Here goes. So I destroyed my team last month on the WCS with the foolish notion that I should go for broke and not be content to methodically move up from 6k to 2-3k if I shored up my fairly template squad. As most would have predicted, I have freefallen to just inside 40k.
Don't even know what my goals are anymore, but I am now thinking that my plan all along to bring Kane in and captain him makes no sense if I want a dramatic rise up the ranks. I would imagine that at least 25-30k of the people ahead of me will captain him, so I might skip him completely and captain Austin while bringing in three other nonKane Spurs.
It's like I have enough chips left to play the blinds but nothing more, and I might as well make some all in moves to see if I can build up some cash.
For many of you this will be upsetting, but any thoughts on risk would be appreciated.
4 weeks ago I did Kane > Gayle. Then Kane scored 13, 12, 11 and 4. Kane had bad fixtures and was playing Pulis, Wenger and Rodgers. So yes I've learnt to not be oversmart, not take risks and just play like the sheep...
I hear you, Kane to Oscar and a 3-5-2 here. Shockingly bad result.
Maybe just bringing in Kane and not captaining him to half the risk if he score big. I have both Austin and Kane. Spurs have 6cs all season Austin could easily score in either game

I think going without Kane is madness tbh !if you wanna go different get Kane and maybe chadli over eriksen or vert maybe to get a goal for you !you can play with your captain choice as well !maybe austin over Kane but I'd say have Kan. In your team atleast
It's no use getting differtentials for the sake of it, they have to score more than the 'template' (ie. players that score lots of points) players.
It really depends on your targets. If you want top 10k, you can easily make that up by being sensible. If you want higher, then you'll have to take risks somewhere. That being said, I do think Kane will score well, which would likely leave you well adrift...
I'd personally just plug away with some well informed diffs along the way. Take some hits if necessary to get your team on track. (I took a -16 the week after I wildcarded, and it was the best decision I've ever made)I am halfway through that corrective process having gotten Silva and Bertrand in on a -8 this week. Just trying to figure out how big I want to go this week as I had always planned on more hits as the second part of the restructuring.
I'm sure you're somewhat disheartened, but it's better to try and fail, than to never try at all. 😀
Catchup can be fun as you can afford to take more risks and mix it up a bit.
Kane is the most essential player in the game right now. You will lose more ground if you don't have him. Risk is good if you want a dramatic rise up the ranks but forgoing Kane will be to your detriment I'm afraid. I better move might be to find differentials that might actually be better than the current template. Eg, Ozil over Sanchez, Ivan over Terry, Triple WBA defence, Costa? then mix up your captaincies and don't go with the one at the top of the captains poll.
Cheers for the thoughtful replies. In a way, it is actually making the game more fun to resolve myself to break from the norm and spend the time figuring exactly how much deviation needs to happen at each step.
The responses to my second question below make me think I might want to cap it at four or five of those template attackers.

I just did that. Join me in a land of hits and great "on paper" moves that sometimes actually pan out. But sometimes don't! Just seems like the move that needed to be made, if it's not Sanchez, which seems a move that would give more heartache if Alexis had a big game.

So I was planning Cazorla > Eriksen for the DGW, as well as the obvious Defoe > Austin, but after today I'm thinking of changing Sanchez instead of Caz.
It would also give me the money to do Austin > Costa for GW29. Make sense or stick with original plan to ship Cazorla?I think it could go either way so go with your gut.
