Our Sunday delve into the members data arrives once again this evening. We cast an analytical eye over Tottenham’s goalscoring playmaker, Palace’s in-form frontman and the Magpies’ flourishing Frenchman, whilst the worrying form of Villa’s misfiring target man and United’s skipper give cause for concern.
Are chambers and bellerin going to be rotated ?
dont think so, but I also taught Chambers would play, we need more information at this point
Not wildcarding until next gameweek, but which of these players would you lose? I have put * next to suggested.
Fabianski*, Pantilimon
Baines*, Bertrand, Terry*, Wisdom, Hutton
Sterling*, Sanchez, Hazard, Downing*, Marney*
Costa, Kane, Austin*Hutton and Marney.
Based on those suggested, I personally probably wouldn't lose Terry, and probably would lose Hutton.
Would you lose Hutton if you got him at 4.0m?
Agree with your suggestions, but would keep Terry if you can afford to. If you need a downgrade to save funds, would rather drop Bertrand, Chelsea are just too good...
To clarify, was talking about the WC/long term, not GW23
Anything wrong with this?
Foster - Myhill
Terry - Bertrand - Clyne - Wisdom - Bellerin
Sanchez - Fabregas - Downing - Chadli - Boyd
Aguero - Costa - KaneNo
I would be hiding behind the couch without Haz.
4 Chelsea goals this week and he didn't get a sniff?
He's on 131 points. He'll pay dividends for those not only focusing on last GW.
Very close to me. I chose Haz over Fab and think you could too if dropped one of your Southampton defenders and maybe tweaked keepers?
Bottomed out:
Tinkering with potential WC teams, despite not having necessarily decided to push the button this week.
Panti - 4mil
Terry - Fonte - Jones - Bellerin - Wisdom
Sanchez - Fabregas - Hazard - Cazorla - Boyd
Aguero - Kane - Austin
0.6 itb
Options include:
A) Upgrading 2nd keeper to Krul or Heaton
B) Bellerin + Boyd -> Pva + Puncheon (5th mid)
Also still debating the 4th mid position (held by Caz in the above draft)
Any thoughts/comments/suggestions lads?Any cricket badgers like myself catch AB De Villiers' innings today? Simply outstanding.
As good as it gets, windies didnt even bowl that badly at him, ramping 140k plus bowlers takes a special talent
Words can't even describe him.
Feel rather bad for Holder during his first captaincy stint for the Windies too. Poor guy could have gone for 100 himself.
Incredible. Redonkulous.
Yeah but not the whole innings.
Class innings by Class player.
Am swapping Austin out for Costa.
Please help pick one player to downgrade, as am having trouble doing so..
Hazard, Sanchez or Di MariaAdM
This
Agreed. Other two more essential.
ADM is a world class player but who knows what team LVG will put out and in what formation? At RM under Mourinho, ADM knew exactly what he was doing. At Utd. under LVG I don't think any of them do to be honest.
Di Maria seems the obvious one, but those fixtures.....
Hazard to Oscar would take a brave man.Hazard or Di Maria, probably best to wait a week.
ADM - won't get as many points as the other two between now and May (barring injuries)
Surely must be ADM from that lot for me.
Whose likely to top score next gameweek, Sanchez has to be up there right?
Therefore is it sensible to get him in for free as damage limitation or should i risk it till wc the week after. Rank 31kIf you can get him for free, I would.
would be for Hazard though. Have Cazorla so can risk one more week without him just dunno if its too risky
Hmm... If you're going to lose a load of value on Hazard right before WC, then maybe not... He is the outstanding captaincy option though...
no would only lose .1 thats why contemplating it, ill prob gamble on cazorla covering him but want to see if others think thats too risky
sanch yep-villans useless
90 % will (C) him so you should get him imo.
food for thpught, guess its the old dullard v maverick debate
- Wildcard Must Haves
Terry, Saints defender, Hazard, Sánchez, Costa, Aguero e Kane are must haves to WC??
