With his side having failed to score in 11 of their last 15 Premier League matches, Hull boss Steve Bruce was desperate to add some firepower in the January transfer window. Just minutes before the transfer deadline, the Tigers were able to secure the signing of Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame N’Doye for a reported fee of £3m.

The 29-year-old Senegal international arrives at the KC on a two-and-a-half-year deal and his new manager is clearly delighted with the last-minute acquisition:

“He will undoubtedly strengthen our squad and add a significant goal threat. You don’t see much of the Russian league but I’ve seen Senegal play a few times. He’s been a member of their team for the last couple of years and for years I’ve taken notice of that Senegal team. I think a lot of managers have taken notice of the African teams. Out of all the players who have been imported, the African players have made a huge success of it. Physically, they have all the attributes to play in the Premier League. I’m delighted to have completed the signing of Dame and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action for us.”

THE HISTORY

Born in Thies, Senegal, N’Doye began his career in his homeland for Jeanne d’Arc in 2003, where he played for three seasons before signing for Qatari side Al-Sadd. A year later he moved to Portuguese team Academica de Coimbra, where he made 25 appearances, scoring four goals.

In the 2007/08 season, N’Doye plied his trade for Greek side Panathinaikos, netting three times in 23 appearances. The striker was then on the move again, scoring seven goals in 15 matches for OFI Crete before signing with Danish side FC Copenhagen in January 2009. The powerful forward enjoyed his most prolific spell in Denmark, scoring 82 goals in 150 appearances in all competitions. During the 2010/11 season, N’Doye scored twice in the Champions League group stage to help Copenhagen become the first Danish side to qualify for the last 16, where they were subsequently knocked out by Chelsea.

In the summer of 2012, N’Doye joined Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow, where he settled quickly, scoring seven goals in the 2012/13 season. During his time is Russia, he scored 27 goals in 68 appearances.

N’Doye made his debut for Senegal in a friendly against Gabon in November 2010 and has clocked up 34 caps for his country, scoring nine goals. He featured in all three of Senegal’s matches in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, but failed to find the back of the net.

THE PROSPECTS

Having scoured the transfer market for a striker, Bruce will no doubt be relieved to have brought N’Doye to the club. Club record signing Abel Hernandez has found it hard to adjust to English football and after scoring three times in his first five appearances, has failed to net since Gameweek 8. Fellow forward Nikica Jelavic has found the net six times, though like Hernandez, has struggled in recent months and scored just twice since Gameweek 7.

Given that Hull have only notched 21 times – the second-worst record in the top flight – it’s clear that Bruce needs to quickly address his side’s toils in the final third. The addition of N’Doye, who is known for his aerial ability, should allow Bruce to roll out a two-man frontline on a more regular basis, either in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2, with injuries all too often blighting his plans – the Hull manager has only been able to start Jelavic and Hernandez up front together on seven occasions.

Handed a sub appearance at the Etihad last Saturday, N’Doye could be in line to start tomorrow’s crucial home clash against Villa as Bruce looks to build on that morale-boosting draw at City. Indeed, that showdown with Paul Lambert’s side sparks the start of a superb run over the upcoming five (AVL, QPR, sto, SUN, lei), which could well define Hull’s season.

Coming in at 5.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, N’Doye could become an interesting prospect if he can hit the ground running and take advantage of that schedule. Certainly, there are plenty of strong options in the budget forward bracket, with Harry Kane becoming a “must have” in most people’s 15-man squads and Jermain Defoe also staking a claim, but with Danny Ings’ fixtures taking a turn for the worse and Charlie Austin injured, N’Doye may be an outside bet as a cut-price alternative in our short-term plans.

H2H Draft league round 2 tonight. Team set up right?...

    Pantilimon

    Azpilicueta-Koscielny-Lescott

    Ozil-Hazard (c)-Coutinho-Mane-Nasri

    van Persie-Diouf

    Bench: Jelavic-Benteke-de Jong-Vlaar-Forster

I can either play Vlaar and go 4-5-1 with dropping Diouf. Or draft in Yoshida or Reveillere for one of those crappy strikers and do the same.

