Southampton’s Victor Wanyama was the latest addition to our Suspension Tightrope this week after picking up a booking in yesterday’s draw with Chelsea. The Kenyan joins Ciaran Clark, Cesc Fabregas, Phil Bardsley, Sebastian Larsson and Neil Taylor in the nine-yellow bracket, with the latter yet to feature in this evening’s home encounter against Liverpool.

Fabregas – despite his paucity of attacking returns in Chelsea’s previous four matches – remains the biggest concern for Fantasy managers ahead of the Blues’ double Gameweek 34 – the Spanish playmaker must safely navigate three clashes (hul, STO, qpr) before the 14 April cut-off date. Judging from the fact that Fabregas executed zero tackles against Saints – compared to the 24 that visiting duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Wanyama tallied – the former Arsenal midfielder is acutely aware of his predicament.

In further notable movement at the summit of the bookings table, Nemanja Matic earned his eighth yellow of the season against Ronald Koeman’s outfit, meaning Chelsea join Aston Villa as the only two clubs to have three representatives with eight or more yellow cards.

Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini was handed the only straight red of the weekend’s fixtures after a two-footed tackle on Everton’s Aaron Lennon. The Argentinian centre-back will sit out a home tie against Arsenal and trips to Sunderland and Liverpool, returning to face Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 33, though after the 3-0 Goodison loss, Magpies boss John Carver confirmed he may decide to appeal the decision:

“I’ve seen it from four or five angles in the dressing room and it is not conclusive. That might be the footage we have. When I saw it I thought it must have been a red card, that was my initial reaction. But when I came in at full-time it was difficult to decide (after the replay). What I will do is look at it again. If it’s worthy of a sending off I will accept it. If it’s not we will appeal. I am saying in all honesty I have tried to look at it from a number of angles and I still was not convinced.”

Tom Huddlestone received a red card in Hull City’s 0-0 draw with Leicester for two bookable offences. As this was his second red of campaign, Huddlestone’s ban was extended to two matches, ruling him out of a home clash against Chelsea and a visit to Swansea City. The 5.3-priced midfielder will be back in contention for the Tigers’ trip to Southampton in Gameweek 32.

Mile Jedinak is still two matches away from a return to Alan Pardew’s side and will be available for selection for the Eagles’ Gameweek 32 duel at the Stadium of Light. Meanwhile, Gareth Barry, Lee Cattermole and Claudio Yacob will serve the last of their bans and could be reinstated next Gameweek against Southampton, Newcastle and QPR respectively.

QPR’s Joey Barton and Villa right-back Alan Hutton return to contention this weekend after fulfilling their obligations. Barton could start for the R’s as they entertain Everton at Loftus Road, while a buoyant Aston Villa team welcome back Hutton for their home encounter against Swansea City – bearing in mind that Leandro Bacuna served up a pair of assists at Sunderland, however, it remains to be seen whether the Scot will make an immediate return to the starting line-up.

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson remains suspended pending the resolution of police investigations relating to off-the-field issues.

I know this may not be the best place to ask this question, but I do not know many people living in the UK (I live in France), and I have a work related question.

I'm currently applying for jobs in the UK (specifically England), and I've gotten several interviews so far. However, from the jobs that I've applied to (entry level and graduate programs), I've only gotten interviews/assessment center invites to graduate programs.

My question is: in England, is it better to apply to graduate program jobs (i.e the ones with full training), or should I continue to apply to both entry level and graduate jobs? Or does it really depend on the company? I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I've only gotten responses from graduate program jobs even though I've applied to entry level ones as well.

Apologies for the way off topic question but I would appreciate any input on the matter (especially those with experience). Thank you!

Which industry are you looking to get in to? Grad schemes definitely have their merits, but are always fiercely competitive to get on to.

        Computer Engineering.

Yeah someone told me that in the last thread as well.

I don't know much about Computer Engineering, but in my experience for consulting/insurance if you can get onto a Graduate Scheme it is a better starting point than entry level job, as there is often a set route for promotions and career advancements. You are also more likely to get higher level exposure - learning from more senior people, rather than doing lower level tasks - and more likely to do formal qualifications on the Grad Scheme than any job. If you have the qualifications for a Grad Scheme and are getting to the interview stages, keep up with it and you will soon get one.

Thank you for that reply! It's very reassuring! I have noticed that the Grade Scheme is usually better in the evolving period (especially for a new grad) because as you said, there is much more training and career advancements on the line, and they're usually more interesting jobs. That's why I've started to apply for them.

In my experience most students graduating with degree in the UK aspire to get on Grad Schemes, so keep on applying to those - nothing wrong with applying to 10-15 either. Good luck!

Apply for both. Obviously it depends on the quality of the in house training if it's an entry level position. Don't be afraid to ask for details on their training programmes or timetable when you go for the interview. From tgeir perspective it will bode well for you as it shows not only an interest in tye job, but of also wanting general progression.

