This evening, we look back on the nail-biting final and announce the latest winner of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power. We also see who claims the third place play-off prize.

With a Gameweek 24 score of 61, CMIFLFC won a close final against Momalpashands and joins donnellyc, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05, Gribude and myself in our winners hall of fame.

Both our finalists had already played their wildcards but 2,473rd ranked CMIFLFC prevailed thanks to a defence that included Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Swansea right-back Kyle Naughton.

Momalpashands, who has an overall rank of 428, was just eight points away but his transfer of Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho in for the injured Arsenal midfielder Alexis Sanchez, as well as a defence that included Manchester United Phil Jones, fell short at the final hurdle.

Congratulatons to CMIFLFC, who wins £100 worth of free bets with Paddy Power as well as a £100 Amazon voucher. As runner-up, Momalpashands wins £50 worth of Paddy Power free bets and a £50 Amazon voucher.

Meanwhile, our third placed play-off was even closer with Bobbyg scoring 61, whilst 241,362nd ranked Harts Hotspurs close behind with 58. Both played their wildcards but despite Harts Hotspurs captaining Harry Kane and fielding Branislav Ivanovic, bobbyg’s more consistent scoring across all positions was enough to give him the edge. Bobbyg also had Swansea’s Naughton – who earned an assist – to thank as he claims the third place play-off price of £50 worth of free bets and a £25 Amazon voucher.

In addition bobbyg, who has an overall rank of 542, and CMIFLC win a further £25 worth of free bets for getting the highest score of the round.

Nice fixtures too. But if you look at his record at Elche last season he may be a player that looks good but doesn't deliver quite as much.

I need to bring in a cheaper 4th mid next week and have been looking at Gil today, done some comparisons and so on. I still think I'll end up going for Moses.

They are defensively solid. Just scoring goals has been the problem but N'Doye may help with that.

Dawson (4.6) is pretty nailed on unless he gets injured again.

Same situation here. Due to a raft of problems I've had to just park Bertrand on the bench. Only other option I can afford is Yoshida, but he will be dropped when everyone is back right?

Do feel a bit silly not having a Southapton defender.

        • 13 Years

Yes, Yoshida will be dropped ... I was thinking of Clyne but hate side moves and actually i will end up spending more cash than assuming 0.1 drop tonight

A little something on why moving Rooney is the simple solution to van Gaal's problem: https://ivancamposmop.wordpress.com/2015/02/09/the-curious-case-of-wayne-rooney/

he should either play up top alongside Falcao/RVP/Wilson (only one of the three please) or be sold. he's not a number 10, he's not a deep CM.

just because he 'can do' some things doesn't mean he needs to be forced into the position. when will United learn and just buy specialists instead of trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

Exactly my point, van Gaal claiming Rooney is multi-functional has been more of a hindrance, Rooney's all round game only adds to the United attack, and isn;t something which can be substituted in and out.

allow those intangibles to be an asset to the team in creating from the front..he's not a playmaker..

part of me thinks that Moyes and LVG think it must be possible if Fergie was trying it..

    2. Goodfella
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 10 months ago

Tell you what Man Utd badly need. They need to drop one of RVP and Falcao then play someone up top with genuine pace, who can stretch play and effectively run in behind defenses, preferably someone with first team experience but still young and playing with a point to prove.

Van Gaal would love a player like that.

        Wilson?

        Wilson.

        Wilson!

Boy has showed that he has the raw skill, just give him the games. RVP and Falcao don't work well together and are both too slow.

        1. Demel
          • 14 Years

Wilson isn't good enough for Premier League football. Really seen nothing in him.

I'd go as far as saying a flat midfield four is needed. Di María and Januzaj wide, providing the pace and creativity lacked, Rooney as second striker behind one of Falcao/van Persie allowing his multi-functional ability to be utilised properly. And for the love of god play Herrera. His all round play is much needed.

        1. Goodfella
          • 11 Years
          10 years, 10 months ago

I watched a few games at the start of the season when Herrera was playing and thought he looked good, very promising and was slightly miffed that Utd had him, he looked like a proper player. No idea why LVG has bombed him out, seems like an obvious solution for helping the fluidity and balance of the team.

A change in flag colour rests the NTI. When it goes from red to no flag it resets the NTI AND starts a period of price protection. We think.