Would really appreciate some thoughts thanks!...

Goal is to field 11 on blank GW27 and have 2FT for GW28 I'm assuming?

So just work it out so you have no more than 3 players (CHE/TOT/LEI/QPR) for the blank GW27

Thanks Ruberx. so you have Hutton ahead of Wisdom. Intersting.

How about GK? (bare in mind I have PvA) should I double up on Sunderland or cover Toon?

Think doubling up on Sunderland is a calculated gamble/risk worth taking.
Based on QPR's away record, and remember no Austin.

Wisdom may have been dropped from starting lineup so keep that in mind.

Also think its more likely that Southampton will keep a CS rather than Elia contributing points.

          Just some food for thought.

I'd avoid all together if I were you mate. LvG looks seemingly clueless at the minute and is putting up a huge front. When you're playing a long ball against West Ham you know you're shot of ideas.

this is a forum for football discussion, unless a link is cited, you should assume that a post is either someone's opinion or they are looking for opinions.

There is language designed for opinions - "do you think", "I believe"...

And there is language designed for facts - "will he", "won't he"...

There are too many opinions expressed as if they are facts on here.

it was a question, "will he start"

            simple options:
            1) we'll find out on Wednesday but I think A, B and C
            2) probably because A, B, and C
            3) probably not because A, B, and C

and then your option which helps no one and is worthless.

I'm getting a third shirt with Blind on it, ILF..just been waiting to be sure that LVG does favor him before buying it haha (even though I know he was one of HIS signings, unlike Herrera/Shaw)

runs the risk of misplacing a through ball on the pitch and then being called blind 🙄

he's quality, one of my favorite players at United right now tbh..plays my position and does it in a very clean and efficient manner..he could be a bit riskier in his pass selection IMO..a bit toooo much sideways, but he does his job well and he's not necessarily a deep lying playmaker such that we should be relying on him for defense splitting through balls or lofted passes..

if you're buying specialists for each position you shouldn't need your CAM to offer defensive work (like tackling)..you can still defend nonconfrontationally through positioning which he does.

              Mata >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rooney at #10

You don't seem to understand much about the modern game. Defense and forward pressing requires every player in the team to be involved.

The secret of Liverpool's improvement is the pressing game. Which is made easier by their 3-7-0 formation. 😉

I understand plenty. You don't need to be diving into tackles and shouldering people off the ball to contribute to your team's defensive endeavors.

You don't seem to understand how to speak with people without being condescending.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 25

Phew, with two exams tomorrow I'm impressed I've remembered this! Ladies and gentlemen... It's Scout Picks Challenge time!

    Gameweek 23 results: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/9666869

As previously mentioned with two exams tomorrow, GW24 won't be out until those are complete. I've got a nice 2 hour journey back up to Manchester from London to get me going though...

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Tuesday 10th February, 19.30pm.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
    2nd place: 2 points
    3rd place 1 point

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. Essentially, if you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 3 scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

The spreadsheet used to calculate the scores and hold the rankings etc will be made publicly available at the following link:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/oyuz31n7ppeccuu/Scout%20Picks%20Challenge.xlsm?dl=0

Also note: Up-to-date results will be posted at the end of a matchday when bonus points have been confirmed and added by FPL HQ. I may not be able to update results immediately due to work commitments, so please bear with me.

PVA dropped back again in FPL Stats table. Must be ten days on the trot he's almost gone up only to be dropped back just before the changes.
Over 100,000 net transfers in since his last price change.

Thanks RuberX. I shall wait with baited breath (more likely snoring).

FPL Towers obviously want him to rise. Must have wiped out the huge -% he was before.

I've got the funds to do caz > Sanchez after we see the team sheet but I'm starting to wonder how "essential" Sanchez is especially if cazorla is also starting. Already have giroud and Bellerin. I'm starting to think about saving the transfer to help cope with the Chelsea/Spurs blank and subsequent DGW.

Not essential. Cazorla if starting is as good a pick Sanchez with an effective -4.

0 ITB with 2 FT. Any thoughts now that it looks like Sanchez will play?

See what the team sheets throw up tomorrow. If you need to use one ADM to someone.