What sort of thing are you applying for?

I'm mostly looking for technology related jobs (so consulting, development, testing, etc.). I've realized that the companies for the graduate programs tend to take a while to answer as well!

Okay. Well don't get downbeat but on average there are 70 applicants for every graduate job at the moment so patience may well be key. But from what my manager has said about grads we interview is that he's more impressed by the ones who ask a lot of questions about progression and yhthe training they'll receive as it shows genuine interest in the quality of the company

Ah ok I see. Yeah, I usually do extensive research on the company and make sure I have several questions beforehand, but it's definitely important to ask about the training for grad schemes, so I'll keep that in mind for the future interviews. Thanks a lot of the help, much much appreciated!

hi just a different perspective as my company runs grad programmes for a number of major uk businesses (tech/law/retail especially). Grad programmes tend to have a set (and slow) schedule of assessment/interview/hire so patience the key. But with your tech background or desire to work in tech - your skills are much more in demand and there are companies that will see you/interview you/hire you in much shorter timeframe. good luck with everything and given your speciality you are very likely to get something you want. Cheers

Thank you for your reply! That's also very reassuring to hear! Many of the grad schemes I have applied to ask for a technical background (even if there is a training involved) so hopefully that will be to my advantage. And as you said, I realize that the process takes a long time so I do need to be patient.

Never thought scoring 43 would be considered a good week, but there we go.

    Quick question:

    Panti/Hamer

    Kos/Fonte/C Dawson/Bruce/Baird*

    Hazard/Alexis/Silva/Punch*/Boydinho

    Kun/Kane/Giroud

    0.8IBT 1FT

Would really like to bring in Mane. Is it worth doing Fonte->Toby + Punch-> Mane for a 4 pt hit?

If not what other moves would you recommend? Many thanks

Would only be worth a hit if Puncheon is confirmed to be out. Otherwise do Toby in and get Mane the following week.

As a non Hazard owner I feel incredibly lucky that he blanked after a fine performance vs Saints. I want to avoid the template for as long as possible. How important a player is he for the next few GWs. Are the upcoming Hull, Stoke and QPR easy pickings for Hazard?

He's an easy permanent fixture for me. I think Chelsea have a DGW in week 34 so he'll be 'essential' at least for that week. Chelsea will probably start scoring freely again soon, I'd be trying to get him in if I was you.

Normally I'd get him in without thinking, but I'm about 60 points off the top and not owning Hazard is a differential (albeit not an enviable one). I don't have a wildcard either so I'm a bit torn

We'll need him back for gw33 I think

you mean 34? 33 is vs United

33 is a blank for a lot of teams so there wont be many other options.

Well done man. You are in a similar position to myself. The only way to catch up is to take risks with differentials. But i'm gonna keep Haz and look elsewhere. Perhaps Ozil and/or Sturridge at some point for me.

Your team is a bit more 'differential' than most I have seen, so looks very good.

Thanks. If you already have Hazard you should certainly keep him I think. I'm keeping tabs on Costa might bring him in soon but probably next week. Berahino/Ideye are super tempting then though.

You're probably better getting Costa and Ivanovic.

    2FT, 0.3ITB

    Pantilimon
    Fonte Terry Moreno (Dawson, Wasilewski)
    Silva Sánchez Eriksen Hazard
    Kane Agüero (Zamora)

After some input fellas...I have several moves I want to make and I'm looking to prioritise them. I'm also looking to avoid making upcoming DGW's awkward.

    Pantilimon > Ospina
    Cazorla > Coutinho
    Terry > Ivanovic
Fonte > Alderweireld (way to release funds)
Zamora > Giroud (this obviously requires work)

What to do with my 2 FT?

    Cheers!

      Sorry missed a midfielder:

      Pantilimon
      Fonte Terry Moreno (Dawson, Wasilewski)
      Silva Sánchez Eriksen Hazard Cazorla
      Kane Agüero (Zamora)

I think your best option is to change a GK to one with a DGW. The rest of your team is in good shape

        Ok...

        WK34 - DGW for Chelsea & Leicester
WK33 - NO GW for Arsenal & QPR

        Am I missing some?

I have Siggy, Haz, Caz and Eriksen.

With 2FTs I want to do Walters to Mané but I need to downgrade Krul/Panti or PvA for 4.3 GK or 4.1 def.

    Any Suggestion?

    Any ideas with 2FT & 0.8m ITB?

Thinking Panti and Wisdom/Wolly out maybe for West Ham/Swansea defence.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panti

    Bellerin // Clyne // Wolly

    Hazard // Sanchez // Silva // Eriksen

    Aguero // Kane // Austin

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    4m - Puncheon - Wisdom - Dawson