Terry isn't. Cahill has had his rest now; Ivanovic is still a huge goal threat and Dave vs F.Luis is worth watching.
Pretty much.
I'm still not convinced having a Chelsea defender is a must.
It really is I think.
Yeah probably 🙂
On value (Pts/ £1m) the top 10 players after 22 games consist of:
3 x GKs
5 x Defenders
1 x Midfielder
1 x Striker
The 5 Defenders are all premium ones: Bertrand, Clyne, Terry, Fonte, Ivanovic.
I'd say that if you are looking for bang for your buck it would therefore make sense to have one or two premium defenders. Especially if you already have bought one or more of the above at a cheaper price.
The GKS are (or were) cheaper options: Heaton, Guzan, Forster. This suggests that a cheaper GK and his sub or a cheap rotation offers best value.
The Mid is Downing, a mid-price option. In fact there are no premium mids in the top 30 on value (where you will also find Sigurdsson, Chadli, Henderson and Larsson).
The Forward is Austin and all of the forwards in the top 30 are also cheapies: Berahino, Kane, Ings and Naismith are among them.
Obviously value (pts/£1m) isn't everything, you also need 2 or 3 players you will be happy to captain. For those you are probably looking at players like Sanchez, Costa, Hazard and Aguero because points/game is the issue for potential captains, not points/£1m.
To my mind if you use these two measures as a starting point it gives a different perspective on wildcard squad selection. Of course the trick will be to predict which players/teams will improve on their performances in the first half of the season, which stay the same and which decline. But the balance of the evidence so far this season says that a cheap, cheap, cheap defence isn't necessarily the most effective way to go.you should add games played when calculating like this. for example, kane better value than austin. panti in goal.
If I wanted to make a case for a specific player then yes.
I was only looking at the balance of investment/value in different categories of player.
You can't expect me to do all your work for you. 😉Yes but the problem with the analysis, is that it favours defenders, in particularly premium defenders. Explained below.
Be careful Ruth, your analysis here contains a rather large flaw.
That is that it is no surprise that defenders are the best value, they always are, as they are priced cheaper in comparison to other players, and base price defenders are cheaper than base price forwards and midfielders.
You could spend 3.0-3.2m on Ivanović over a cheap playing defender, but it could still be better spent upgrading your front 8, or spent around your team.
It's also worth noting that some of the best value cheap defenders lose out in these calculations, because if they have played consistently like Wisdom they will have risen in price and you will be calculating their value based on their buy price, rather than their selling price, for a sale price of 4.2m on Widom, he is better value than Ivanović, despite not even having played yet this game week, and Ivanović getting 10 points!
If a cheap defender has not played consistently and are returning to the team they are cut price bargains like Van Aanholt, and they completely miss out on your value calculation due to absence.Oh also you're short changing cheap defenders here, because you fail to consider the positive impact rotation has.
Southampton and Chelsea players will hardly benefit from being rotated with the many cheap options we have.
Add to this that Southampton and Chelsea are teams that you may want multiple players from, so it is an additional cost in losing a slot. If you get Ivanović it could easily block you from owning a different third Chelsea player.
Its not....I'm a testament to that
Whats your aim? Win ML? Defend position?
I always look for some differentials and dont care if it fails.
Ive left hazard out of my WC team. And chelsea defence
You know what?? you´re damn right, I will choose by myself and choose for rotation and differentials, agree.
Thanks mate. 🙂
No defenders count as being a must if you're clever with rotation
Not for me. Sanchez, Aguero and probably Kane yes... I think they're going to be key players. But I don't think any one defender is essential, you just need a rotation that works. And last week was Costa's first major haul for weeks. I'm starting to take him more seriously but he'll need to keep this form up to be worth his price IMO. Hazard can be a very useful player, I have him myself; but sometimes I question his consistency too.
Kane isn't a must imo
Yeah I'm a bit worried now about how he will be utilised. Don't want him playing second fiddle to Soldado again - he should be the main man.
