Harry Redknapp admits Luka Modric could leave, as long as he gets time to replace him. Chelsea join Arsenal in the race for Juan Mata. QPR’s new owner Tony Hernandes wants Scott Parker at Loftus Road and Theo Walcott has faith in Arsene Wenger. Here’s today’s Scribbles:

Harry Redknapp has admitted he would consider allowing Luka Modric to leave Spurs. Far as he’s concerned, though, it has to happen sooner rather than later in order to give him the time to bring in reinforcements:

He’s had his head turned. I want to see him here at the start of the year, but if he goes then you get three or four players in. They’re your options: get the money and get four players and, in all honesty, have a better team, or keep Luka, who is a fantastic player.”

“There’s no chance the chairman will sell him on the last day of the transfer window. He did that with Berbatov a few years ago and ended up with no strikers. He won’t do that again.

Redknapp reckons his move for former Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor will be looked upon favourably by Spurs fans. Adebayor sparked controversy a couple of seasons back by running the length of the pitch to celebrate a goal for Man City front of the Gunners fans and Redknapp reckons that will win the Tottenham supporters over. Having already acquired William Gallas from the Gunners in his time at White Hart Lane, Redkanpp clearly doesn’t let the club’s North London rivalry affect his transfer thinking:

Arsenal fans hate him so Tottenham fans will love him. He’s got an advantage by upsetting them. He’ll be a hero.

Chelsea have joined Arsenal in the race for Valencia’s Juan Mata. The Blues have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer market so far but are aiming to pip Arsene Wenger’s side for the playmaker’s services as Andre Villas-Boas looks to bring in more creativity. Reports suggest Chelsea are on the verge of a double transfer raid on Villas-Boas’ old club Porto. Joao Moutinho and Alvaro Pereira were key components of the Portuguese club’s brilliant 2010/11 season and the Chelsea boss is determined to wrestle them away before the transfer deadline in 13 days time.

With Arsenal decimated by injuries and suspension, young Carl Jenkinson looks set to start at right-back against Liverpool on Saturday. Bacary Sagna will move to left-back to step in for the inured Kieran Gibbs and with such a depleted line-up looking likely for the Emirates match, Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez will be heading to the Gunners with plenty optimism.

Tony Fernandes’ imminent takeover of QPR’s is set to spark a host of new signings at Loftus Road. Bids for Scott Parker and Shaun Wright-Phillips are already rumoured to be lined up as Neil Warnock looks for reinforcements ahead of the end of August deadline.

It‘s been a tough old week for Arsene Wenger, but at least he has the support of Theo Walcott. The Arsenal winger expressed his faith in the Gunners boss and suggested dressing room morale hasn’t been affected by the recent Cesc Fabregas upheaval.

I am sure the boss has got players coming – I don’t know – but if you sell one of your best players I am sure he has got options coming in. But the mood is very good. We got a very good result at Newcastle I thought, especially going down to ten men.

Man City’s Nedum Onouha is a wanted man. Three Premier League club are after the full-back’s services, with Everton, Blackburn and QPR all eyeing up a bid. Onouha spent last season on loan at Sunderland but is clearly not part of Roberto Mancini’s plans for the season ahead and is set to leave the Etihad Stadium before the end of August.

Wigan have been linked with a move for Peter Odemwingie. The West Brom forward, however, used his official Twitter feed to assure Baggies fans that he will leave only for a top side. Arsenal and Spurs are also rumoured to be hovering.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I know this is dull, but Wolves penalty taker now? I reckon Hunt.

Really fancy Wolves to score some goals in their up and coming fixtures. Fletch very appealing too.

Formica played as a striker last week. Not great fixtures but I still fancy Blackburn to score a few. especially at home. Hooligan more risky for me.

Until he has scored 2 or 3 games in a row I wouldnt even look at him.

Aguero has played for 25mins and rinsed it.

    Oooooh snap,

    GOOLDEN:

Did alright with 66 GW1, had my team nicely set up for next few GWs as well, but made a few changes now with GW2 and 3 in mind particularly.

Team Choices this week for me depend on peoples thoughts on Baines and Lampard...

    Team 1:

    GIVEN
    BAINES, Bosingwa, L.Young, Kompany
    Sessegnon, SILVA, Moses
    Rooney, AGUERO (C), Suarez

    Or

    Team 2:

    GIVEN
    Kompany, Bosingwa, L. Young, J.ENRIQUE
    Sessegnon, LAMPARD (C), Moses
    Rooney, Aguero, Suarez

    Thoughts anyone?

      Essentially Baines and Silva...

      or

      Lamps and Enrique.

Baines and Silva for me especially since you have Bosingwa already as CHE cover. However I would still like CHE attacking coverage in some guise.

    or

    Torres and Young + 1.5

I just can't stand the fact that Torres isn't on penalties. Makes it very hard to justify getting him over Rooney. But I'm not all that excited about Malouda, either. Any thoughts?

If any of the scouts are about, will we be seeing another article on the PPI point system soon? Monday's article said there'd be another to follow later that day, which would "break down the bonus in full", but the FPL apology obviously took centre stage after that. Still, I'd be very interested in that kinda analysis if the article is done!!!

Demi were you listening to the AVB conference? What did he say when asked about Drogs and Anelka I could't hear it properly. I thought I heard something about not in the right frame of mind but I don't know if that's what I wanted to hear.

Reporter asked about AVB having so may good strikers to choose from or something and it must be tough to choose. I think AVB then said: we'll look at lots of factors e.g. training, the game against stoke, frame of mind

Also when asked about whether Torres is suited to that central strikers role now. AVB said i dont think about this, i look at the players ability, not the team structure, for example at Liverpool he played in a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 so doesn't just have to play at the top of a front 3

Nice one man. Torres key to his plans so. Sturridge/Lukaku will prob get more game time then Drogs/Anelka too imo. Cheers man

Ivanovic wil defintely come back in when fit (imo, as a chelsea fan) and he will replace Bosingwa or Alex, id imagine he would replace Bosingwa as he was so good at RB last year.

Anyone have any thoughts on S. Warnock? I like him for 5 mil, fixtures are good. Over the next few games, would you rather start him or, say, someone like Enrique?

enrique is third sub by now... he will be only starting when his fixtures go a lil easier but i want him in my team, and I can't afford is price going higher (and I believe it will)... graham as good fixtures, and I don't have the money for campbell. lol

Nani or Young over Van der Vaart and would not double up on Norwich midfielders.

VDV is a big game man. Even if it's a hard game, is rotation proof (both nani and young are not) and almost fixture proof. He's on FK and PK (correct me if I'm wrong)...
If you can tell me other highscoring FPL players, for the midfield who are on set pieces, and are rotation proof (other than VDV and Lamps) please tell me. (please don't tell me about Silva, because he will split points with yaya, aguero, and maybe even nasri)

Defense will be crucial imo this season. Baines, well it's Baines. A forward disguised as defender. Kompany (fro the same reason as everyone else), brown will get some BPS (at least I liked him a lot against liverpool).

This year I will bet a lot on strikers. Only have graham because I have lamps in the midfield, after the easy fixtures for chelsea, will upgrade him to aguero.
