As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

      As I said all of second-half last year ... Baines'll have to hurt me one more week before I crowbar him in. An extra 3-4 points to be used elsewhere is just too much faith and gamble on Everton.

      You're relying on Baines offensive potential. I don't fancy Everton to keep many clean sheets.

      With Arteta's imminent return Baines will be second choice penalty taker.

    it's my first time playing fantasy so not sure if i'm doing this right

    right now ive got 1.5 in the bank and

    i'm going to play a 3-4-3. worried that i don't have enough players from chelsea or united. or even liverpool, arsenal and tottenham for that matter.

    also worried I might be looking to short term and not have a good enough team for the long run. any improvents/changes i should make? any suggestions of who to make my captain for this week?

      Hilario in your team means you'll be committed to a transferring him out when Cech returns from injury. Or, you'll be carrying a dead weight.

      Long term question over Bosingwa too.

      No exposure to Utd's attacking points. Best stop there.

      Your instincts seem sound...but leave your forwards....would go for either Aguero or Suarez as captain. Remember, you can make as many transfers as you like this GW...only....

      I think you've picked well. Looks like you're going with Che / MAN City = rotation - watch for Bosingwa over the coming weeks - he may not be a certain starter. Have a strategy in mind for getting rid of him in case he's not.

      Personally I try to pick 15 that will start - ferguson will not. I wouldn't pick him personally. The rest of your mid is v. good - dempsey is underrated and is a good choice imho (one vote for, one against).

      bent & suarez - great choices again, in particular with bent's fixtures coming up. Aguero - he's going to set the prem on fire... the question is when. Mancini has said he's not fit so no one knows if/when he will play... he's a risk from that point of view. Lots of folks saying Torres tore it up last weekend so he may be an alternative worth considering...

    Y'know, here in the States, there isn't much in the way of footy banter in the media; and people here tend to react as if you've asked them if they have AIDS when you ask if they follow footy ... so coming home and having a beer while listening to the podcast is a really welcome treat for me.

          Same with me! Messed me up so bad last year. I just kept saying he was going to stop scoring....and he never did.

          But I just........can't.........do it. Not this year. Not when defense will be getting less bonus than ever. Not when ASSISTS get less bonus than ever. Not when everyone is too expensive to spend at the back.

          you're instincts are good I think - I'm going to pass too. On a rant at the mo' about Jags leaving - I just don't see Everton keeping as many clean sheets as they could without him, and that hurts Baines. Arteta taking frees and pens does as well of course...

      Ferguson is a dead weight.

      By having him you've (effectively) reduced your squad by one. If (when) you transfer him out, you'll be committed to making two transfer to generate the £. No other midfielder at that price.

      I'm speculating that his own mother doesn't chose him.

      No rush. Spurs will be playing midweek in Europe a lot and there are Carling Cup matches to be played. It could be December, maybe after.
