Our Friday lunchtime analysis of the PlayON Player Price List arrives once again, as the minutes tick down until another deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have extended their deadline for submitting teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – tomorrow that’s 12.45pm, when West Ham and Palace get the Gameweek underway at Upton Park.

This week there is over £1,500 in Guaranteed Pots and £300 in Free Entry Pots on offer at PlayON – check out the games here.

Goalkeepers – Adrian
The Spaniard was the top scoring goalkeeper last week and accrued an impressive 1925 PlayON points despite conceding two goals to Spurs. That tally included six saves (worth 200pts each) bringing his total to 25 stops over five matches. Priced at 7.1m, Adrian faces a Crystal Palace side short on strikers and even if the Eagles do score, the 9%-owned Hammers keeper appears likely to balance the bring home the save points. David De Gea (8.0m) is our other pick in goal this week as Man United welcome a Sunderland side that have scored just once in three league outings. With no injuries in defence, Louis van Gaal’s back-four is perhaps a little difficult to second-guess, leaving De Gea – who is owned by 24% of PlayON managers – a safer option for those looking to invest in the Red Devils’ rearguard.

Defenders – Daryl Janmaat
Having suffered a demoralising 5-0 loss at Man City last weekend, Newcastle will be desperate to bounce back as struggling Aston Villa pay visit. Janmaat has already assisted six times this season – only Leighton Baines has managed more amongst defenders – and, having recovered from a slight groin injury, is available for just 7.0m this weekend. John Carver’s side have just one clean sheet in 14 but bearing in mind that Villa have failed to score in each of their last six road trips, Janmaat, with a mere 8% ownership, is a perfect left-field pick. Laurent Koscielny has produced two goals and as many clean sheets in Arsenal’s last three home league matches. Setting you back 8.4m, the in-form Frenchman (12% ownership) offers a decent shout for points at both ends of the pitch against a visiting Everton side that have failed to score in three of the last five Gameweeks.

Midfielders – Victor Moses
Prior to Stoke’s 4-1 defeat to Man City in their previous home match, Mark Hughes’ side had notched six goals in three at the Britannia and will expect to get back to winning ways as Hull roll up this weekend. Coming in at 7.8m and owned by 26% of PlayON managers, Moses scored his second of the season from the spot in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa last Saturday and his strong underlying stats bode well for further returns. Man United have scored 19 goals in nine matches at Old Trafford since Angel Di Maria (29% ownership) last netted in the league in November. The 13.3m-priced winger has provided a steady supply of assists, though, creating four goals in as many matches, and his total of 10 attempts on goal over that period suggests his goal drought could be coming to an end as Sunderland roll up to Old Trafford.

Forwards – Diafra Sakho
A goal against Spurs last Sunday was the West Ham forward’s first since New Year’s Day. Sakho’s strike took his tally to eight for the campaign and with a home clash against Crystal Palace up next, the Senegal international will be looking to reprise the form that saw him net in five successive matches in the autumn. With Andy Carroll out for the season and Enner Valencia failing to score since November, Sakho – who costs 8.5m and currently sits in 11% of PlayON teams – will fancy his chances against a defence that has managed just one clean sheet in six under new boss Alan Pardew. We almost went for Olivier Giroud as our essential forward but after a misfiring display at the Emirates on Wednesday we’ve turned to Sergio Aguero once again. The 29%-owned Argentine’s midweek consolation against Barcelona was his fourth in three appearances and a trip to Liverpool promises goals, with a total of 20 scored in the last five league clashes between these sides. Available for 15.0m, Aguero has the most shots (90) of any player in the league to date and has already breached the Reds’ backline, after netting in the 3-1 Etihad win over Brendan Rodgers’ side earlier in the season.

Head over to www.PlayON.co now to get your teams in for the Free Entry games and the £1,500 in Guaranteed Pots.

    @Kakibangku

Tripling Saints D-fence is pretty much like printing money and probably shouldn't be allowed.

Still get people on here saying "too many eggs in one basket" as if having several other baskets made out of Stoke or West Brom defences is any safer.

Difference now is they are much more expensive than they were earlier this season. Slightly over priced if you compare to w brom or hull def

Would have to do a £/point analysis to see if that's the case but I don't think they are.

Also if you have Hull, West Brom, Saints defender - you are hoping for x3 cleansheets in different ground around the country.

With x3 Saints you just need 1! And they keep getting them!

