Not a bad debut for half an hour, was it? Sergio Aguero’s star turn at the Etihad Stadium has many a Fantasy manager scrambling for a way to fit him in their shiny new Wildcard team ahead of Gameweek 2. According to Roberto Mancini, he’s not even 100% fit yet. Let’s hope they give him penalties, too. Here’s the Scout Notes from last night:

Mancini Tries a 4-4-2
Roberto Mancini dropped Mario Balotelli to the bench for the home game with Swansea. Adam Johnson took the Italian’s place as new boy Gael Clichy started at left-back at the expense of Aleksander Kolarov as Mancini started with a 4-2-3-1. While there’s no doubt about the star of the show, it was noticeable that Sergio Aguero replaced Nigel de Jong upon his introduction.

This allowed City to play him alongside Edin Dzeko up top in a 4-4-2, with Yaya Toure bombing forward from a regular central midfield position. Not to take anything away from Aguero’s performance, of course, but this change in personnel and shape from Mancini helped City really take the game to the Swans. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a more prominent formation for City over the months ahead- certainly, it makes them a better proposition going forward and Aguero has already shown what returns he can offer.

Mancini’s introduction of another new boy, Stefan Savic, also saw another alteration- Joleon Lescott movd to left-back and Gael Clichy played at left midfield in place of the withdrawn Adam Johnson.

Swans Keep on Passing
Brandan Rodgers kept to his passing principles last night. Swansea had the greater possession at the Etihad Stadium and made more passes than any Premier League team over the course of Gameweek1 , but a lack of cutting edge saw the Swans swept aside. Michael Vorm’s debut in the Swansea was almost as eye-catching as Aguero’s- the new signing from Utrecht made an incredible 12 saves, with some of them outstanding stops.

Sweansea’s 4-3-3 was pretty lop-sided; Scott Sinclair was higher and wider up the pitch on the left in comparison to Nathan Dyer on the other flank. Dyer was far narrower and deeper, which enabled Angel Rangel to bomb forward down the flank on numerous occasions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    How does this look?

    Given/Ruddy
    Baines/Komp/Senderos/Simpson/DeLaet
    Young/Silva/Sinclair/Tchoyi/Moses
    Rooney/Torres/DJ

    Suggestions appreciated 🙂

Rooney and young may be overkill, given the difficult fixture listing, cant see many big scores. Tchoyi is a good pick but not when Odemwingie is fit. DJ, if QPR's performance on saturday is anything to go by i'd stick him on your watch list and pick a safer option.

My way of thinking is that when we know aguero is a nailed on starter he will be in for Torres most likely.
For now Silva still covers City attack.

And as for Chelsea defense I had bosingwa but Baines is so tempting and is basically a mid.

Im happy having Aguero in for rooney, especially as fixtures are getting harder for united. I have young covering united attack anyways. I did cashley to bosingwa so i could bring baines in. chelsea def is a must imo

Right, I think ive got my mind set on a lineup now, if people would be so kind as to give an opinion/criticism it would be appreciated.

    Given (Vorm)

Bosingwa Kompany Hughes (Simpson De Leat)

    Moses Silva VDV Young (sinclair)

    Torres Suarez Zamora

Thoughts? I believe there are at least 5 fixture proof players there, with decent cover.

    FREE TRANSFERS

Are these going to count towards our total no of transfers for the season? Because if 2 players are tied on points, the one with the fewest transfers finishes higher.

If that is the case, if we use our wildcards do we get them back again?

you can play your wildcard after if you want.

This has been going round for a while now. The Time reported on it a few weeks back. There are a few other listings for similar sort of brands in Asia in the next few weeks and I think they will see how they go and then if those IPOs go well then they might do the same. For now its still a wait and see. Its very much not breaking news lol sky!!

Also anyone thinking that the Glazers are getting out are unfortuanately wrong as they are going to keep the controlling stake selling off maybe 30%-40% to repay the highest interest loans. Its possible the only Red Knights will snap up all the shares which would bode well for the long term.

I can not find the match analysis on FPL showing the points each player accrued for the match. Last year we simply clicked on the fixture. Has this been moved. Where can I find the bps awarded for as match...cheers

Anyone notice how little BPs were awarded to midfielders this weekend? Defenders were better represented in terms of bonus.

    Strange.

hope they reset the transfer counter to zero starting GW2, like it's a new start.

So just HOW kneejerky would it be if I changed RVP to Aguero for a couple of gameweeks?

Not so much a jerk as a full force kick. But everyone else is kicking in the same direction it seems.

Will the prices rise or the FPL decided for the prices to go up after GW 2 since we have an unexpected WC?

Based on the EA player Index, will bonus points for the Man City game be 3 Aguero, 2 Dzeko and 1 for Silva and Yaya??

Also, Silva or Aguero seems the better bet going forward?
