Before we draw a line firmly under the first Gameweek, we’ve decided to analyse some individual performances over the weekend. By looking at the Opta stats of Fernando Torres, we can see what his Sunday showing at the Britannia offered in comparison to his average displays for the Blues last term. The same applies to Robin Van Persie- no goals from the Dutchman at St James on Saturday night, but how did his game hold up?

In this first Members article of the active Fantasy season, we also take a look at Victor Moses and Ashley Young’s Man United league debut, weighing up what the pair’s new roles this season have offered so far…

    Pretty much settled on this:

    Only remaining questions are who to captain and whether there's a better 4.0 than Tate, any thoughts on this or the team in general?

        When did i ever say i didn't like Spanish football? I think It'd be frustrating being a supporter of another team in the league, knowing you probably have to do the same to get anything from a game Vs Barca.

    Anyone know where I can see the actual bonus points awarded each GW in their entirety? I know I can see the PPI rankings here - http://www.premierleague.com/page/PlayerPerformanceIndex - but where can I see a conversion of PPI rankings to actual bonus points?

      I have the same duo and I intend to play Given in every match but just in case he gets injured/suspended i feel Vorm is the better goalie (and also potentially the more likely to increase in value). It's not a question of rotating them hence fixtures are irrelevant.

      GW19 is a problem but up until then I'll be playing Given every week apart from when Villa play City, United and Arsenal. On those days Swansea play Norwich, Blackburn and Everton. I think that works out rather nicely. What exactly are you wanting from a 4mil keeper?

    DOH hadn't realised a new thread had started...

    I think there are 2 players names worthy of a mention on here that i haven’t seen banded around and who could prove to be good differentials at a lower price.

    1. Ross Barkely (Everton) 5.0M. This young lad is going to be a special player and i can see him starting with Coleman out and Everton lacking wide men. At 5.0M he is a bargain if he maintains his first team place and with Everton’s nice run of fixtures and a potential double gameweek in the mix. Has had a good pre-season and assisted 1 or 2 goals already. Definitely an alternative to Moses or Dyer early doors.

    2. Adrian Lopez (Wigan) 4.0M. Ex Spanish U21 international i think he will forge his way into the starting lineup this season and is worthy of 5th defender status as alternatives to De Laet or Simpson who everyone seems to be plugging in. Has forged a good relationship with Caldwell at the heart of the back 4 this season and rated highly by Martinez.

    Just throwing some alternatives out there……

          He suffered a head injury a la Terry Butcher and eventually had to be subbed off because of it. Can't see that keeping him out though now he has just begun to forge his way into the first team.

      First off great post well done. Great to hear something different for a change. However....

      Isn't lopez a cb though? I can't see him getting in ahead of alcaraz or caldwell however if they get some injuries then he could be one to watch.

      Another everton midfielder???? That sardine tin is well and truly full but again if evertons injury jinx strikes again maybe he might be worth looking at. There are more established options out there though.

        Article by Ian Snodin on this weeks fixture....

        DAVID MOYES has showed in the past that he is very good at protecting young emerging talents.

        And he seems to think that Ross Barkley is ready for senior football right now.

        I would agree with him and can see the 17-year-old being involved pretty much throughout this season.

        I first saw Ross play when he was 14 – in a five-a-side which involved Joseph Yobo.

        I thought straight away he looked like a talent – and he also looked like a boy in man’s body!

        When I was given my senior debut by Billy Bremner at the age of 16 I was nine stone wringing wet – I must have looked like a 14-year-old in a 16-year-old’s frame!

        Ross is physically equipped now to handle the Premier League and I have no doubt he’s been technically equipped for some time.

        The fact that Everton are now kicking off their season in a home match against a promoted side means there’s an even greater likelihood of him starting than if we’d started with a tough trip to Tottenham.

        But regardless of the opposition I think Ross is ready.

        I share David Moyes’ belief that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough – and for me Ross Barkley is good enough to make an impression in the Premier League. Roll on Saturday!

    Why are people wasting money on Everton defenders that aren't Baines?

    Everton are poor at the back and notoriously slow starters so even though they have nice fixtures, they are still likely to concede and there are better options elsewhere.

    Also, along the 'nice' fixtures line, Everton have a history of struggling to break poorer teams down when the emphasis is on them to do the pressing at Goodison and they actually fair better against the better sides that they can counter against.

    I have Baines as he's at the heartbeat of almost everything they do and I've got him for the full season barring injury, but wouldn't touch anyone else until I've seen that they are a different side this year.

    Just my thoughts.
