Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as next Wednesday’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the eleventh instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup V up and running over the season run-in.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup V, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 28, with the first rounds running on Gameweek 29.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to Wednesday March 11, when we’ll stop entry and will be drawing the first round ties from the qualifiers.

There will be 512 qualifiers for the members cup and 1024 for the Paddy Power Cup XI – depending on the number of entries. All our previous winners gain a bye into the first round draw where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 28.

FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup

How do I enter?

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of current entries.

The Paddy Power Cup XI entry list can be found here.

The Members Cup entry list can be found here.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around March 11 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Does anyone else think Sanchez is a better captaincy option this week as Aguero will most probably get limited game time (max 60 mins I guess) with Barca round the corner?

Aguero is a good option even with 60 minutes. Think Pelle knows that it's quite impossible for them to go through in CL now, so can't see him taking off Aguero unless they are winning comfortably. Sanchez is a good option as well, but a bit risky.

They are 1-2 down, yeah I know its Barca but I don't believe Pelle as a proffesional football manager will be that negative.

FA Cup winners of this round, will either hv a DGW in gw 31,34 or 37. Unlikely gw 31, most prob gw 34 with Chelsea DGW. So hopefully gw 34 is a big bash.

    --------------------------Panti------------------------

    ----Terry - Clyne - Ksoc - Dawson - Rose---

    Hazard - Sterling - Cazorla - Eriksen - Boyd

    -------------Aguero - Giroud - Kane-------------

    -

Okay rough plans for over the next 4 weeks:

Week 1: Cazorla ---> Silva (still have Giroud and Kosc)

Week 2: Sterling ---> Ozil (Liverpool fixtures start to take a dive)

    Week 3. Save

Week 4. Bring in Ivan or Costa using 2FT to downgrade somewhere

What do you think? Obviously, a lot can change as the weeks go on.

If Arsenal win tomorrow, youre **** with that plan. Its nice with a long term plan, but this is way to specific, as alot can happen in a week or two.

Yep. It's just PL games where there seems to be some sort of agreement with UEFA. FA Cup replays are ok - at least they have been in previous seasons.

Why is there a different threshold for fouls inside and outside the box? So frustrating...

Good articleabout one of the major mistakes football made in the early-mid 90's (along with introducing 3 foreigner rule rule and several places for some league in the Champions League. Football was once a game where lesser teams stood some kind of hope and bigger teams had to earn the places into latter stages. Now, we can all say in confidence that the 2015-16 Champions League last 8 will include Barca, Real, Bayern, Chelsea and the like - and thats before there's even been a ball kicked. Remember 1994 World Cup? No England, no Portugal, no France, no Uruguay. Why? Because it wasn't so easy for anyone in those days.

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2012/feb/15/forgotten-story-17-november-1993

"Modern football is a dispiriting compromise of safety nets and second chances: the big teams are protected by seeding, play-offs, larger tournaments and consolation prizes like the Europa League (even if that is often greeted with an enthusiasm previously reserved for Bullseye contestants who were eyeing the speedboat and ended up with just their Bus Fare Home). The delicious cut-throat element of football has all but gone. For the big international sides, qualification for major tournaments has become such a formality that even Steve McClaren almost managed it."

Exactly. You cant do this. The quality of a sport in anyera boils down to competitiveness and excitement. Money basically reduced both these days

Ahead of the Champions League clash between PSG and Chelsea, the defender has taken aim at his former coach.

David Luiz has stoked up the tension surrounding Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League last 16 second-leg clash with Chelsea by claiming Jose Mourinho "is not special".

PSG travels to Stamford Bridge with the tie level at 1-1 following the first leg at the Parc des Princes, however, Chelsea holds a slight advantage courtesy of an away goal in the French capital.

Luiz left Chelsea for PSG in a 50 million pound move last June after his only season under the stewardship of Mourinho, who has long been referred to as "the special one".

But Luiz told a L'Equipe journalist: "He is special for you, not for me. I had some great moments at Chelsea and won a lot of titles. I was very happy.

"They are having a great season, defend well and have great players but above all I know my team. We will try to score there and play like we know how. We will have a good game plan and implement it the best way possible to achieve a great performance. Both can still qualify."

You know what's special, sideshow bob? 7-1 is special #goodthingimnotbrazilian

    Hope he plays CB
