegnon will have less owners so a big score won't hurt you as much..

Is Brown a regular starter? That's Wes Brown formerly of ManU, now at Sun at 4.0. Wow, if he could be a lock!!!!

Here's what I know from two sources, first source: he should start this weekend (from Yahoo) and then there's this from another....(note: it's probaably a close run thing between Ferdinand, Brown, Turner and Bramble for the two center-back spots. The latter two are coming back from injury so it remains to be seen how it shakes out.)
So I can't really give advice.

Whoops, Brown is 4.5, so my choice would be another 4.0 defender locked on to start, and keep the .5 for week two after the S... hits the fan. Your flexibility with that cash will be most useful and might save you a 4 point hit.

Because he's not proven and he plays for Wigan. Why on earth bench a striker?

Ramsey will be playing 'in the hole' I imagine so shouldn't be benched so certainly.

Holt's Champioship record is impressive and if Norwhich score there's a high chance it'll be him.

I suppose we can conclude it won't be N'Zogbia.

              Ignore the first sentence.

Holt and Moses are playing each other so it depends which team you'd favour. Both suggest good things but haven't done them yet (though Moses has been good pre-season).

Arsenal are away and shaky. I think I'd go for Ramsey.

I'm guessing you are an Arsenal fan, could you possible guess how you guys will line up?

As for the Ramsey, Holt, Moses debate. If you aren't gonna play Moses at home to Norwich then he isn't worth having. Holt and Ramsey haven't proven anything in the prem.

Holt - unproven, away from home and if he does score as a forward worth 4 points.

Nzog - proven PL performer, more than likey on free kicks, if he scores worth 5 points.

Moses - at home versus promoted team with leaky backline, preseason goal scoring form, goals worth 5 points.

Ramsey - plays for top 4 attcking side, against a team that conceded 4 goals to them last year, goal worth 5 points.

          Conclusion - bench Holt

    Almost set, looking at:

    Cech, swansea gk
    Lescott, Riise + 2 rotating 4.5's with goal threat & a 4.0
    nani, nzogbia, Silva, Moses, dobbie
    Suarez (pending), drogba/bent, holt

Eyeing up Silva/nani to malouda gw2, drog/bent to rvp gw4
Also keeping an eye on getting odemwingie & sessegnon in the early stages.

Nice to see your posts again- fun to read from last season.

Not sure about Dobbie except that he was in Harry Potter. LOL.

I would consider two 4.0 defenders and pocket the .5 for GW2 and to ease your transfers. Love your whole team, except for no info on Dobbie. Nice to see Cech and Riise.

I did have a headache about Suarez, what's to say he is rested GW2 as well? thought there was a stud who came back from WCup last year and didn't start for three weeks in EPL. So I decided to wait on Suarez.

Dobbie is my wild punt. I don't even think he'll start gw1 away to city but should be in the hole behind graham for the nice 2 home games that follow, he was epic in their promotion run in and is their most creative, technical player. Great finisher too. At 5.0 I'll just bench him if its not working out.
Personally there's no 4.0 defenders I'd want to start regularly, the extra 0.5 buys a lot of extra cs & attacking potential.
Suarez is pending word from dalglish but he's fit, rested & back training so fingers crossed. 😀

Downgrading cech to given/schwartzer and Riise to Cole would cost the same price, same cs potential but I'd lose attacking potential imo.

Check out how Schwarzer and Mignolet rotate.

*Disclaimer* He's got competition for the keeper's jersey, but should start the season. Last term he kept 8 clean sheets in 23 matches, which is impressive, and if he keeps that up I don't seem him be displace.

i would say no i prefer to splash the dosh on attacking players

my theory is that say chelsea keep a clean sheet you would get 6 points for an alex at 6million and 6 points for cole at 7.5

      others will disagree though

      thats the game

I havent looked properly at Swansea defenders, I had Orr up until now and just threw Caulker in to represent Swansea. If I do choose to stick with him it'll be because I've heard hes a decent goal threat.

Is bramble better than brown? If so, good.

I don't get the Downing love. At all. May not even start. Too many skilled wide players at Pool. Maxi, Mierles, and Kuyt all earned it more, for me.

I'd probably make Kenny into Ruddy, Kaulker into Orr/Gabiddon so then I could go Lescott for Kompany, but that's me.

Zog is a risk.........but I, too, am thinking I need him.

What is your long-term plan for Drogba....because he is gonna not start a lot, I think. He'll start week 1 for sure, but its still a problem, long term.

Like the front line. A lot. Graham is a great punt. Won't do it....but its great.

Only a matter of time before Brown picks up an injury imo.

Downing has Carroll to aim at from open play and some set pieces. I can't see him being taken off because he's the only left winger they have and his work rate is very good.

Not sure on Drogba, I fancy him to play the Hulk role but thats not certain, yet.

        Thanks.

Personally I've got Malouda instead of Downing and Carroll instead of Drogba, but that means an absence of Taarabt.

    Not completely happy yet...

    Al-Habsi, (Given)
    Kompany, Smalling, Alex, (Enrique, Jagielka)
    Nani, N'Zogbia, Taarabt, Moses (Sessegnon)
    Gervinho, Zamora, Drogba

    .5m in the bank

    * Alex not long term, was thinking maybe doubling City with Lescott for first couple of GW's.
    * Happy with Sess over Ramsey as want to go with Gervinho
    * Pretty happy to go Zamora over Goodwillie for 3rd option up top, only looking at the 1m save there...
    * Midfield too risky though???
    * Smalling to be a starter (already got Enrique/Jags N/A gw1)???

Any other thoughts on tinkering with that?

I never double on defenders as a personal rule. Your midfield is good but I'd consider downgrading one or two of your defenders like Smalling to upgrade Gervinho to Carroll/Bent.
