Having been rattling around in the minds of Fantasy Managers all week, commanding much discussion and a pretty substantial transfer bandwagon, Cesc Fabregas not only disappointed in his display against West Ham on Saturday – he also indicated that he was far from over his hamstring worries.

A downcast Fabregas spoke candidly following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory, bemoaning his display over the 90 minutes.

“The first-half was probably the worst first-half I’ve done in my life because I didn’t have the confidence; I couldn’t turn, I couldn’t sprint, I was losing every ball. But after, in the second-half, I had strapping and it was a little bit better and, maybe because we wanted to win so much, I didn’t think about it that much. We will see how it reacts.”

Arsene Wenger added further fuel to the fire with his post-match comments on his skipper’s fitness.

“He played a little bit within himself because he had a little tension in his hamstring. Let’s hope he has no setback. I hope he will be alright [for Shakhtar]. At half time I had a hesitation to take him off but I left him on for ten minutes or 15 minutes and in the end he got better and better.”

Fabregas will now surely be sparred in Arsenal’s Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, ahead of the Emirates clash with Newcastle in Gameweek 11.

We will need to pay close attention to the news coming out of the Arsenal camp this week; Fabregas’ hamstrings are a known weak spot and further complications, leading to another spell of absence, is clearly a distinct possibility.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If the boy Cesc gets crocked again - he will be making a swift exit from the team and it will remain like that for the duration of the season.

Not a problem, if he's crocked again plenty of money for Tevez back again. Prefer him to be fit though.

You say that, but this is the third time I've had him in my squad already and it's only October.

It's why I had my doubts as to putting him in again once he got injured against Sunderland and furthers my arguement that having a balanced midfield is probably the way to go than shifting one section of your team to compensate for Cesc.

You only have to look at the top of the leaderboards to confirm this.

I "had a feeling" that Man City would get a penalty yesterday so I went with Hahnemann too.

Okay, I know that sounds a bit dumb putting in a player expecting to have a penalty against him, but I was pretty sure Carson (my other goalie) would concede so I figure'd I would hope that Hahnemann would maybe save the penalty...

as you know, he didn't. So close.

General consensus seemed to be that because of Fabs' trepidation yesterday he gave Nasri the set-pieces, in the long run it'll be more Fabs heavy or at worst an even split I would think.

The difference between a 343 and a 352 will just be how you've invested and which fixtures your players have for any given gameweek, there is no upside by preferring either of these formations.

That said I've been stuck with only 3 (poor) defenders almost every week this season and it has hurt me.

Friedel, Luke Young, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Clark, Sidwell, Reo-Coker, Ashley Young, Downing, Heskey

Struggling to see how this is going to work out... Surely it can't be a five man defence, would be a strange move considering they haven't done it once this season, and especially as it's one of their biggest games of the season.

How versatile is Cieran Clark? Because you'd imagine that he'll be the one that plays in midfield - if they are playing 4 at the back. Possibly with Reo-Coker on the right, and Clark sitting with Sidwell.

Basically, I don't actually care about Clark et al. All I care about is whether Young is playing behind Heskey or not.

P.S. The game isn't on TV is it? I can't find it anywhere, which is slightly weird considering it's a relatively big derby.

Certainly not, do you? Usually there's 2/3 games on Sky and 1 on ESPN every weekend.

Annoying that the Liverpool-Bolton game is the 4 o'clock kickoff on Sky, instead of the Villa game. But I guess both derbies have to start early to make it easier for the police...

    Hi guys,
I want to get rid of O Shea and Konchesky as these are hardley doing anything I need Everton and Chelsea cover in defence should I risk for Coleman and Bosingwa for cheap or play a bit safer and go Jags and Alex?

    Thanks

play safe just now. theres nothing worse than having 2 defenders who aren't getting a game.

Hey AP, wanted to ask you what are your thoughts on Cleverley.I've had him in ages waiting for that Martinez to play him. Any idea how he did yesterday?

He was played in the defensive midfield position yesterday which is a bit of a worry. Wigan were totally inept and he did very little. Hopefully he'll get a chance further up the pitch though in future games. If Diame wasn't such a greedy git and had squared to the ball to TC though, he'd have had a tap in and his first goal. I'm sticking with him anyway, although i doubt i'll start him for a few weeks at least.

Absolutely. I've only been impressed with Hernandez so far, and yesterday did nothing to change my mind. As jamsiep says below, those home fixtures he could run riot but he can also nick a goal against the tougher teams.

Perhaps this all contract thing is just a ploy to get City (or someone else) to pay more money for Rooney, and Rooney's 'injury' is going to extend until January. The severity of it seems to be increasing by a couple of weeks every other day.

Hernandez is going to quite the bandwagon with guaranteed starts at home to Wolves, Wigan and Blackburn in the next 5. Quite pleased that I'm already on that one.

could be a good call to help get some more strength in midfield for me.

Was there much discussion of boni last night? I'm thinking of Fab's lack of points (seemed to be all over the text comentary), and Drog's 2 points when 5 live were slating him all match.

Fab's injury was the apparent excuse for his average display. No BP was justified. Drogs was just being Drogs. Almost guaranteed an assist or goal from him mixed in with a little bonus.