Basically the all eggs in one basket thing is correct, it's just the basket is like a titanium fort knox style basket with anti-grav jet packs and a roll cage.

a good cross section of the league considering it represents almost 40% of the PL season, a significant sample you could say - or if you prefer, 6 good teams and 9 sh*t teams

No it's not been as money-printy of late. But that's the same clean sheet record as Chelsea for example.

Put another way you've got a x3 player team for about £16m that earlier this season got 18-21 points 5 gwks in a row. In fact barring injuries that haul has come in about as many gwks as it hasn't. And when it hasn't you get 6pts.

How much would you spend on a midfielder who got you 20 points once every 3 gameweeks and in the 2 fails he got you 6?
(Of course this is rhetorical as you'd captain that guy every time - but still, it's 16m very, very well spent imo).

I'm not against doubling and trebling up on defenders, in fact Southampton have performed well enough for it to have worked this season. That doesn't mean it would always work, or work all the time. This is a fluid game, you might profit by jumping off assets at some points, as you may have done over the last 15 for Soton defenders if you picked the right replacements.

The main reason I replied was due to the 'licence to print money', and now 'titanium Fort Knox basket' comments, to which '10 in 15' is all that needs to be said really.

i think you are both correct and wrong
by the end of the season it will have proven to have been wise if you did it and stuck with it.
Where it won't work is by selecting sections of the season and trying to make it work, the chances of landing it and moving away from it at their peak would be slim.
Where people see it as a negative is when they have jumped off and on the double or treble and failed.

But you would also probably find that by the end of the season if you had picked one chelsea one spton and one arsenal and stuck with them throughout you could probably have got similar returns.

this is a bit of a short answer, but this season is looking very much like last season in comparison to doubling up or two from different teams. difference being it is spton rather than everton last year.

Christian Eriksen!! May I ask why so many people are so keen on bringing him in for the upcoming DGW?? My opinion is that if Eriksen starts against Chelsea on Sunday, he is pretty much 100% guaranteed that he will not start against either one of Swansea or QPR. Would the likes of Lloris, Vert be a better choice??? Just throwing it out there?!?!

My done and over with strategy:

Used my 2 FTs to go PvA > Dawson and Terry > Bertrand, and this is my GW27.

    Heaton (Panti)
    Baines, Bertrand, Bellerin, Dawson (Baird)
Sanchez (vc), Silva, Cazorla, Boyd, (Hazard)
    Defoe, Aguero (c), (Kane)

Next GW, 1 FT to do Defoe > Austin and 1 hit to do Cazorla > Eriksen

Looks good. I've got 2 FTs and will use one to bring in Eriksen (Kane riding the pine this weekend), but I'm still in two minds whether to use the other one to bring in Austin for Giroud. Arsenal vs QPR could be gold, but then again Giroud might be benched.

The angst of these decisions. Ultimately, I tend to go with probabilities that, in general, on average, good players with more games tend to outscore good players with less games. Plus, it's more fun to be able follow your players over more games. (I'd spend for that...)

That last argument might just sway me. The possibility of clinging onto hopes that an Austin hat trick in the final game of the GW might save me 😀

Well, it's really about probabilities, so it certainly does not guarantee that Austin's two games will yield more points than Giroud's one game, but I'd likely always bet on the guy with more opportunities to score than the guy with fewer opportunities to score.

This is my dilemma. I'm between the following, probably a one week punt but the cheaper ones could replace Boyd as my 5th mid going forward:

      Walters
      Moses
      Downing

I’d be very grateful for your help. I have 2 FTs and 0.2ITB. This is my team for this week.

    Should play:
    Ospina
    Dawson // Clyne
    Sanchez // Di Maria
    Defoe // Aguero

    Probably won’t play:
    PVA // Wisdom

    Definitely won’t play:
    Kane // Terry // Oscar // Hazard // Colback

    This week:
    Wisdom+Oscar -> Wolls + Cork

    Next week (-4):
Colback+Defoe-> Eriksen + Austin (or other DGWers if any injuries)

    Or any other ideas?

"Needs match rhythm" does Carrick. 🙄

Why doesn't that apply to Blind or RvP?

So glad I didn't get Rooney in now. Won't be owning another United player this season.

Really stuck on who to captain between Ozil and Aguero.

Ozil has scored double figures in last 2 home games and has Everton at home
But then, Aguero has been scoring too and Liverpool were 120 minutes in Turkey.

Anyone able to throw in any arguments that might help me choose?

    A) Play 9 and hope PVA plays to field 10?
    B) Swap out Wasil for Free and Play 10 and hope PvA plays to field 11 (will mean taking a 4pt hit next week)

Surely play 9 and pray that Gus gives PvA the nod...?
