Granville and I make a New Year return to the ScoutCast studio, battered and bruised by the events of Gameweek 20 which saw us both inexplicably bench Harry Kane and his 18-point haul.

Having wasted our big differential and haunted by constant reminders, my co-host and I struggle to make a recovery. Spitting the pips from our sour grapes, we do our best to justify our doomed decision-making, before attempting to salve the wounds with talk of the Winter Wildcard refresh around the usual batch of regulars.

Feel the frustration via this link or swallow the bitter pill via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Eriksen - chadli effect. yes chadli has lessened eriksen's offensive threat a bit, but anyone here bringing erik for the next 2 favorable fixtures they have?

    *already have chadli.

No. Though I think Aguero's return is enough reason to use it.

yea but if you have a place holder (RVP) why would it be a problem to bring him in after this week? ( he won't play 90 this week)

Morning DZ! Posted this earlier today:

Leicester City`s preview vs Villa. Not a word on Schlupp:

    http://www.lcfc.com/fixtures-results/match-preview/?matchid=3734979&tcmuri=1651452

BBC article posted today. Schlupp forced to stay home from Africa Cup of Nations because of injury..

    http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30723270

My 2 cents: I don`t really think Schlupp is injuried. He has played 90 mins in his last 4 games. I think Nigel Pearson just wants to keep him home from AFCON, considering he has arguably been Leicester`s best player recent weeks.

Would be some gamble to include him in WC without further news though.

    Any opinions?

Do you need him to play. Or if he will be on the bench most of the time, there doesn't seem much risk in getting him.

Thx for the input. Thing is Leicesters best fixtures are in the next 4. Would really want him to play right away, so might get Wasilewski instead.

    What do you reckon?

    Worth wilding to

    Guzan/Heaton
    Trippier/ Van Aanholt/ Hutton/ Wisdom/ Bertrand
    Sanchez/Di Maria/ Fab/Haz/Silva
    Costa/Kane/Austin

Play a rotating back 3, 5 man midfield, Costa plus rotate Kane and Austin

    Or Stick with my current:

    Guzan/Bego
    Ivan/Bertrand/Clichy/STaylor/Hutton
    Haz/Sterling/Downing/Silva/Sanchez
    Costa/Kane/Austin

Bego and STaylor pretty much dead wood bench fodder though

Currently 2.3k leading all my mini leagues

I have unleashed the wildcard as i have no self control AT ALL ! Your thoughts please gents on the new team. Any room for improvement as i am now literally blinded by all the facts and figures in my head.
    Foster/ Myhill
    Van Aan/ Trippier/ Bertrand/ Pieters/ Terry
    Sanchez/ Hazard/ Fabregras/ Di Maria/ Marney
    Giroud/ Kane / Rooney.

Not a penny left in the bank hence Marney. Really appreciate your feedback.
    Cheers.

Cheers, Cheers. I have twisted and turned on Trippier. Marney i'm kinda stuck with cos he's cheap. Will prob go with trippier for the decent fortnight that Burnley have then rotate anyway. Giroud will also be cut over the next few weeksto Ings/ Berahino to make way for a Rooney to Aguero upgrade. Will do this gradually let Kun get settled. Currently a spare 1.3 through that transaction will allow me to shed Marney for a better midfield option. Never liked Giroud he is surrounded by so much talent SURELY he's good for appx a month. Thanks so much for your feedback Cheers. P

Really well balanced team, have you thought about Ings over Giroud and Aguero on is return in for Roonpig
With Burnelys fixtures might be worth a Two Three week punt and save you the hits to get Aguero back.
      Food for thought

    Hey guys

    Hope you're well.

This WC has got me on edge. Please help

    Potential line-up:

    Panti/Foster

    Hutton PvA Terry Naylor Bertrand

    Sanchez Fab Sessegnon Silva ADM

    Aguero Kane (5.7 ITB)

    Should I:
    A) go for a striker within that price range (Berahino Ings Ulloa)

    B) Trade in one of my big boys in midfield to free up funds for a more expensive striker

PS I've been top of my mini league up until these past few weeks. I'm now 2nd with a 50 point gap on 1st. Really would appreciate all the help I can get!

    1. Darren Caskey
      • 15 Years
      10 years, 11 months ago

I`m on WC, and I think both Silva and Aguero is a bit much considering City`s next 3 fixtures.

