Before we draw a line firmly under the first Gameweek, we’ve decided to analyse some individual performances over the weekend. By looking at the Opta stats of Fernando Torres, we can see what his Sunday showing at the Britannia offered in comparison to his average displays for the Blues last term. The same applies to Robin Van Persie- no goals from the Dutchman at St James on Saturday night, but how did his game hold up?

In this first Members article of the active Fantasy season, we also take a look at Victor Moses and Ashley Young’s Man United league debut, weighing up what the pair’s new roles this season have offered so far…

Young for me. Looked more reliable last weekend. I had Nani in my team last week and have put Young in now. Nani also totally unreliable in away matches last season although he did rip it up at OT

Young because of set pieces and less rotation risk. He's a consistent performer. Nani is a big scorer but you never know what he's going to do.

Last year Nani was the top FPL scorer and he only played about 20-30 games... But I fear for rotation this season with Valencia waiting in the wings...

    problem is

i have bent and fletcher up front and zog and jarvis so i think 2 wolves and 2 villa is a bit much

i rate jarvis and think hes value but fletcher looks good value as well

and i trust bent more than zog

Anyone else looking to go BIG on strikers after the breakdown of BPs for GW1? It looks very much like ACCURATE strikers (sorry Carroll not you) will clean up this year.

So I'm left with 3 from Rooney, Suarez, Torres and Aguero (dont want RVP as Arse are a sinking ship with poor fixtures til GW4).

Currently I have Roon, Suarez and Torres. I'm thinking if the Torres transfers flops then I can easily go Torres>Aguero when the little Argentine is a definite starter.

    What are other peoples thoughts?

I currently have Suarez, Torres, Bent.

And I agree, hence why I have used 30.5m up front.

It is the big 4 though what you have listed. I am thinking of changing Bent for either Rooney or Aguero, but trying to filter out other players to make up the money is an absolute nightmare.

I agree my MF has taken a nose dive to accomodate the three ATTs I have. It's just lucky there are some decent looking mid-range MFs who will at least give you a run for your money

I'm trying not to let the bonus bother me so much based on the fact that if they score, they still score. With that said I have Bent and Rooney, but opted against Torres and instead brought Lamps into the midfield.

Although the bonus has made it much easier to drop Silva to Yaya to accomodate this.

      Yes

Midfield options dont look geat this season in FPL terms. As you mention, the BP's are clearly going to favour attackers and there look to be several excellent options in aguero, rooney, suarez, torres (due to fixtures) and RVP form GW4.

      For me...

I would probably prefer aguero over silva, rooney over young/nani, suarez over pool MF's and Torres/Drogs over chelsea MF's atm.

    Morning all.

Silva and £4.5m MF or Arteta and Sinclair? I know Arteta is coming back to fitness but already have Aguero up front and don't really want Citeh overkill/spend.

    Team at the moment is

    Given, Ruddy
    Cashley, Jagielka, Kompany, Simpson, Smalling
    Nanny, N'Zogbia, Sinclair, Arteta, Moses
    Aguero, Suarez, Holt

what do you think of this team?
    Given, Vorm
    Kompany, A.Cole, Brown, Simpson, Hall
    Yaya, Sessegnon, Sinclair, Hoolahan, Moses
    Rooney, Torres, Suarez

    1.5 in bank.

1.5 is to do a straight swap to Silva if he proves to be more important. Torres can be changed to Aguero when needed, and Rooney to RVP. is the midfield too weak though?

So this is the question a lot of us are saying at the moment..

Aguero and Torres - its like they have redefined the word GAMBLE. The question is, who would you gamble on and why? Aguero from his debut goals and assist on the weekend or Torres based on his man of the watch performance on weekend and fixtures?

LoL, yes sometimes you take a punt and you get lucky. BUT over the course of the season the well informed, well thought out decisions will do the best...

Of course to be no.1 you have to have a lot of luck. no doubt about it... But thats not saying that your well informed picks aren't the ones being "lucky"

I think he will be fantastic this season. But considering we have no idea about the striker rotation, we will have to wait and see.

After his spell with Bolton, he is looking like an excellent punt this season. All depends on how many games he plays.

I'm also wary of Silvas impact on games such as away to Stoke/Bolton/West Brom etc where the opposing team defenders will probaly close him down straight away and push him off the ball.

Yaya Toure is huge and just powers himself through everybody.

yeah Aguero will do well, but I need Man Utd/Chelsea cover and so I'm going for Rooney/Torres as I don't trust any of their other attacking players

Suarez taking up the final spot in attack

At the moment Id say no and would prefer Jags and Saha combo. Cos at least yer getting the defensive cover and potential BPs from Jags. And your getting a proven (albeit injury prone) prem striker up against a leaky defence

What so now they'll never score?! Bent is a proven goalscorer, they won't go for a clean sheet in what should be perceived as a winnable home game you noggin!

I don't think Bent will score as many as he did last season, I'm only looking for villa CS's this season. Main supply line Young&Downing Ltd have moved on and the new manager is defensive minded, Bent while good is not going to get the same chances any more.

Bent will do well but I'd still go for Suarez. He'll be involved in everything at pool this year and will bag more than Bent IMO.

Of course Villa will score but you can't ignore the McCleish factor. Plus N'Zog is a cheaper in to Villas decent fixtures

Not a certain starter by any means and at 7.5m is a gamble. Tends to do well coming off the bench anyway though so I'm reasonably tempted by him but think I'll stick with Frank

I think he will be nice to have in easy home fixtures, but not away agains stronger teams....

I can´t see that city will start with all of silva, nasri, tevez, aguero, so probably they will play 4-3-3 with Nasri and Silva out wide, and either tevez or aguero in front....Yaya will have his center position either way I guess.

If A then simpson will be subbed and Brown, Bosingwa, Warnock play defense
if B then defense will be Kompany, Bosingwa Warnock....

Short term, perhaps. He´s good but not likely to do very much impact. And with the midfield looking to get 1-2 new faces he could possibly be one who gets little bit less game time. All very uncertain tho ´cuz AVB might have big plannes for him.
