The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

This evening we roll out the second round draws of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the fifth Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup.

There were mixed fortunes for our former FFS Paddy Power Cup former champions, with our team news man Demi’s score of 35 proving too much for past winner Wild Rover as he cruised through to the second round to face Brain Stem.

Gribude was another former champion to fall, with Snotgrass’s tally of 40 knocking him out in the first round. Toon_army_htl was the conqueror of reigning champion CMIFLFC, while former winner GoonerDave also missed out on a second round draw, after being removed by Blue Mooners.

That leaves three former champions in the competition after Jonty (that’s me) eased past Big Dolls to set up a round two encounter with Bahahahacelona and MCH defeated Aliminator to face Jonny in the second round. Donnellyc was another victorious former champion and he takes on I Just Did A Torres in the second round.

Other notable second round clashes include CB’s match with Mark, and Leaf’s clash with Paul.

Among our former Members Cup champions Trigg’s first round victory was the most eye catching. He saw off the top ranked FPL manager Dufflinks by the slender margin of one point in what was a low scoring week for many of the top ranked players. Trigg now faces Pdes in the second round.

Another former winner Fuzzy Dunlop was less fortunate. He fell in the first round to another community regular Jafooli, who now faces Mrben.

With Dufflinks’ departure, 12th placed Gratuzo is the Members Cup’s highest ranked surviving manager. Red5 who is ranked more than 400,000 places behind Gratuzo will be hoping to emulate Trigg’s success in claiming a big scalp in the second round.

The full draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI can be found here, while the draw for the Members Scout V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Anyone want to explain the Mane mania?

I don't say he's a bad option but I have read about people looking at Sanchez or Eriksen to Mane for a hit. Really?

I haven't had Sanchez for 2 months and wouldn't buy him right now. But if I had him I wouldn't be shipping him for a hit just before Arsenal play against Newcastle's decimated defence.

And Southampton aren't the most prolific goalscoring team to put it mildly.

So is Mane just your typical point-chasing FFS bandwagon or is there more reason to it than that?

I proudly owned Mane for his only blanks in the last couple of months. Grrr.

      RP.

Cheap, almost OOP, relatively low ownership. Good option with people wanting to do moves, rather than needing to do them, if you know what I mean. 😀

        Yep. Silly season then.

I can see far more value in saved FTs right now myself. Not that I have any. 😉

I guess Mane for a more expensive mid could be a decent enabler. But not for a hit surely.

I agree. I have to say, I think general consensus on FFS this week has been a bit mad, but I'm happy to sit back and watch how it unfolds. 😆

Also it frees up cash for Costa/Studge//Ivan and keep Kun

Yeah, that sounds perfectly reasonable. Sigurdsson or Mane would be good options in that case.

Same move for me, Puncheon ---> Mane. Leaves me 3.2 ITB to upgrade Austin after his DGW.

I had exact monies for Punch and Austin to Mane and Costa which I did on Sunday. Hopefully Costa outscores Austin for the DGW

My re-posting from last thread, too...

Great point. I also have wondered about the Mane mania. SOTON scores like a goal a game max, and you'd think Mane was scoring 2 goals a game himself.

I have Sanchez and am considering downgrading to Hendo, Mane, or Sigi to upgrade Austin to Costa or Giroud (post GW31), and have seen 10x more posts lauding Mane than I have about Sigi or Hendo. Curious bandwagon.

The problem with Henderson is a very likely Liverpool blank in GW33. I wouldn't look at any Liverpool till after that.

Agreed. If I choose to sell Sanchez to upgrade elsewhere, it may very well still be Mane. However, your point is a bigger one, and well-said.

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for a replacement for Foster. I already have Myhill, but I want someone else to play GW 31 (mci), 34-38 (LIV, mun, CHE, ars). I have 2.1 ITB.

    Thanks!

Surely there are more pressing/interesting moves you'd like to make then a GK transfer. Yes, Myhill will only score 1-3 against City this weekend, but then he has a nice stretch. I'd hold Myhill until you are using your second wildcard or Foster comes back, unless your team is amazing elsewhere.

        My team:

        Foster, Myhill
        Terry, Clyne, Naughton, Hutton, Dawson
        Sanchez, Hazard, Eriksen, Sterling, Boyd
        Aguero, Giroud, Kane

Thanks for the advice, but do you see anything else that is pressing?

True dat. I've watched most of the Barca matches this year, and Suarez has been excellent that past two months. He was setting up others for most of the year and missing some gimmes, but now he is doing both. He and Messi and Neymar are a force of little giants.

Someone care to clarify the teams who have a blank in GW33 and those that have a double in GW34?

    Thanks!

City need a miracle. Doesn't help that they're up against the best front three in the world.

I think Pellegrini is gonna start making rash and risky changes to his side in order to revitalise their chances of winning the league eg. starting Bony and Dzeko this weekend with Aguero on the bench

    😉