Sess is an interesting pick but considering fixtures I would go Boyd which also frees up some funds.

Ings is the best pick in that category in a WC IMO.

      1. KEYS TO BENZEMA
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 11 months ago

I read on another FFS article that Sess has assisted 4 in his last 5 games. I admit he is a punt but I need a differential as a few of my other mini league-ers have Boyd.

I agree the next 3 fixtures aren't too kind to MCI but after that they seem to have a decent run of fixtures.

        I'm now considering:

        A) Chadli and Aguero (8.3 ITB)
        B) Silva and Rooney (7.3 ITB)

    Regarding WBA defence:

You really have no idea how Pulis is thinking. Just because he started Wisdom vs Gateshead doesn`t mean he has him in his mind. I have read some WBA fans forums and most fans think Wisdom should be dropped in favour of Gamboa. Newspapers recent days pointed out that Pulis had identified lack of speed in wide areas, and that`s why he is trying to include Lennon/Townsend in a deal for Berahino.

Personally, I think the only WBA defender nailed on atm is Lescott. Pocognoli really should be nailed on as well in that defence, No idea who will pair up with Lescott though, it could be Dawson, McAuley, even Jonas Olsson ???

Bottom line, I personally wouldn`t gamble on any WBA defender in a WC but Lescott.

I think people can only justify Aguero/Costa/Kane with a team value in excess of £105.5m or so. I'd a hazard a guess yours is below that?

Yea team value 103.8. Thing is, I`m currently sitting at the top of a few mini leagues. Feel it would be a gamble to let Costa go, considering his ~60% ownership. Aguero is Aguero and Kane is Kane..

            Sanchez | Hazard | Chadli | Downing | Boyd

69% ownership right now, that doesn't mean it will be 60% after the WC's. A lot of people (me included) can't justify Costa as well as Aguero and Kane (shoe ins) so I think we'll see his ownership go down. Your call though mate, it could pay off who knows

Need to consider Costa purchase price. I agree 11.2m is expensive. I'm keeping him as I've had him from GW1 @ 10.5m. Hence Kane + Kun+ Costa.

    Hi All,

I'm struggling with a good problem: I can't figure out who to bench this week. I might be over thinking this by considering benching better players for lesser players with easy fixtures, but I could use some help here.

    Pants (LIV) - Heaton (QPR)
Clichy (eve) - Terry (NEW) - Phil Jones (SOU) - Bertrand (mun) - Wasilewski (AVL)
Hazard (NEW) - Sanchez (STK) - Silva (eve) - Sterling (sun) - Chadli (cry)
Costa (NEW) - Kane (cry) - Austin (bur)

    I'm struggling with:

    A) Pants or Heaton
    B) Wasilewski or Bertrand (am I crazy to even be thinking Wasilewski here?)
    C) Benching two of: Sterling, Chadli, Kane, Austin

    Please help!

If I stick with Terry, can afford 4.0 5th defender, currently Wasilweski

If I choose Cahill, can afford 4.2 5th defender, maybe Cameron

If i choose Azpi, can afford 4.5 5th defender, maybe Wisdom/Pocno/Schlupp/other4.5

      rest of defence, CHE/Debuchy/Jones/PVA/***

What would you do ? I'm leaning towards Terry because 4.0 to 4.5 theres not much on offer

I am bringing in one or two Chelsea Defs and I think I am avoiding Terry. Defenders rarely bag more than 4-5 goals in a season, so his goal threat might have already come to fruition.

Go with Terry. You will play Terry, Debuchy and Jones most weeks with PVA coming in for his nice fixtures. The 5th defender just needs to be playing.

I'd be tempted to play Boyd over Downing.

            Hmm, it is tempting.

I think I'll play it safe with Downing though

Don't make plans til the end of the season as you won't hold on to them for that long. Strikers are the most commonly transferred position (probably) so look maybe a month ahead.

Really struggling with how to use my freebies this week - best I can come up with is:

        A) Zaba -> Trippier/Debuchy
        B) Hart -> Heaton
        C) Eriksen -> Chadli

All of these leave me enough cash to have the option of Silva/Austin -> Boyd/Aguero next week if the latter looks like starting.

        Any better ideas?

        Bank 0.1m, 2 FT

        Hart
        Terry, Zaba, Wisdom
        Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen
        Costa, Austin, Kane

        Elliot, Downing, Hutton, Chambers
