Evening all. The FPL have this afternoon issued an apology over the recent log-in debacle and look to have made changes on the back of the weekend’s problems.

The link to the full announcement is highlighted above, so I’ll leave you to check it out for yourselves if you haven’t done so already. The first point (below) means we are all allowed free transfers from now up until the Gameweek 2 deadline on Saturday morning- compensation for many of us who were unable to make those last-minute changes from Friday evening onwards..

1. Receive unlimited transfers
No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011). If you have already made transfers and had points deducted, these will be restored to your overall total by midnight on Tuesday 16th August 2011. If you have already opted to play your wildcard, this too will be restored at the same time.

From a Fantasy Football Scout perspective, then, just to assure you- we will be resetting any of our affiliated leagues- they will all now start from Gameweek 2 to ensure a level playing field for those involved.

We’ll have more on this later…
‪

Following my rant earlier FPL have heard us, listened and responded. Thank you.
Whilst some may not agree with what they’ve done, it’s a level playing field for us all.
Glad that the EA sports/FPL relationship was addressed too.

cause there will.. suarez, larsson, cahill will all go up 0.1. outside chance of 0.2. might as well play for it. if they dont occur you can switch back to your intended team

They really can't allow price rises. If price rises/falls were enabled while effectively 2 million people have free transfers, a bit of organisation could create havoc. We could essentially profiteer for the week with a bit of organisation.

Are people using their wildcard to make transfers or just making them normally.

Also, is anyone actually likely to rise by 0.2? I can't see it happening.

You don't think it's risky? They might only restore wildcards that were used before the announcement, whereas it's clear for all to say that you'll get your points back. They can't f*ck it up again, they won't.

          Yes, you are 🙂

Read the statement again. First sentence - free trades until week 2 deadline. next two sentences clarify what will happen IF you've already used WC/made transfers.

Of course I'm lacking in some confidence in FPL, as you are - so your worry is understandable.

Can't believe Robbie Keane went to LA Galaxy. I was so hoping that he would come to Vancouver here and join the Whitecaps. He's one of my favorite players, which sucks because I hate LA. Guess it'll be a love/hate relationship now.

Lack of football knowledge automatically acknowledged with such a stupid comment.

His BPL days might me gone but MLS is way lower in overall skill and he will run a riot on the fields here.

With him playing with Beckham & Donovan, even with me hating LA I can still guarantee goals galore.

Not really, it's not last season.

Young comprehensively kicked Nani's arse in the Opta stats. Young crossed three times as many balls. That was a patchwork team - he'll only get better.

And Nani had a chance to impress in order to make his point for a starting spot. he barely justified his parking spot vs. Brom.

    Ok, guys.

Of course, this additional WC hurts those of us who picked their teams nicely and kept in mind long-term prospects. And, of course, these people (including me) don't need this free transfers. BUT! We must remember that there are a big amount of managers who couldn't complete their teams or do last-minute changes, despite the fact that everyone had a chance of doing that between two fallings of FPL site: particularly, I didn't sleep a whole night and wait till 6 am to do some transfers. But, in the end, we all need to accept that it's right decision by FPL. There were technical difficulties, it was their fault, so they must fix it up.

Also, in my mind, this statement is a very very very nice gesture of FPL. They spoiled the start of new season, but this amount of apologizes & attempts to do all the things better (including free transfers and all additional prizes) suggest they realize it and want to rehabilitate in our eyes.

I was very disappointed with such a way to start new FPL season but now I believe everything will be alright soon. Enjoy football, enjoy FPL!

P.S. Sorry for possible grammatical mistakes. :-[

Can I get clarification on the whole points thing and GW2 reset. The apology is actually on the Premier League's site as some say it isn't. Here: http://www.premierleague.com/page/Headlines/0,,12306~2421213,00.html

From what I understand, all GW1 scores still stand for FPL overall ranking but minileague administrators, like in FFS's minileague, can choose, IF THEY WANT TO, to reset scores to zero and start on GW2. From the article above, it seems FFS have chosen to start their minileagues from GW2.

Can somebody on here or FFS confirm that this is actually the case?

That seems to be the case.

We're definitely resetting all of our Head to Head Leagues.

We'll be looking into the viability for our Classic and Members Leagues - however on that front, we don't want to cut our nose off in any "league of leagues" competition by removing 1/38 of our average score. It's a tricky one.

I think, and hope, however that all extraneous world/league/country titles will start from week 2 - otherwise it could be a minefield.

How will Wilshere's return impact Ramsey? I am guessing Ramsey will be the more attacking and Rosicky drops out? Clearly, they may buy someone new that changes all this but £6.5m for an attacking Arse mid is tremendous value.

That game was confusing to watch for Arsenal. I swear the formation was
      RVP
      Gervinho/Rosciky/Arshavin
      Ramsey/Song

      So I think it'll be
      RVP
      Walcott/Ramsey/Arshavin
      Wilshere/Song

Am really concerned regarding the PPI scores. There appears to be very little consistency to them.

Djourou and Ciaran Clark played just 1 minute for their respective teams. Clark made 3 passes, didn't win a header or make a tackle but received a PPI score of 3. Djourou only scored 1 point despite making a successful dribble, won a duel and making 1 successful pass.

Players certainly aren't give a PPI point per pass so I just don't get it!

PPI points for players that the majority of the game are much more consistent so I think there's yet more bugs to iron out here.

Ramsey was rated the 67 worst playing midfielder at the weekend (that doesn't leave many players worse than him does it?), according to the PPI score, yet he played really well, was influential and created 3 shooting chances.

Torres was awarded zero PPI score despite being Chelsea's MOTM by many.

You might want to avoid those two! 😉

Bps are important but not all important. If Ramsey looked impressive then there's nothing wrong with bringing him in, bonus points will always be allocated randomly no matter the apparent system.

I'm ignoring that for the moment as being a bit odd. He should get goals.

No. That midfield will have weeks when it scores very little...

De Jong & Barry playing for City, more or the same from last year but atleast my doubling up on defenders seems safer.

Because we get free transfers this week, does that mean our 1 free transfer is void for this week, and therefore we get 2 free next week? OR Shall we just assume we are transferring 1 week late from normal from now on?
