This afternoon, we roll out the third round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and take a look back at the second round’s key encounters.

Among the enticing second round match ups between our regular community members Arvination emerged victorious in his clash with Gnu and will square up to Rabbzz in the third round. Meanwhile, our  moderator Greenwindmill lost out to Tommy J, who earns a third round tie against Breast Rumage Albion.

Aaron Ramessi claimed one of the key scalps of the second round, dispatching our last remaining former champion Gooner Dave. However,  Saniul was not so fortunate, he missed out on a third round place after being beaten 80-65 by Elfozzie, aka Chris the Fantasy Football Scout business director.

The highest scorer of the second round was Absolutely Fabregas. His score of 97 earns him £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power.

Among the key third round ties are Moin’s clash with Jimmy The Gent and Jambo17’s match up with Bemba Da. Huddy has the honour of attempting to remove Granville from the competition.

Those with the toughest third round ties include Eatton, who faces Never Trust Lukaku, who has an overall rank of 14 and is the highest ranked competitor remaining. Psychobingo also has a difficult task when he takes on 26th placed Disco.

The full list of second round results can be found here while the third round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Leicester are conceding 4.5 headed attempts per game away from home. No one else is above 3. I was torn between Austin and Carroll as captain. Not any more...

    If I do a -8, which I'm really tempted to do :

    Foster
    Baines, Kolarov, Azpillicueta
    Hazard, Sanchez, Nasri, Sigurdsson
    Costa, Bony, Austin

    (Elliot, Naylor, Hutton, Wanyama)

Clichy due a rest. 3 really nice home games in the next 4. Risky, but there is always a point in the season where a kolarov punt is worth it and this could be the time.

The problem with him is those 4-5 minute cameos.

It's ironic though. The whole time he keep the drumbeat going on for nailed on players and strong benches for christmas season and on the other hand, Kolarov!!!

So slowly people are speaking up Kolarov in the last page. If I've some company & vote of confidence then I'm definitely doing it. Clyne 1st sub so won't be end of the world. Next GW I'll be getting some starting budget player in place of Moore so shouldn't be a problem. If anything goes wrong we have Jan WC!

Anyone got advice on a recurring hamstring injury. It can come back from a long walk. It is only a bit painful but I love walking and it is hindering me. I hurt it quite badly about 10 years ago. But I haven't been to the doctor as an adult.

Specific strengthening, bridges, long lever bridges, variations of lunges and other specific exercises. Cost is dependent on area of the country, generally £45 - £60 is the norm for up to an hour

Here its about 40-50 euro so the pound equivalent to that

Can be hit and miss though. I got my back sorted, foot issues after breaking a metatarsal

But didn't do much for my Tibialis Posterior pain I needed to give that rest for a few months off running

Thoughts on ditching Clyne for Clichy? I have Hutton and Wisdom to fall back on if and when Clichy is rotated.

My number one rule is to pick nailed on players at xmas time but Saints seem to be in free fall and City have amazing fixtures.

    Cant afford Zaba. Thoughts?

Was considering Bony in, but just popped him in the comparison tool Home vs Away for whole season.

    home: 41 shots, 15 SOT.
    Away: 16 shots. 4 SOT.

3 away and 1 home game until he probably goes to ACON.

    Not for me.

Look at siggy's stats. Hasnt done anything fpl worthy away apart from the first game (mun)

Will this change the second half of the season when the 'easier' games are away and 'harder' games at home?

I really think looking at home/away splits at this point in the season is a classic signal vs noise scenario. Bony's only played 439 minutes on the road vs 639 minutes at home so the total shots are going to be swayed a little.

But even more importantly Swansea's opponents on the road: United, Chelsea, Sunderland, Stoke, Everton, Manchester City and West Ham. There really isn't a cupcake fixture in there.

Compared with Burnley, West Brom, Southampton, Newcastle, Leicester, Arsenal, Palace, QPR and Spurs at home. All 3 promoted teams were at home. @ Hull and @ QPR are arguably easier than any road fixture Swansea have had all season. That's my take on it anyways...

      1. Raddy
        • 14 Years
        11 years, 1 month ago

Well his minutes per shots/sot is still much higher for away games so he is definitely being less effective and accurate in those games, however I do agree with you that the away opposition as a whole has been a lot tougher.

          • 15 Years
          11 years, 1 month ago

Yeah, I can see his shots per minutes will be better at home, but you only listed his totals in your original post 😉 All things equal, I think playing at home is an advantage but I think the way the fixtures have fallen so far this year makes it an unequal comparison.

The team news section shows that zab and kolarov are expected to start as city full backs. Do you guys think clichy will be rested? Looking at shipping out bertrand for clichy

My thoughts all week have been that Kolarov will start due to his goal threat...Pell may jdecide that he needs that right now. Then again my opinion might just be bllx...

Kolarov was supposed to have been a cert, in the scout picks and all but Clichy started. I know people think Clichy needs a rest but.......... City are much tighter with Clichy and now that all their strikers are out and they need to keep things tight at the back I personally dont see Pelle doing this right now. just my tuppence worth

    From the stats

Bony, Sakho, Costa, Bolasie and Sterling are either unlucky or crap at finishing

    Mata has been jammy too

      Bony the only unlucky one.

Just like to say you do not need a powerful midfield to put you in good stead in FPL. I wildcarded my team a couple of weeks ago and currently have Downing Siggy Boyd Hazard and Sanchez as my midfield 5. Since having them I have risen from 150,000 in the world to 16k. Gonna cut my ties with Boyd soon and switch to Bolasie so that Siggy,Downing and Bolasie all rotate well.

Not really, most people have got 3big hitters.

Four does the job for me. Only need 11 outfield players prior to Christmas.

On the tightrope, JK. He's so reckless that it's very difficult to avoid suspension. Not to mention he'll be partnering Demi so in general will have to make more tackles than he did with Kompany.

      Just go with Zab

Who told you that he's safe?! Sagna had a good game & is a decent back up. There's no reason for Pellegrini to start Zaba just 2 days after Boxing Day match when they have Burnley at home & fresh Sagna in the squad.

          This is sorta my point

Despite being on the tightrope Mangala looks the most nailed on off all City's defenders

Yes he is. With Mangala you will know exactly when he won't play...Clichy and Kolo are at risk of the dreaded cameo and Zaba and Sagna will be rotated...
