Game week 29 delivers a quartet of three o’clock kick offs before Man City make their way to Burnley in the evening’s Turf Moor showdown. Arsenal could make it five wins on the bounce when they host West Ham at the Emirates, whilst Tony Pulis will be looking to get one over former club Stoke as the Baggies look to bounce back from a pair of defeats to midlands rivals Villa.

Arsenal attempt to record an eighth successive home league win as they welcome London rivals West Ham United to their backyard. Olivier Giroud is the Gunners’ form man coming into this match-up, having netted in each of his last three starts. With five assists in seven outings, Mesut Ozil also looks back to his best, whilst Alexis Sanchez’ owners will be hoping for more of the same after the Chilean was amongst the goals at QPR last time out. The big news from the Gunners’ teamsheet is that both Santi Cazorla and Hector Bellerin have been relegated to the bench with Theo Walcott and Calum Chambers earning starts.

Leicester City search for their first win in six attempts as they play host to Hull City at the King Power Stadium. We’ll be hoping for big performances from Scout Pick Jeffrey Schlupp and Spot the Differential candidate Riyad Mahrez as the hosts embark on the first of seven home matches in their remaining 11 fixtures. Hull new boy Dame N’Doye will hope to consign Leicester to further misery at the foot of the table, having scored in all three of his starts for Steve Bruce’s outfit.

Sunderland entertain a resurgent Aston Villa side at the Stadium of Light as they strive to snap a five match winless streak. Those 2% of Fantasy mangers that picked up Jermain Defoe as a differential may call time on the 32-year-old if he fails to deliver for a fifth successive league outing. As for Villa, Tim Sherwood is able to call on Christian Benteke in today’s lineup as he recovers from a knock which saw him miss last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final victory.

West Bromwich Albion have their work cut out as they welcome a Stoke City team that are unbeaten in their last three away trips. Saido Berahino, who’s bagged three in four starts, will need to be marked diligently by the Potters’ defence, while Victor Moses will likely carry the threat to the Baggies.

Just three Gameweeks after holding leaders Chelsea to a draw at Stamford Bridge, Burnley face a home match-up against the Blues’ fellow title-chasers Manchester City. The hosts’ top scorer Danny Ings will fancy his chances against a Sky Blues defence that’s not recorded an away clean sheet since early December. For the visitors, David Silva’s 23.9% ownership will count on the Spanish playmaker to emulate his goalscoring exploits of last week, whilst Captain Poll favourite Sergio Aguero will be looking to continue the form that has seen him serve up returns in ten of his 12 away appearances.

    lost on last page;

someone wrote today "punt on your team, not your captain." this raises an interesting point about whether you should follow the herd and captain "the likely lad", the highest ppg player on any given gw. however i'm sure there are many exceptions to this rule, wondering what people think.

    1. Clam. ☘️
      • 11 Years

Follow the herd on captaincy decisions. Punt elsewhere. Don't take hits. Surefire way to go up the rankings.

yes i think that is the key factor in deciding who to captain. it is high risk, high reward stakes if you're trailing but it incontrovertibly makes the game of fpl more interesting

    3. Reedy
      • 15 Years
      10 years, 10 months ago

I think there are exceptions to every rule. It's probably decent enough advice generally, but the odd captain punt now and again can be fun and profitable.

      "punt on team not captain"

the biggest disadvantage of it is that u need FT to clear out players if they fail..which is what i am forced to do with defoe and walcott..captain fail is a 1 week thing..stuck with a punt player is for weeks.

nevertheless 3rd def, 4th mid are good places to punt on as u have extra backup in your team (4th def 5th mid etc)

as for captain punt i will say follow the crowd on easy games..i tried earlier on to haz(c)..he scores..but ultimately outscored by aguero and end up i am still worse off.

go for a captain punt on harder games..u are less likely to fail. gw34 is a good time for captain punt for eg

That guy put armband on Schlupp, success. Some put armband on Sanchez over Giroud just because everyone did so.
There is nothing like punt on team, not captain imo.

            No he didn't

            Aguero still playing

            6 points isn't a success, it's normal. 2 points is a failure but every thing that isn't a failure isn't necessarily a success

            1. Holmes
              • 12 Years
              10 years, 10 months ago

He'll get 2 bonus pts, so thats 8 which is around 12pts more. You can compare a captain with only a popular captain, not any random high scorer. Even if Aguero gets a brace, it wont be much more than Schlupp.
All this going with crowd so that you dont drop in rank is non-sense.

I can't see it myself but it does come down to results really. If United grind out points while City drop simple ones, things get interesting. All theoretical of course but I really think City are very complacent given how small a points difference there is.

Anyone else as dumb as me?

Saved a transfer instead of doing the obvious Austin to Giroud? Dare not think how many of the top 10k have Giroud 🙁
