The Premier League have this afternoon handed Fantasy managers yet another double Gameweek to plan for after rescheduling Arsenal’s home clash with Sunderland. The fixture, which has been moved out of Gameweek 33, has been shifted to Wednesday May 20, meaning both sides will now face a double Gameweek 37.

The Gunners face a testing trip to United on the Saturday prior to welcoming the Black Cats, who entertain Leicester before making their way to the Emirates.

Looking at the schedules around those Gameweeks, then, Arsenal will therefore face three home matches (SWA, mun & SUN, WBA) in the final three rounds of fixtures and given they’ve won each of the last eight in front of their own supporters, look poised for a strong finish to the season.

In the short term, though, this means that once this week’s trip to Newcastle is out of the way, Arsenal face home clashes against Liverpool and Chelsea and also have a blank Gameweek 33 to consider in the subsequent four.

Sunderland’s end to the season is far from straightforward, with today’s news handing them three away matches ( eve, LEI & ars, che) in the final three Gameweeks, with only that home clash against the Foxes as a source of optimism.

The Black Cats now travel to West Ham and have back-to-back home encounters against Newcastle and Palace prior to their Gameweek 33 blank.

Today’s news is something of a disappointment for those Fantasy managers who had held back their wildcards in the hope of a bumper double Gameweek. So far, all the fixtures that required rescheduling due to cup postponements have been allocated new dates – leaving QPR and Villa with a double Gameweek 31, Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 and Arsenal and Sunderland with a double Gameweek 37.

The only twist we can hope for surrounds Liverpool’s progress in the FA Cup. If the Reds win their replay at Blackburn, their Gameweek 33 trip to Hull would need rescheduling. Given that their Ewood Park encounter doesn’t take place until April 8, any possible double Gameweek would take place in Gameweek 34 or 37 – it cannot occur in Gameweek 35 or 36 as Champions League or Europa League fixtures take place in midweek and UEFA regulations stipulate that domestic matches should not run concurrently with European matches. A win for Blackburn, though, would scupper our best-laid plans.

Kun and Sterling => Benteke and Mane is tempting me.

    Would give me this team:

    Panti-Krul
    Terry-Kompany-Fonte-Bellerin-Dawson
    Silva-Hazard-Eriksen-Mane-Boyd
    Kane-Benteke-Austin

The only problems is that this would leave me 9 M in the bank 😮

Not sure what to think about that...

Still have the wildcard for later too.

    Any pointers?

You need a good mix man and that's all there is to it.

Don't go dropping Kane and Hazard or Ivan but if you wanna shift Sanchez to Ozil/Rambo or Aguero to Benteke next week then go for it!

Also take a punt on your 3rd/4th mid, get Siggy and Mane over Eriksen and Sterling.

Captain whoever will score the most points that week.

    Repost:

I think people plan too much.

There's too much chaos and uncertainty in football that makes over-planning risky.

Often by making plans and sticking to them you ignore your short-term instincts (not bringing in a player you think will score highly in the short-term, to save a transfer for someone you have a plan for in the long-term).

Horrible chance you end up missing out on both the short-term points and the long-term points - if you do too much of that - when fate intervenes in your careful plans.

"The best laid plans of Mice and Men oft do go awry" - as Steinbeck said.

A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.

I doesn't even help having a wc tbh as none of the teams with a DGW has an outstanding run of game but I may go in GW35, set up most of my team then and then only need a -4 or so in GW37 to get a Pool player or 2 (if they go into GW37) If Pool go into 34 I'll go then

people plan this and that more for fun as fpl is their hobby..guess most should have realize their plans will be destroyed by injuries/suspension etc but still they love to tinker with their teams.

even b4 season start they already start all the RMT which is pretty pointless tbh

Can anybody explain which teams have a blank coming up and which are (likely) to have a DGW soon. Basically which teams should I avoid and which teams should I be looking to bring in players from? It's all very confusing when I don't get to follow fpl very closely.

As a Cazorla holder I'm a touch nervous about Ramsey's recent efforts. I think he should start this week but maybe him being 'rested' last prem game really pointed to their closeness for the starting role.

I see Santi as a lovely neat footballer that knits things together very well. Is this true or am I deluding myself? As a vested fpl manager sometimes I just don't know whether to trust my observations anymore...

of cos those u mention are the main dgw players which everyone should already have in their teams by the dgw. even without a dgw these players should be of serious consideration.

u can try chasing then, but from my past experience i can say that it is wise to keep your head alert of other form players rather than getting DGW players becos they have a DGW.

Mane could be key in this. Coutinho's flashy but not sure if he'll score many more goals. Caz's time is up I reckon.

Sanchez needs to bounce back for you. He looks good but hard to say.

Eriksen & Silva are pretty much neck and neck.

In short, I think you'll catch up a bit but not enough if you don't change things around enough over the coming gameweeks based on doubles, fixtures and form.

Sorry that was a useless summary. Good luck.

    Who to bench...

    A. Silva (WBA)
    B. Mane (BUR)
    C. Eriksen (LEI)
    D. Cazorla (new)

Has to be D, even if Newcastle is weakened currently?

    Thanks!

      Eriksen.

Was at the Arsenal-Leicester game and Lei were pretty organised. Good shape, good possession. Spurs wont thrash them.

Probably Ajax, because Dnipro will try to defend more than attack.

    Hi Guys,

    Current team:

    Panti (Hamer)
Ivan, Kos, PvA, Lescott, Andy Robertson
    Eriksen, Silva, Mane, Haz, Blind,
    Giroud, Kun, Kane

Got 2 FT's for this week.

Thinking PvA & Giroud > Austin and Clyne?

Anyone have any other recommendations? Looking to part with Blind in the near future too. He was only drafted in during a difficult patch lol

Now with all the DGW date prediction talks put to bed by the PL authorities, time for us to focus on DGW31.

What do you guys say ?
    Sinclair..? 😉

I wouldn't waste any transfers on DGW31. I have Austin and I'll keep him. Otherwise, I'd be going without any.

If you have someone to bench, go for it. Personally prefer Zogbia/Delph over him

Yep, Sinclair for me unless Gru/Aguero/Kane do something real off putting this week, then -> Ben Tek

I have 2 FTs for this week, and I'll use 1 of them to sort out my GK issue.

So it means, I am going to GW31 with 2 FTs and that means at least 1 transfer is on the cards, and it'll probably be a foolish move to not take a DGW player with that. So one has to come.

Now questions obviously is, who ?

Silva hasn't looked the same. I'd be tempted to keep Alexis for this week. Bank the other FT after your GK switch.
