Before we draw a line firmly under the first Gameweek, we’ve decided to analyse some individual performances over the weekend. By looking at the Opta stats of Fernando Torres, we can see what his Sunday showing at the Britannia offered in comparison to his average displays for the Blues last term. The same applies to Robin Van Persie- no goals from the Dutchman at St James on Saturday night, but how did his game hold up?

In this first Members article of the active Fantasy season, we also take a look at Victor Moses and Ashley Young’s Man United league debut, weighing up what the pair’s new roles this season have offered so far…

    Who would you guys prefer?

    A: Lamps, Rooney, De Laet
    B: Young, Bent, Baines

    De Laet would be a rotating first 11 under option A. I was thinking Option A gives more capt options. Thanks!

      Too expensive, Everton start off slow and Arteta is back and will probably take spot kicks.

      You'll find a better/cheaper defender and have more lovely money to spend elsewhere!

      It's Bent and only Bent for me when it comes to Villa attacking potential. Saying that i'm finding it hard to pick him at the moment. They proved nothing yet under AM and £10m isn't cheap!

      As for Delph, don't know much. Always thought of him as a box to box player. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't score all season though

        Yeah I've tried working Bent in to the team, but it's just not sitting right for some reason. Think I'm gonna have a cheeky punt on Delph, unless someone can convince me otherwise?! If he does well, me and my fellow 0.4% are quids in!

    After having a little look at the upcoming gameweeks i really want to use my wildcard for GW4. It's the start of lovely runs for Arsenal and Man City although i don't particularly want any of them for the next 2 GWs. hmmmmm maybe just have one of each until then, Toure and RVP maybe?

                  It's United ain't it. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they won both but you HAVE to think Chelsea will pick up 6 points and a minimum of 6 goals.

                  Saying that i think Torres AND Lampard is pushing it. Close to a quater of your budget and they'll probably draw 0-0 and win 1-0 or something 🙁

      Ditch Rosicky - there are much better points scorers out there for 6 mil.
      Your defence is very weak when Richards and Bosingwa start getting rotated.
      Splendid team for the short term though. But ditch Rosicky (given that you won't be playing the replacement this week, I'd go for Brunt).

      I was, but it's not like he will never score again. He played a tough Stoke last week and looked pretty motivated compared to last season. I think it would be a good idea to have him in for the next two weeks.

      My squad already has one 6+ def, one 9+ mid, and two 9+ strikers. With only one pricey mid, I'm concerned that selecting B will weaken my mids further, and the advantage of having Cole would not make up for it.

      Given and Vorm are both good options, but looking at the first 10 weeks I don't see when you'll play Vorm. There are a couple of weeks where Kenny might offer better rotation. Or actually, Ruddy looks even better from that point of view.

      I've got Schwarzer and Vorm at the moment, who work well, and I have Warnock in defence. I thought about going Given and Ruddy/Kenny plus Senderos instead, but for some reason I'm attached to Vorm.

    im in Australia and we dont have alot of fantasy sports betting options but i'm willing to put money on aguero scoring a '2' this week.....

    last week was the perfect storm for him, came on after swansea had fired their best shots, lets be honest, they will be in the bottom 5 this year anyway, i reckon i could have came on and looked good in the final 30 mins of that game when the opposition were shot.

    He comes up against a side this week who are seasoned with a no nonsense attitutde to defense and tackling that south american/spanish types are known to dislike.... Bolton are flying under the radar a bit, they had a good pre season and are playing well.

    The expectations are huge on aguero, and i reckon he will have a big season but i reckon he may have a fall from grace this week...

    no knee jerk entry into my side..but ill have the finger on the trade button next midweek just incase..

    thoughts?

      Agreed. A cameo against relegation fodder at home is not the same as starting against Bolton away - that's if he even starts.
