With Granville sulking on sabbatical, it was left to myself and Jonty and his flourishing facial hair to hold the fort, ably supported by this week’s guest, Luke aka D1sable.

Racking up one of the longest episodes for months, the three of us talk slippers, banish at least seven teams to the Championship and mention Jeffrey Schlupp as much as humanly possible. Despite missing Granville’s secret sauce, we also do our best to serve up the regulars, whilst addressing the quizzing and probing from the Fantasy Football Scout community – thats you.

Once again, if you escaped the horror of Monday’s live Hangout you can view the full movie below. Alternatively, you can enjoy our semi-slick, edited audio version via this link or the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Keep Austin or go Giroud. Leaning Austin.

Giroud - Tough at home Newcastle, tough fixture versus Liverpool; Bye Week 33
Austin - Tired Everton, DGW next week

    Thoughts?

I would rather have Giroud this week, but with Austin's DGW next week I would hold

Mane has the potential to be a cheap Walcott. Easily the best cut priced midfielder. I prefer Downing just a touch over Siggy also.

    Good morning DZ.

    Team
    Myhill
    Skrtel Bertrand Hutton
    Hazard Sanchez Silva Eriksen
    Aguero Kane Austin
    ---------------------------------------------------
    Foster Puncheon Bellerin Naughton
    2FTs , 0.5m

    Skrtel+Puncheon>>Ivan+Boyd(Exact cash) Good moves?

    Thanks 🙂

Is Punch out? Skrtel has to go with his fixtures and amount of £ he takes up. Do you have WC? Maybe there are other options than Boyd? I'll have a quick look

Punch will be back next week.
        I have a WC left.
Boyd has decent fixtures from GW 34.

Sure, but presumably you'll be WCing just before GW34. So you can pretty much ignore everyone's fixtures after that. Do you think you might NEED Punch in the next 4 gameweeks? Considered keeping and just upgrading Skrtel? I realise Ivan would be outta budget.

Maybe Skrtel > Toby and Myhill>Guzan? Or just the first? Depends how badly you want Ivan, you can get him in the WC in 4 weeks time anyway

Not sure I want to double up on any defense. But Toby is tempting.
I was thinking Ivan because Chelsea have decent fixtures till GW 33.

I know, I want him to, but just seems like you'd be using an extra FT as an 'enabler' Like Boyd wouldn't really come into your team in the next few weeks before WC would he? I'm sure you get my point. Could still be worth it, he's a beast

0.3m short of getting JT. Skrtel is better than Azpi imo.

Do you not expect Bellerin to start? He played on Tues ofc, but then Chambers looked iffy vs West Ham (as usual) Maybe you're right, I own him as well and thought he could start but Chambers has had all week off so maybe that was Arsenes plan..

Have 2FT and £4,8m in the bank. Keep Austin for the DGW, or upgrade to Giroud/Benteke? What to do with other FT?

    Myhill
    Clyne Clichy Bellerin

    Aguero Kane Austin

People who own both Foster and Myhill,
Are you simply letting Myhill step in? Or tempted by Guzan for the DGW? Basically it's £0.1m and 1FT to make:

    GW30 - (mcy) become (SWA)
GW31 (QPR) become both (man) & (QPR)

GW32 & GW33 - play Myhill then use WC. So getting Guzan would be a transfer just for 30 & 31

It's a tough one, I agree. I have Foster and Myhill but no WC

      Options are

      1. Keep

      2. Foster to Ospina and use Myhill to cover the LIV game and hope Foster isn't back for GW33

      3. Foster to Fabianski, no doubles no blanks

      4. Foster to Guzan

      Thinking Ospina at the moment

    2. Twisted Saltergater

I have Myhill and Foster and was considering Foster > Guzan this week. Thing is, Tim Sherwood teams aren't exactly good defensively, plus a blank from Aguero and we may profit from having Myhill.

Am seriously considering using my FT to do Sanchez > Walcott, believe it or not.

I'm in same spot as you. Have you considered the above though? It's hard to argue Guzan won't score a few more points than Myhill. If we think Villa have a 50% chance of a clean sheet vs Swansea it's easily worth it. Idk though

        1. Twisted Saltergater
          • 16 Years
          10 years, 8 months ago

Agree.. It's the Swansea game that is the key one. If I thought Villa would keep a CS in that then it would be worth the transfer.

This is interesting (for me at least)....my hand might be turned since I might be looking at Berahino for a 2 week punt before WC, in GW32-33. Too many West Brom is a problem with Foster, Myhill, Dawson!

          2. FionnMac
            • 15 Years
            10 years, 8 months ago

Yeah, they don't even have to be THAT likely to get a clean sheet though. If we assume that both City and Man U will score at home vs WBrom/Villa respectively, so allocate 1-2 pts for either (conservative side)

Remember Man U away is an EXTRA game. So if Guzan scores on average 3-4 pts vs Swansea away (obv it will more likely be 2 or 6ish but 3-4 is in the middle)...then Guzan will perhaps score 3-5 pts more than Myhill over those 2 gameweeks.

            All guesstimates ofc. Thoughts?

            1. Twisted Saltergater
              • 16 Years
              10 years, 8 months ago

I think Guzan will score around 4 more points than Myhill over the next 2 weeks. I'm likely to take a -4 if I use a FT on Guzan so it's a close run thing.

