Evening all. The FPL have this afternoon issued an apology over the recent log-in debacle and look to have made changes on the back of the weekend’s problems.

The link to the full announcement is highlighted above, so I’ll leave you to check it out for yourselves if you haven’t done so already. The first point (below) means we are all allowed free transfers from now up until the Gameweek 2 deadline on Saturday morning- compensation for many of us who were unable to make those last-minute changes from Friday evening onwards..

1. Receive unlimited transfers
No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011). If you have already made transfers and had points deducted, these will be restored to your overall total by midnight on Tuesday 16th August 2011. If you have already opted to play your wildcard, this too will be restored at the same time.

From a Fantasy Football Scout perspective, then, just to assure you- we will be resetting any of our affiliated leagues- they will all now start from Gameweek 2 to ensure a level playing field for those involved.

  I'm confused about this. Does this mean that anyone who's had a good first week is going to be punished, because now everyone has the chance to pick the players who've already done well? This is going to have a massive effect on the entire season, surely.
  
  I'm not making any changes until I get confirmation 100% that you can make unlimited transfers. Most of the other ff managers I know have no idea about this. Will there be an email?

I'm looking at my team and I really don't know who to transfer anyway. Granted I didn't do great this weekend but I think my team looks pretty decent for next weekend imo.

No point in rushing in for Cahill as he won't score again and Bolton won't be keeping many clean sheets. I can also see Carroll scoring over Suarez against Arsenal...

Price rises have to be frozen. There is zero comms on the FPL screens. Only for FFS we wouldnt know. The non FFS players may as well close up shop and go home if prices were not frozen. Oversight i would think and simple to implement on the FPL database.

Right I'm going to be annoying here...but just to clarify if I take make 20 pts worth of transfers tonight, they get deducted but will be returned to me after tomorrow?

Its important I make them tonight due to possible price rises.

Guys… DO NOT WC now or you will likely lose your WC. It must have ALREADY been played by some date, probably the time and date of issuance of their statement a few hours ago. They should have added a time certain and also told us about price rises/falls.

Reason:
If you have ALREADY opted to play your wildcard, this too will be restored at the same time. (midnight Tuesday)

Relevant statement:

im not naiive enough to make transfers str8 away when it says minus 4 or minus 8 points...u never know with glithces in the new system they might just be deducted...people shud wait till thurs or friday anyway when injuries and fitness of players is better known. though it if fun tinkering i must admit!

Anyone pooing their pants about making transfers and worried they won't get the points back just activate your wildcard. You'll get that back and it's much easier to fix if you don't than messing with points.

  ...make the transfers and keep wildcard as a back up to use end-of-week IF they haven't sorted it out. The way I read it (and others, see above) is they will return WCs *already used* and want us to just go transfer mental and not worry about using WCs... although, they might (have to) return all subsequently used GW2 ones due to ongoing confusion...

Its really not clear under transder section:

I went to transfers and all it tells me is that there are 2 wild cards in the year (anytime and in January).

NOTHING about this third wild card in the transfers section. Why dont they make it clear about the third wildcard in THIS SECTION!

Poor communication.

  I don't think they are going to issue a new WC, in the literal sense. You just have unlimited cost free transfers, effectively a second preseason.

    Imagine how annoying it would be if you made lots of transfers which were supposedly free and then there was a huge muck resulting in loads of points coming off!
    
    Not that the new site would allow such a thing to happen though!

I'm actually quite happy with my team even though I scored poorly this week, and I wanted to give my players another week or two to see how they would perform. I'm not sure if I want to make wholesale changes so no real advantage for me with this extra wildcard.

However, what is annoying is some of my rivals will benefit loads from this. One of them has Lita, K Dyer and Ferguson on his bench, a crocked Ferdinand in his defence with no cash in the bank and he's basically forced to play a 532 formation every week until he uses transfers to correct the mess, due to spending big on his main first 11 players, and his subs being trash. He can now just sort all that out in one fell swoop by utitlising his free wildcard! Grrr...

Sure I'm in the minority but I think this is a load of cod sh*t!

They should have made it 3 free transfers and no more.
People who have had a slow start through no fault of the balls up have landed on their feet and I'm sure people who have fallen behind will just duplicate their rivals team to keep the gap respectable and then re-group.

Very annoyed tonight.
For the first time in years I have a decent team. Don't count for sh*t now.

    Because 3 is sensible and if you were going to change more than 3 players last Saturday IMO you deserve all you got.
    It's also the next step up from the normal two free transfers you're entitled to in a normal week after you've saved a transfer.
    
    The managers who have done their homework and slept easy on Friday night have been punished.
