This evening, we look back on the nail-biting final and announce the latest winner of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power. We also see who claims the third place play-off prize.

With a Gameweek 24 score of 61, CMIFLFC won a close final against Momalpashands and joins donnellyc, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05, Gribude and myself in our winners hall of fame.

Both our finalists had already played their wildcards but 2,473rd ranked CMIFLFC prevailed thanks to a defence that included Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Swansea right-back Kyle Naughton.

Momalpashands, who has an overall rank of 428, was just eight points away but his transfer of Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho in for the injured Arsenal midfielder Alexis Sanchez, as well as a defence that included Manchester United Phil Jones, fell short at the final hurdle.

Congratulatons to CMIFLFC, who wins £100 worth of free bets with Paddy Power as well as a £100 Amazon voucher. As runner-up, Momalpashands wins £50 worth of Paddy Power free bets and a £50 Amazon voucher.

Meanwhile, our third placed play-off was even closer with Bobbyg scoring 61, whilst 241,362nd ranked Harts Hotspurs close behind with 58. Both played their wildcards but despite Harts Hotspurs captaining Harry Kane and fielding Branislav Ivanovic, bobbyg’s more consistent scoring across all positions was enough to give him the edge. Bobbyg also had Swansea’s Naughton – who earned an assist – to thank as he claims the third place play-off price of £50 worth of free bets and a £25 Amazon voucher.

In addition bobbyg, who has an overall rank of 542, and CMIFLC win a further £25 worth of free bets for getting the highest score of the round.

    Current backline is Terry/Jones/Clyne/PvA/Baird
    Got 0.7 ITB.

Baird -> Bellerin the best option or aim for a cheaper (but nailed on) defender?

How much Arsenal have you got?

Woudnt worry about it, youve got terry and Clyne who you will probably never drop, and Jones/PVA for the rest. Baird doesnt need to touch your starting 11.

Got 2 Arsenal and 2 FTs - might just give me a bit more cover for Terry's blank.
I'll wait for team sheet anyway

Hard to imagine LVG going without him tbh.

Though getting a 6M+ United defender is a bit 'unorthodox' .

Everyone said PVA to me earlier but think I'm going Fonte (Clyne for you). Seems bonkers to bench the best defence in the league.

      1. FF Dirtbag
        • 14 Years
        10 years, 10 months ago

I am confused with this one. Don't know whether West Ham are a big enough threat to the saints defence...

    2. Pilkoblade
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 10 months ago

I'm in a similar predicament with panti in goal and PVA and Fonte to choose from. Currently on PVA simply because West Ham are playing well and Saints don't have a fully fit defense

      1. FF Dirtbag
        • 14 Years
        10 years, 10 months ago

Yea this is a problem for me! I think West Ham are playing well and usually sneak a goal from somewhere in every game. And with saints down a player or two
In defence there is always a chance.

    Itchy tradefinger syndrome

    Pants (Krul)
Clyne - Jones - Bellerin (Wollscheid - Wisdom)
Hazard - ADM - Cazorla - Sterling (Boyd)
    Kun - Kane - Giroud
    1 FT, 3,8 ITB

    A) Save
    B) Wisdom to PVA, Hutton etc. to bag in the money before his price drops
    C) Wisdom to Ivan / Terry (and bench Clyne at home vs WHM?)
    D) Move Di Maria to ...Oscar?

    1. Amateur Pundit Zan
      • 12 Years

I hear what you are saying, but Arsenal have that many top class mids that I'm not sure it applies to them and I think LVG may now decide Fellani is part of his 'strongest team'

            It's from a forum as I said.

"According to the lad who looks over the wall at Melwood on Twitter , Coutinho and lallana trained but Sterling didn't."

            And later:

"Just heard some team news from an impeccable source : Sturridge starts. Gerrard n Henderson in central mid. Raheem likely to be out."

This is in good faith at least but can't vouch for the original source.

It sounds like your making things up. Or listening to someone that does. So I'm assuming you listen to the hundreds of nonsense rumours which fly around on deadline day and regurgitate that drivel too.
I hope I haven't used any words you didn't understand.

Why on earth would I be making things up about Sterling being out?

The post I read was entirely unrelated to fantasy footy but I thought people might be interested about all kinds of snippets that could have an effect on their teams hence shared the info/rumour on here also.

With regards to your hope: regurgigate is a word I couldn't literally translate to my first language but I do understand the meaning as I'm bright like that. But hey, thanks for your concern!

There is 4 hours to go so he would need to accelerate.

Who is buying him before the team line ups?

I wouldn't rule it out. There have been some instances this season (Aguero in January the most recent one, I think) where players have gone up over 50% of the target NTI in one day - which hasn't been enough to take them over threshold, but they've gone up in price regardless. Big daily purchases have triggered a price rise before so could do it again.

A Save Austin for double game week and put as sub in mean time.
    Or
    B Put in Defoe now.

What do we think about Pelle?

    Dead cold or great potential?

''Get over his season history and sell'' vs ''stats indicate he is due''?

2 FTs, arsenal midfielder in for Fabregas depending on the line ups and ditch Wasilewski. No other pressing moves I don't think. What defender would you recommend for 5.0 or less? Have PVA wisdom as other budget defs. Wife has told me she is going out tomorrow so I have to put kids to bed... Unbelievably selfish from her, can't devote 45 mins to sorting my team out tomorrow so need to know what Im doing now!
