Members Area and ICT Updated – Gameweek Two

The Members Area has had its final stats update following the 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge. Those digesting the data from today’s earlier kick-offs can now drown in all the stats, including updated ICT Index scores for the Gameweek so far.

Members should click on the “Latest Gameweek†tab on the dashboard to view this week’s top 10’s and use the Gameweek filter dropdown to select “Current Gameweek†when viewing the stats tables. ICT Index scores are available via the Fantasy Index tab in the Player tables.

Just as we did for Gameweek one, Members can read on for our take of the performances of note to this point…

      I doubt he will start, bolton are a physical side and i cant see mancini risking him if his not 100% fit. Another cameo role on the card which right now does not seem like a bad thing.

    Might attract a lot of haters here but can I just say what really needs to be said...

    Most of the people who brought in Torres have only themselves and perhaps this site to blame. The only reason to bring him in was the fixture. Nothing else, not his form, not his value, not his performance last week where he made loads of effort but never looked like scoring. His place in the team was not guaranteed and he was not on set pieces.

    I brought in Lamps and got very lucky with an assist I'll admit. Like Torres his form, his value and his performance last week was not great but I felt prematch this decision was better on the merits of Frank being guaranteed his spot in the team and his set piece duties. Rather than focus on the results (i.e. a measly 4pts compared to a measly 1pt), I just want to highlight why I think the decision was better.

          I don't see why he wouldn't. He didn't do anything against Stoke and he got picked today. Drogba didn't do anything when he came on and surely AVB will stick for the 4-3-3.

          Either way he's going after next week anyway so I may as well keep him and take another risk 😉

            Agreed. Drogba did literally nothing today except squander the cross by Ivanovich. I think we will be seeing a lot of Torres for 60-70 minutes depending on how he is playing, with Drogba as a sub to change the tactics of the game.

              19 Torres fashions some space in the box but lifts his effort just over the cross bar. The Spaniard was slightly off balance there. <<< Must have been the weight of all those captain's armbands?

              7 Gabriel Tamas bings down Torres with a cynical challenge.

              4 Early touch for Torres but he is bundled to the ground with his back to goal.

                So that is what you are basing it on? Did you watch the match? What about winning the freekick just outside the box. Actually putting speed into the attacks, setting Kalou free on the wing ( then kalou dribbles into 3 people).Torres was not amazing but definitely one of the best performers in a sad Chelsea first half.

            True dat. I agree that if you have went with him then you were doing it for both GW2 AND GW3 at least, so you have stick with him. It's only half time so to speak, yet so many are gonna knee jerk him out.

            As I say though, he could go out and bang a few in next week, the result may be good for those who invested in him, but from a purely decision making perspective I don't think he was a good move.

            Would AVB not consider playing Anelka in the lone front man role?

              I doubt it because that means he has to play Kalou on the right with malouda on the left. Even when Sturridge is back I can't see Anelka being the lone man. Will always be Torres or Drogba imo.

            After last week, what other CHS options were there to be seriously considered?

            Malouda? Poor game at STK, subbed off
            Lampard? Deep-lying, little goal threat, too expensive and possibly fat, etc
            CHS defence? Rotation City in there.
            Drogfather? Rotated to high heaven.
            Cole-too exp.

            That left you with Torres as the only real consideration. Everything else is hindsight.

              Nope. Massively disagree hence why I picked Lamps pregame. This isn't hindsight, I am not basing this on the result. Lamps was the safer more optimum decision.

              Lamps was the better option considering he has scored more than 1 in his last 22 games, no matter how deep people claim he plays, he is a goal/assist threat contrary to what you have heard. He has set pieces and penos. Finally he is actually guaranteed to start!

              He wasn't too deep to get into the box, lay the ball off to Anelka for that assist?

              He is possibly fat though.

                I agree the sensible option was Lampard, he basically proved today that the myth of him playing defensively was nonsense. He got involved in lots of attacking play and could have had another assist or two.

                I do agree though that he is overpriced and he may not justify his price tag over the season but with Chelsea's soft fixtures and so much uncertainty over thier other attackers he was the sensible pick.

                  Thank you Duffman91. That was all I was trying to put across. Lamps is overpriced but he was only in my mid for this week and next week for sure. If he posts big scores I'd keep him, but if not hopefully by that stage a good big hitter in midfield will emerge and I can bring him in. If not there's always VDV.

                  P.S. Hindsight is focusing only on the results of the decision, I am not doing that. I am trying to explain my rationale for ignoring the Torreswagon and bringing in Lamps in instead. I think my decision making was sound, those bringing in Torres' was questionable. I therefore think it was good foresight. This game is all about foresight, hindsight is useless.

      right now, the only reliable striker with those two is Rooney (for BPs as much as goals).

      If you can make up the cash, then buy him... if not then get a midfielder who's guaranteed to start and is on pens - in other words, VDV.

      Get a striker who should bag 8 to 10 goals this season. Fletcher or Doyle for wolves gives you the chance to bank a few quid while you see how teams develop under new managers / with new squad members etc.

    Probation period for Torres over.....waited last season for him to blossom, but I fear that under the intense rotation strategy that AVB is intent on employing, Torres will not bank the high points his price demands.

    Now the hunt for a replacement begins.....bitter....no....its all part and parcel of being a Fantasy Football Manager......

          Because he was shit today. And personally, I don't think that's down to the quality of the player. I think its because Chelsea don't have a genuine playmayker in midfield. And for the folks reading this - I know Lampard is a great midfielder... but Torres needs someone to feed him constantly (and yeah I know he's thin - not talking about his ma tho').

          Well maybe it's easy for me to say because I have Lampard, but if you bought Torres surely you bought him for GW 2 and 3.
          And even if he plays 60 mins he will get chances to score so its probably worth keeping him IMO

            I actually took a 4 week view on Chelsea, but feel that there must be flexibility to adjust based upon results. Bent currently looks a better option looking ahead to GW7 at least....no decision made, but this is my present thinking....

      The fact that Drogs played like crap doesnt really put him in strong favor to start next game either. He screwed up a perfect pass from Invanovic and he didnt make any decent passes himself. I'd say Torres is going to start next game, whether he does anything useful or not is another matter completly.

    Ok i've made my transfer, Torres out and Anelka. This is for the following reasons,

    1. I need Chelsea coverage as I dont have any other Chelsea attackers.
    2. Torres is shit and Drogs might not play.
    3. Anelka scored this week so people will buy him and drive his price up (yes i'm hoping to start a bandwagon so this happens).

    Thoughts?

      The only sensible long term transfer is Torres -> Suarez. One quality player in a dysfunctional team for a quality player in a less dysfunctional team.

      Hoolahan or Moses. See how hoolahan gets on tomorrow. If he does well against stoke (and he might as he plays at the head of a diamond formation) you save yourself 2.0 which you may be able to use somewhere else. Moses saves you 2.5.

      If you can afford Silva or Yaya they're worth a shot, but I guess you're looking for someone <= 7.5, right?

          Crikey - sounds like you're well covered Matt_. Can't help I'm afraid... in the absence of being able to suggest better, I'd say you could leave him for now. Villa have favourable fixtures coming up.

          For what it's worth Sessegnon had a few shots on target today for Sunderland... not a top 4 team, but he might be a cheap alternative. If you want an alternative, Dempsey had a cracking season last year, think he was one of the top 4 fantasy midfielders and is on form by all accounts. Might be worth considering also.