I'm planning on Aguero Costa Austin front line. Kane is a great pick and great value, but Charlie has so many more shots in the box and is on pens. Spurs are the much better team though
Austin's home fixtures put me off but there's no doubting his quality...he'll still get goals. I might look at him again in the future
When it comes to Chelsea players, pick any three from six.
saints defender too pricey for me and I doubt they will finish the season as the best defence in the league
Don't agree on this - fixtures are quite good, so they will get more clean sheets. You can always go with Alderweireld when he's back also.
What should I do with this team? WC played and still dropping in rank:
Forster - Heaton
Terry - Jones - Lescott - PVA - Hutton
Fabregas - Hazard - Di Maria - Sanchez - Boyd
Aguero - Kane - IngsBe patient.
This
its fine just have to hope luck changes
Chadli > Cazorla on a FT?
Good week to do it if you don't think he's at risk of rotation over the next 3 GWs.
Jones or Azpi?
Neither. Jones if you must as Azpi is injured and not guaranteed to walk back in.
dont answer its Jones
Jones on corner duty so gotta be Jonesy for that assist potential.... (I'm joking here btw!)
RMT please after fresh WC: De gea/Jakupovic - Ivanovic, Gardos, Bellerin, Wisdom, PVA - Haz, Sanchez, Elia, Downing, Boyd - Costa, Aguero, Kane - doubting just about everything right now
Siggy to:
a) Downing
b) Puncheon
c) Chadli (got Kane)
Cheers lads.C
This is what I'm thinking, thanks.
Puncheon/Elia short term. Chadli based on previous returns.
I'm not sure if I'm wcing this week. There aren't any pressing price changes for today.. If I don't wc this week I'll def take a punt. Cheers.
Was planning to get rid of downing on wc and keeping siggy but am leaning the other way now. Am I being blinded by today's events and should I stick to the plan? Downing's form is better but siggys fixtures slightly better. Tough one this....
Don't understand reasoning to keep Siggy right now.
Price, potential and a little stubbornness.
I don't see much potential right now. They look sort of rubbish going forward and seem to be heading in the wrong direction in general. Tough fixtures as well....it's time to cut loose.
I have to agree about the heading in the wrong direction.
i would look to get rid of both
I could but only puncheon really appeals. The fact downing has smashed it for bonuses makes me want to keep.
Sorry, asking again just want a couple more responses. Simple question - WC this week or next week? Have 1FT and £0.2m in the bank
Hart
Coleman Cresswell O'Shea
Silva Hazard Fabregas Sanchez
Costa Kane Austin
Bench - Wisdom, Marney, Hutton.either way.
next, id do coleman to kos if everton fail v westbrom, if not then mayb silva to adm
Wait I reckon. Have a fun punt instead (aka a 'funt' !)
Any reason cabella has only been transferred in by 76 people?
He looks great at the mo @7.?1?!
Should read @£7.1m
🙂I did.
He's certainly improved a lot in the past couple of games. But we are missing a dependable striker to put away the chances that he and others create. Ayoze is an amazing talent, but he's been used as a lone striker all too often, when that is just not his game.
Unless Cabella himself starts knocking them in, I don't think he's worth it atm, despite good real life form. Thanks for that. Maybe wait and see on this one then. Thanks
Competition at that price, a misguided punt
Cheers- will step away from the keyboard!
He's playing well, but is at an awkward price range - not cheap enough for the amount of risk he currently presents.
So any idea who's rising / falling tonight? Need to go to sleep but still deciding whether to Wildcard...
Panti - Hamer
Terry - Clyne - Bertrand - Wisdom - Wasilewski
Hazard - Sánchez - Cazorla - Elia - Punch
Costa - Ings - Kane
OR
Panti - Hamer
KOSCIELNY - HUTTON - FONTE - Wisdom - Wasilewski
Hazard - Sánchez - CHADLI - Elia - Punch
Costa - AGUERO - KaneBoth look like a benching headache tbh
Yeah.
So only two places left in my WC team which is for two mid priced midfielders.
