Before we draw a line firmly under the first Gameweek, we’ve decided to analyse some individual performances over the weekend. By looking at the Opta stats of Fernando Torres, we can see what his Sunday showing at the Britannia offered in comparison to his average displays for the Blues last term. The same applies to Robin Van Persie- no goals from the Dutchman at St James on Saturday night, but how did his game hold up?

In this first Members article of the active Fantasy season, we also take a look at Victor Moses and Ashley Young’s Man United league debut, weighing up what the pair’s new roles this season have offered so far…

Need a 5.5 midfielder... Which of?

Eagles from GW8, for now may be Hoolahan.

If you want to take a punt though you should go for Jack Rodwell at Everton.

Great song, prefer it with the Eagles though, especially with that pretty acapella intro that they did live in some of the youtube clips from the 70s.

I really doubt Cleverly will play. With such an inexperienced defence, defo see Fergie replacing him with an older more stabalising player eg Giggs / Carrick in such a big game

      So Taraabt and Moses

Plus Bent is a MUST for next 6 games (imo)

Nervous about Malouda starting. Think he is very vulnerable now. Was shocking last week so for £1.5m more you get the guarantee of 90 mins at home to WBA/Norwich with pens thrown in for good measure.

Morning si - I'm staying clear from City(other than Kompany) until gw 4. By then the transfer window is closed and there should be more clarity on the Nasri transfer,Tevez saga and Kun's starting role.

I would not want Dzeko if I could have yaya/silva/Nasri(?)/Kun/Carlito by the time we get to gw 4.

Tempted to follow that advice. I still fancy City to score at Bolton and Spurs though and expect Dzeko to lead the line in both games. He was very good against Swansea.

Interested to see if he gets pens too. Got a feeling Barry will get bullied out of this one.

Having a bit of a mare trying to decide between Toure and Silva. For the 1.5 mill freed up by picking Toure I'm leaning more than way at the moment. He gets further forward than Silva but there's no denying how instrumental Silva looks at the moment. I'm just slightly concerned that all his brilliant touches and control of the midfield won't translate in a fantasy points perspective.I reckon he deserved all 3 bonus at the weekend. What are your thoughts lads?

Jafa/Evs/si/Icon - the "Malouda/Torres issue" is doing my head in.

I have looked at gw 4-7 and the teams from who I would want players:

Ars/Everton/Wolves/Sund/Ful/City looks good for those weeks.

Problem is if I'm lucky I will have 2 free trades to get say RVP & Kun in. At the moment I have 3 big strikers, but not much in midfield that will enable me to do a direct swap to say Silva/yaya or even Dempster.

    Ideas?

      Chris, I wouldnt touch Malouda.

I think he will be ousted, even maybe this weekend for Anelka? When sturrdige comes back I think AVB will use him more give pre-season from on either the left of right of the attacking 3.

Yes, RVP seems a must from GW4, and aguero also needed soon.

If you can keep 2 big gun strikers in your team (torres +1) then it should be too much pain to upgrade gw4?

You can always spend less than the 100m, to make your upgrade easier?

I would work backwards: start with the three forwards who you want. The fwds are going to hoover the baps this season.

For me: Aguero, Suarez and Bent.

There are some good cheaper options in midpark: Sess, Moses, Formica, Taraabt. Build them in around the players you want. For me, Malouda makes sense if you can't get Torres. Silva is essential; Young looks influential at Man U with Nani as another option.

The clincher for me is Torres' recent record: 1 goal in 20 games.

It's going to be a killer though if Malouda does not play and El Torro changes those stats to 3 in 21 games.

Then I'm a stuffed turkey. That would mean Torres is a def starter for the shaky Swans defence and I won't be able to get him in (and Malouda out) without losing 4 points after just playing a WC.

    Baines, Lescott, Bosingwa (Simpson, Gabbidon)
    Young, Silva, Sessegnon, Moses (Dyer)

Thanks. Likely to score points then? He is my fifth mid so basically a bench warmer or rotation with Moses.

Torres as captain is obviously risky and I'd rather put money into the defence at present rather than three big hitters up front. I can always transfer Torres out for another big striker if he doesn't perform in the next two weeks.

    Here it is..

    Given (Vorm)
Kompany Baines A.Cole (De Laet) (Simpson)
    Dyer Moses Silva Sinclair
    Torres Suarez Bent

Baines as (C)!! Risky but if clean sheet kept + bonus + 90min etc, you are looking at good points.

    What ya thinking lads?

Perhaps a little light in midfield. You've seen my team so you know I look at it differently to you and I think my team is more balanced.

Baines as captain goes too far for me. One conceded goal and it isn't looking good. I'm also looking at De Laet instead of Gabbidon. Norwich looked the strongest of the three promoted clubs.

Yes, Gabbidon surprised me at how sh!t he was. I would pick De Laet instead.

Baines as Captain,.. it isn't my definite yet, I am still debating whether or not. But you have to take a punt on something different.

Yeah Mid is a bit weak I accept that, but to be honest there has to be a weakness to your side, and I think I make up for it with the rest of the team. Cheers for response.

I am confused by the lack of love for RVP...

He has just been made captain.
They are playing Liverpool at home who look average at the back.
He is not shy to score against big clubs like liverpool or utd...

Not keen on three big hitting forwards myself but might pay off this year in bonus points. Rather have two big hitting mids and two strikers while looking for the bargain striking option (Carroll and Odemwingie last season for example) of which there is usually at least one.

On your two options, I prefer the second and 3-5-2 but I would always play 3-4-3 personally.

Not much point having Cahill at the moment imo as Bolton play the big 5 in their next 6 games - there's 0.5-1.0m sitting in him that could be released for use elsewhere

If Pulis signs another forward then Walters may find himself out of the team altogether as he's really just in there just now as an emergency second striker

      Pretty good though

To be honest I went a little loopy round the end as well cos I was so far ahead of my nearest rival: there was a double game week with a few average teams involved... So I just took a crazy gamble and did a 28 point hit or something to make my entire team Double game week player - bit of fun as I was getting bored by that point. Lets just say it didn't work out so well and I transferred out people like n'zog to make it happen.... I know about gambles not working out! 😉
