The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

This early team news from the Emirates has been collated in our Team News section – keep popping back there for all the updates as today unfolds.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Help.... First post.

    Al-Habsi, (Given)
    Alex, Hughes, Kompany (Baines,Williamson)
Nani (C), Taarbat, Yaya, Hoolahan, Murphy
    Bent, Drog (V) (Ranger)

I hate the ranger selection obviously but can't decide a good spot to gain 1 or 2 mill to upgrade.

    Thoughts?

      1) ranger - why? Get in a 5.5 third striker.
      2) Exspensive defence but Baines will score big.
      3) Yaya dont like
      4) Murphy the defensive mid of Fulham who takes PK's?
      5) No nothing about Hoolahan apart from he plays for Norwich
      6) Williamson will be your 5th defender so why pay 4.5 when you can get simpson for 4.0?

Hughes vs Senderos... talk to me.

I currently have Hughes but for .5 less, considering swapping out for Senderos.

Is Senderos likely to be a starter for Fulham?

for me Hughes never does anything bar clean cleanies. Senderos will play to start with I think and has more of a goal threat especially with the defenders focus being on the big Norweigan.

I agree with you there, in that Hughes getting cleanies is the best he'll get.

If Senderos is a sure starter it makes sense to go with him.

I'll be the one who goes A... N'Zogbia might take time to settle at Villa, and Rooney is apparently going to be playing a bit deeper this season. On the other hand, Nani has been assured a start by SAF and is a proven FPL gold mine, and I personally think Bent will outscore Rooney over the first 3 games.

Can you get in Kompany instead of Bos?

Here's Enrique speaking to official liverpool site.

'Enrique joins Liverpool a little more than 24 hours ahead of their Barclays Premier League season opener against Sunderland.

However, with a full pre-season under his belt at Newcastle, the defender is ready to be called upon whenever Kenny Dalglish sees fit.

"If the manager needs me, I am ready to play," said Enrique. "I have already played for Newcastle in pre-season, not every game but two or three games and I am fit and if the manager needs me, I am ready to play.

"My ambition is win everything with Liverpool. This year we won't play in the Champions League, so the most important thing is to try and win the league."'

I put in Bent just because I have Downing in midfield. Bent's got ridiculously good fixtures too and consistently scores goals. I also think he's been treated unfairly when it came dwn to bonus points in previous seasons, this season he should get more.

Bent scored goals thanks to Young and Downing
N'Zogbia is more of a scorer than a creator.
For me better options than Bent who also had this shoulder injury that forced him out of the England squad midweek.

First timer!! Not doing a RMT though, unless I'm the 2 millionth and there is a cash prize on offer...

    Questions are:

Chelsea weeks 2 & 3 have two easy games, so having an attacking mid or striker I feel is a must, but who to get?

Lampard - Poorish points last season - overpriced?
Malouda or Drogba both 10.5 but will Drogba be a better pick, however Torres will be playing wks 2 & 3 no doubt.

Come on Chelsea fans, who are you backing. Drogs or Malouda?
    PS I have A.Cole already.

I think there is more to offer in attack than midfield presently.

Bent, Carroll, Suarez, Van Persie, Rooney, Drogba.

I'm thinking about 3 big strikers...

and just dont fancy Silva to get a really high score,he didn't score that well last season.

i think Silva will be the new Modric, plays well but nothing to show for it points wise, maybe the odd assist. Im backing Milner for GW1, with Dzeko playing by himself likely his crosses will be important and well as his cutting in and shooting.

I have 8 of your players, so good choices lol.

      Keepers are fine.

I personally wouldnt have both hughes and senderos as they are both at fulham. And personally dont like hughes because he hardly ever scores.

Midefield is very strong, and i see no problems there.

Suarez looks like he isnt going to start the first game, so if i would try and raise 0.5mill to get carroll instead.

    Kenny - (Given)

    Kompany(V) - Givet - Bosingwa - (Jose Enrique) - (wilkinson)

    Maluoda - Silva - Ramsey - Moses - (Sessegnon)

    Drogba - Carroll(C) - Zamora

GW2 Drogba > Bent, Then Bent to Hernandez after manu's difficult run is over for manu cover. Also Bosingwa > Luiz GW2.

Tempted to go Silva > Milner to free up some cash. While they only have one striker 4-5-1 is on the cards, making him a nailed on starter pretty much.

I know im in the minority but since yaya moved deeper im thinking milner is worth a punt. Enrique won't play GW1 so that looks like gabbi will be on for you. Potential CS there imo as Bolton are a bit screwed atm. Looking good though, liking the keeper rotation, thought dont agree lescott is worth more than kompany, one goal and every one wants him haha.

Also it's not just one goal for Lescott, it's goals pretty much every season.

Milner is an interesting shout. Could definitely pay off this week, long term I don't have enough faith in his place, but it's a nice differential.

Kompany will easily keep up with Lescott in Bonus points alone, plus Lescott is not guarenteed a place on toures return. Its a 0.5m better spent further forward imo when the first few weeks the new teams are trying to show they dont go down easily, i dont expect many CS's. Yeah im thinking milner for a while until some one stands out.

I don't think Komp will get that many bonuses - he got so many last year because he played every game, on a week by week basis I doubt he was very often one of the top three players in a match. I can definitely understand why people want him for the stability though, for me it could just be a one week thing.

So much talk of the two this week that Komp is almost certainly going to score against Swansea 😀

fingers crossed! haha. more likely neither will score :P. Defence is always the hardest part imo, you can usually rely on chelsk manc manu stoke, other than that my mind bleeds
