A dire Gameweek 29 limps to its conclusion this evening as Swansea and Liverpool go head-to-head at the Liberty. Brendan Rodgers returns to his former club having guided the Reds to a 12-match unbeaten run since moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation and the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge have the chance to get amongst the points against a defence with a single shut-out in six in front of their own fans.

At the back, the visitors have been a consistent source of clean sheets in recent matches. The Merseysiders have kept out their opponents in six of the last eight Gameweeks and have Martin Skrtel available after the Slovakian recovered from a head knock that forced him off on a stretcher against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup stalemate last time out. Mamadou Sakho also returns as one of three centre-backs as Dejan Lovren drops to the bench. Rodgers has made further changes in the wing-back roles, with Glen Johnson and Lazar Markovic dropping to the bench: Alberto Moreno is recalled on the left while Raheem Sterling looks to be deployed on the right.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their 3-2 loss at Spurs in Gameweek 28. Prior to that defeat, Garry Monk’s men had registered back-to-back victories and earned three points in their previous match at the Liberty, courtesy of a 2-1 win over United.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was back in the goals last time out and has the upcoming fixtures to earn himself a place in our five-man midfields again, whilst Ki Sung-Yeung has notched three times in the last five and, at 5.1 in FPL, is staking a claim as a cheap budget option.

The teamsheet finds Monk forced into one change as Jordi Amat comes in for Federico Fernández who misses out for family reasons. Up front, Bafetimbi Gomis is available to lead the line after recovering from his collapse at White Hart Lane in the previous Gameweek.

Why dont they give that assist to Skrtel?
He deserve it as much as Studge
    Or Mignolet?

    Pantilimon (whu)
Terry (hul), Clyne (BUR), Bellerin (new)
Sanchez (new), Ozil (new), Hazard (hul), Eriksen (LEI)
Aguero (wba), Austin (EVE), Kane (LEI)

Foster (mci), Hutton (SWA), Boyd (sot), Lescott (mci)

    2FT's 1.1m on the bank.

Is Austin and Ozil to Costa and Ki a good idea?

    I am struggling.

Many thanks and post your teams with your response.

Sturridge's touch gets deflected by the first defender( doesn't alter the direction of the pass and is a shot on target).

Then the second defender tries to clear that shot (which is on target) and it's rebounds off Henderson into the net.

Assist according to the rules I think.

May not be a proper shot but It was heading towards the goal.

When players tuck/guide balls into the net, those do count as shots on target.

Apart from the fact that two defenders touched it and one of them sent it at right angles to it's original direction...Yeah...of course it was an assist....clearly...

The one big thing you have wrong here is it was not a shot,it was a pass played at about 3 mph, that gets deflected twice before hitting Forrest Gump and going in.

Ridiculous decision to give an assist for that.

      1. pundit of punts
        • 12 Years

Pass heading towards goal is kind of a shot on target.

When a player backheels the ball into the net we do count that as a shot on target.

I'm really stuck. I am set on getting Costa so thats a given. But I think I will get him next week and play Austin.
    I have 2 FT's and I need 0.5m to get him.
    Team is:

    DDG-4m
    Terry-Berty-Dawson-PVA-O'Shea
    Cazorla-Eriksen-Hazard-Silva-Boyd
    Aguero-Kane-Austin

    What do we think?
DDG to Fabianski then Austin to Costa next week
    or maybe
Cazorla and O'Shea to Mane and Toby and Costa next week
    or
Caz to Mane and Austin to Costa this week

I have that exact midfield. I was going to do Austin to Giroud but like the Everton fixture. Going without Costa though as I have Terry, Ivan and Hazard. The second option you have given really appeals to me of the 3 but just my opinion

Its just a decision I made a while back. There have been a few decisions I was convinced out of recently and the consequences have been huge, like Defoe over Giroud. So I will not be convinced out of Costa.

The mistake is asking for general opinions on here. They will only tell you to get the same team as them.

Occasionally I will ask a specific question to someone whose opinion interests me. But I have never posted a RMT since I have been using the site.

Not that I recall. Doubtless you could prove me wrong by digging something up if you wanted to. But it's not something I generally do.

I find it more interesting to debate and discuss stuff. But I don't usually ask advice about my team selection or transfers.

Would appreciate your insight into my 2 main concerns this GW:

    1. Can I go without Silva this week against WBA? have Aguero. Dont want to drop Eriksen because of fixtures. But all my rivals have Silva.

    2. Start Austin (EVE) or Kosc (NEW)? Tough one as Austin is due a goal but Newcastle look shoddy and Gunners look solid

      1. I would say yes, Eriksen could easily produce this week, even though I may captain Silva mind.

      2. Kosc for me.

Wait. You said (NEW), it should read (new)

          Austin then

my option to get silva would be

      kosc + puncheon ---> silva + naughton.

not ideal plus uses 2 FT and lose Kosc

Aguero , Costa , kane is the front 3

The key to the Sturridge assist is the word 'destination'. I always thought is was 'direction' and although it clearly changed the direction of the ball, if the intended destination was Hendo and it ended up with Hendo then by their own stupid rule it is correct. Ridiculous but there it is 🙄

    1. sinik
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 12 Years

destination is even dumber. of course that's the destination. it's always the destination, most of the time the pass or player is just bad! haha

    2. Colonel Shoe 肝池
      • 14 Years
      10 years, 8 months ago

it could go pin ball through a sea of legs and still end up being an assist if it comes out the other side then 😆

    3. The Machine
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 8 months ago

There are numerous examples when the significant deflection has not prevented the goal being scored by a player initially intended to receive the pass

And no assist being given. Can't recall any specifically, but there have been many

    4. Tony Yeboah
      • 12 Years

i dont mind that rule....was a gd first time ball by sturridge at the end of the day....went where he wanted and resulted in a goal....i was surprised it was given but is fair enough imo

      1. The Bandit
        • 15 Years
        10 years, 8 months ago

But what if the pass was over hit by 10 yards and was headed back to Hendo by the def? It would still count by this stupid rule
