Goals are the lifeblood of our Fantasy lineup and the quest for goalscorers is, of course, a major factor in our selections on a weekly basis.

While several players have already shown their prowess in this area with two goals to their name, the statistical data available to our Members, and in particular the ICT Index, enables us to spot and monitor those who are yet to make their mark but are, nonetheless, finding themselves in goalscoring positions and posing a key threat to the opposition.

In this latest Members article, we take a look at the top players amongst midfielders and forwards in terms of the current “Threat†score within our ICT Index, identifying those players who have so far delivered on their promise, and those which seem likely to find the net in the near future.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Agreed - it's all good advice. I do think there is room for early transfers to avoid price rises though.

there should be a new FFS function where this excellent post is submitted as the default reply to pretty much all questions being asked this week.

"Should I get ryan taylor in?" ...I refer the right honourable gentleman to the answer jimrod gave some moments ago.

Yes it's solid advise. I'm of the same opinion. I only got 30 points last game week but I'm making no changes. I just got unlucky. Zamora and Torres, horror show. Chose Yaya instead of Silva etc.

Keep the faith for a while, don't waste points on transfers.

He isn't playing a holding role now, he swaps between that and a more attacking role depending on fixture.

Man City may go one up top (Dzeko) against an attacking team like Spurs, with Ageuro on the bench and Yaya Toure playing behind him.

Barry + De Jong in the defensive midfielder roles (If De Jong is fit, that is).

        not true Forest4life.

Yaya played that role because dejong was injured. There is no evidence to suggest that will remain the case when de jong returns. YaYa is still the biggest threat on goal after two games out of any midfielder, according to FFS.

Nasri can play wide or centre behind a striker. He has been bought because he is flexible.

+1. Mancini has now got a bunch of flexible attacking players who can play in midfield, central roles and wide. Some will switch mid game depending on how its going, some will play at the same time, some will not.

Man city are going for the league and champions league as well as FA cup and carling cup this season for the first time. They will rotate as the season goes on. There is no way that you can say that Nasri will play centre 100per cent and that Yaya is now de jong's replacement. Yaya will sit deep some games, come forward others. Nasri will be benched, start, play wide play centre. Flexibility is the key to Man City's signings.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. This season success will not be so much about picking the right players, but picking the right Man City players. Nasri, Silva, Toure, Ageuro, Dezko...even Milner, Barry and Johnson will all score big in certain games...going to take some skill spotting which one it will be each game.

Toure is marginally easier...if de jong is injured warning bells ring and say he will be less of a threat.

A home, away differing line up may soon develop...worth keeping an eye on.

Swans back 4 last year was...

                    Taylor / Williams / Tate / Rangel

Altho monk is club capt, he seemed to be more back up.

This year, caulker seems to have taken Tates place in that 4.

Tate played in first game as Taylor was banned for getting a red in first 5mins of play-off semi V forest.

Williams and Rangel are nailed on (you seen rangels opta stats this year?) but are 4.5m

I think taylor is 4m - best bet?

Guys need some advice. So currently I have Nani and Odemwingie (already used my free transfer out of complete frustration at Saha not playing!)

So i'm looking to either leave the team as it is, or take an 8 point hit replacing Nani with Anderson and Odem with Bent (leaving me with 1.5m spare). Or Nani with Anderson and Kompany with A.Cole (2.5m spare). Leaning more towards Ando and Bent or leave it as it is.

    Thoughts?

        Hilario (Vorm)
Enrique Kompany Smalling (Simpson, De Laet)
        Nani Silva Yaya Jarvis (Tiote)
        Rooney Odemwingie Suarez

One, some people's idea of fantasy football is putting all the big names and players you like in RL together.

well i already made the transfer, my boy big oak's agreement sealed the deal so if it fails i blame him.

i'm not convinced odem will hit the ground running, and i'm also not sure how he'll go with long in the team. admittedly, not the biggest expert on west brom.

also, bent gives me a frontline of bent/suarez/rooney which means that injuries/bans notwithstanding, i should be set for fairly regular returns and not have to worry about them. so long-term, the 4 points will hopefully be justified.

(i also think that if bosingwa keeps turning out for chelsea, then his price will rise rapidly which will hopefully also be beneficial in the long run).

Just kidding around. It looks pretty strong, I think. But that's because it's very similar to mine. Some strong players already going well and rising, rest yet to fire but sound on paper. Tweak it week by week and you should do ok, or plummet down the rankings with me. Either way, fun times.

To people who own Malouda - what are you doing with him?

I have had him for the first two gameweeks, but not completing 90 minutes in eiher game has shown he is subject to rotation. With Mata joining and possible interest from Juventus is it better to stick or twist?

I am planning to keep him in for this gameweek and see what happens, so would be interested to hear what other Malouda owners are planning.

    Cheers

i've got both malouda and yaya, neither of whom i'm particularly happy with.

i'm hoping that mancini will play 451 away to spurs which might give yaya more freedom than last week, and with malouda's fixture it'd be madness to get rid of him - even a 15-20 minute cameo could potentially net him serious points a la suarez last week.

long-term i'm gonna move him on, i'm thinking that there are enough 8-10 point midfielders that a suitable replacement will present himself - leaning young/nani and speculating about mata right now.

Captain Poll looking very tight this week guys.

    Pros and Cons of each?

    Ill start,

Rooney - Very much in form,
    - At Home,
    - Against an Arsenal who have just been beat at home
and look in a bit of a state,

    - Arsenal put up a decent showing last night at Udinese.
    - Hernandez back possibly mean Rooney dropping deep?
    - Hernandez may take points from Rooney

    Anyone else want to input?

totally agree. it seems rooney enjoys playing with welbeck more, as they both can roam their positions while hernandez is a poacher always playing on the last shoulder which obliges rooney to always go deep

Yes, hernandez wont start. He will be bench.

Rooney has been playing deep off Welbeck, so if he does there will be no change to his position.

Torres has best fixture, but is awful. Could even been on the bench - couldnt score in a dutch brothel

Bent - he can score anywhere, but in a local derby. Could be tight game, especially under McDef

Suarez, in form - but will he start. I think so, so for me its him.

      Well, at the moment...

Suarez - 10/11 to score any time
Rooney - Evens to score any time

        So Suarez it is!

I want to pick Suarez to over Rooney. But, what will Dalglish do with Suarez? Might not start, will definitely not play the whole match.

Of course, he doesn't need the whole match to do damage.

My decision is currently between Rooney and Suarez also.

Suarez seems to be a points machine at the min,
But there are issues around his fitness (maybe why he played most of the game last night?)
If he starts he could really do some damage.

Rooney for me, would be Suarez if I could be sure he'd play 90 min.

I broadly agree with your sentiments but must insist that,in all probability Torres could score in a Dutch Brothel - even uncle Avram could score in those.

Should the hookers decide to organise a kickabout in said brothel then yes, Nando wouldn't stand a chance.

even if rooney is playing deeper then i'd expect that a united win will see him heavily involved. also, he's a streaky player - once he hits form he historically goes on decent pointscoring runs.

Thats what I wanted to hear, especially seeing as I have fletcher so it doesnt really make sense to have the wolves striker and the villa goal keeper on field!

I'll be watching with baited breath, seeing as he will be replacing Ramsey as Arsenal are probably going to get demolished this weekend

C - I wouldn't take a 4 point hit to take out players like Nani & Baines with the fixtures they have this week, it will end in tears.