12.5 to spend - currently got Siggy @ 6.4 and Downing @ 6.3 so too expensive to retain.
Options:
A) Downing with Henderson, Johnson, Puncheon or Elia
B) Sigurdsson with Henderson, Johnson, Puncheon or Elia
C) Chadli with Puncheon or Elia
D) Henderson with Chadli, Johnson, Puncheon or Elia
E) Johnson with Chadli, Puncheon or Elia
F) Puncheon with Mirallas or Elia
G) Mirallas with EliaC) with Puncheon
Isn't Kane and Chadli too much?
Puncheon and Johnson look good to me if you already have Kane, so E).
Elia is a bit of a stab in the dark at the moment, he certainly hasn't been a prolific scorer in his career but he is talented (Dutch international) and maybe Koeman is playing him further forward than has been the case in the past.
a with punch or c with punch
C for sure imo
H)pick punch and elia in meantime ,both possible for double rises and see how next 10 days develop.....
C, but would be hugely better with Cazorla + Lucas
Time to WC?
Krul - Foster
Chester Naylor Terry - Clichy Hutton
Haz Silva Sterling Sanchez - Marney
Costa Austin KaneWho's holding on to Siggy despite the drop tonight?
Shipped for Haz last week
Can afford tonight's drop as have 0.9 between bought and sell but fixing after that, he's a creative player but no real striker ahead of him is worrying me
He's 6.8. How could you have bought at 5.9?
I've been through hell and back with Siggy, but I feel it's finally time to cut lose.
I've kept since Gw1 fwiw, but better players have arisen, and the Swans w/o Bony are dire.
That couples with the donkey that is Gomis, and Ki out, has been detrimental to their seasonGood point. I've had him since GW1 too that's why I'm reluctant to sell.
Sell mate, cut lose.
He'll drop even more if/when he blanks at the Saints
You might be able to buy back at 6.4 even in due time
Siggy > Downing? Any thoughts?
Good transfer on paper but check out West Ham's fixtures.
Nah, go Chad
Thanks. I have Chads but I'm wondering if Downing is fixture proof?
On WC, which is better?
A) Bellerin, Siggy and Costa
B) Clyne, Fabregas and AustinIssue with A is Bellerin isn't nailed, though it would be ideal to have Costa
what else should I be looking at?
Panty - Krul
Terry - Bertrand - Bellerin - Hutton - Baird
Sanchez - Hazard - Silva - Elia - Boyd
Aguero - Costa - Kane
WC, 0.3m itb
not sure if I'm keeping Elia but was selling Downing anyways and thought I could potentially cash in on some risesLook at whether or not Baird keeps his place, and more importantly, whether Pulis brings in a left back in the next couple of weeks. Prefer Puncheon to Elia, but it's a solid team structure.
1 week punt till wildcard next week, Cazorla, ADM or Sterling, pick one plz
adm
Caz is the best bet, and it would be a keeper, ADM is nice punt if you have to punch!
Anyone beat 20 pts this gw? 😎
25-4 and baines to go! so suck it! 😀
Cazorla worth having or are people kneejerking?
Thoughts on this one?
Pantilimon, Krul
Bertrand, Terry, Wollscheid, Hutton, Wisdom
Hazard, Sterling, Sanchez, Puncheon, Boyd
Costa, Aguero, KaneHolding off WC and
doing Cresswell>Koscielny
with for GW23:
Foster (Hart)
Baines Bertrand Koscielny (Wisdom Hutton)
Downing Hazard(VC) Sanchez(C) Silva (Boyd)
Austin Costa Kane
A) Okay
B) NutsWC
Foster Hart Baines Silva Austin > Krul DeGea VanAanholt Fabregas Aguero
Chelsea has odds of 6/5 to beat Liverpool. 😯
where?
i'm on
Am looking for thoughts on ADM. How did he look? What was his position. Set piece? Is he worth it/ did he look threatening in the end..
I wild carded him in because I feel he may heat up and also because I like United fixtures but am left feeling disappointed.