The thing stopping me is Myhill getting a sneaky CS vs Citeh :/

Agree with Nabil, between Ospina and Migs really
Looking at the fixtures between Gw34-38
Ospina (CHE, hul, SWA, mun/SUN, WBA)
Migs (wba/hul?, QPR, che, CRY/hul?, stk)

I'd place my money on Ospina tbh, it's tough. Pool's only tough match there is Chelsea away, while Gunners face them at the Emirates and also play United for the DGW. Also, if the Gw33 match is rescheduled on Gw34 or Gw37, the Pool DGW would appeal way more IMO, considering it would likely be against two ill offenses.

If you were to wildcard this week what team would you choose?

It seems so much has changed in the last few weeks that many teams are already feeling out of date, so who would you choose given your selling value?

    I will go first.

    Forster
    Ivanovic Alderweireld Sakho

This leaves enough to swap Costa to Aguero if needed.

I would agree with your team. Although I'd have Lescott instead of Naughton to double up on WBA and possibly a better option than Downing as the Hammers seem a bit out of form.

Lescott would kill the Aguero lifeline Ryan.

West Ham's fixtures turn now so Downing for a few games and then perhaps Henderson once Liverpool get past the two difficult games.

I just modified my def rotation sheet to allow double: LIV, SOT & WBA.
Top rated from now to end of the season was CHE SOT LIV SOT SWA

WBA have it good till just before the end. By then you'd probably sell one of them with a regular FT anyway

      Ivan - Toby - Kosc
      Silva - Hazmat - Coutinho - Mane
      Aguero(c) - Costa - Kane

Bench - 4.0, Dawson, Schlupp, Phillips

Bench Mane Gw31, play Phillips, Costa out for Tekkers(c) Gw31, Tekkers to Sturridge(c) Gw32, Sturridge to Costa (c) Gw34

Only downside for me is I already have 3 Arsenal who wouldve been great for GW34 now need shifting due to the blank and brought back in later 😆

        1. Walsh
          • 12 Years
          10 years, 8 months ago

Yeah I mean it's not really too troublesome. Just keep one or two, shift the other/s to Chelsea players who play in GW33. Can easily end up with 5 or 6 from the two teams for GW34 with at most one hit.

          1. BeachBadger

I may go Sanchez and Giroud out in a double whammy to get COsta in for the DGW. Then get both back later for their DGW. Bellerin needs shifting too to Kos when the time allows and possibly a cheeky Aguero to Sturridge if Liverpool have a DGW

In the grand scheme of things the WC is worth very little. Say change half your team for 4-5 hits? That's a saving of 20 points. That is nothing in the grand scheme of 2000 points for the season.

He has just not looked himself recently and they have plenty of players for now. I can see 4-3-3 now Ramsey is firing again. Coq - Ramsey and Caz - Wellbeck and Sanchez wide - giroud. Sanchez or Wellbeck could become Ozil or Walcott.

tbh even if u do not use a WC i would say u can comfortably get the players you want for dgw..so using the WC really depends on your current team.

it seems that there is no best week to use it since the dgw are so spread out. if u think a WC now will gain you immediate points then do it now..the value of a WC is diminishing every week.

ooh that's a point, depends on Liverpool's situation. If they go to 34 itll still be a great week to WC

Unfortunately I don't but one can dream, played mine 3 weeks before January :/

Actually having looked at it properly, I'm starting to lean towards 32. Pile in Villa and QPR on FTs for their DGW and then flush them out immediately and take advantage of Liverpool's change in fixture strength.

Scratch that if Liverpool qualify it goes tits up as a plan. yeah 33 looks like it could be good. means you can hold 3 Arsenal for burnley away in 32.

Yeah you don't have to, but I just don't see a one off transfer worth making to this squad at the moment. Nothing really more to it than that. You can still do Giroud to one of those DGWers and roll it again next week...or drop one of Alexis or Cazorla as well in front of the Liverpool game and blank after the Burnley one. Probably best to keep just one of your Arsenal assets after the Newcastle game for the near future until their double.

I see. Interesting perspective - I guess I could save and just keep one FT in the backpocket and use it when I need it.

Just that I have a WC too, and want to use FTs as much as I can from now til GW34. Even if it's just Chelsea and Liverpool, would still be a good GW to play it probably.

If anyone, Cazorla. Though it's tough considering he has penois, also considering Toons lackluster and OoP backline they'll roll with this week. He's playing so deep and making plays from half-court though, Mane is playing up top making runs in the box and shooting at will. I'd highly consider it tbh, even though it's always risky taking a pen-taker out.

Then again, those 2 FT's could really do you some good next week to make a more drastic change to your squad. Your backline is great though, and so is your midfield. Now as I'm typing this I realize you have triple Arsnal attack, I think yes one of Sanchez or caz has to go. My money's on Cazorla

        • 12 Years

Yea agree - its always a risk and with Anita supposedly being shifted into central defense...possibility of pens increases!

Exactly - 3 Arsenal is my worry seeing the blank for them and my double Sunderland defenders. Need to start shedding them quick. Cheers Zasa.

If I make a transfer, Mane is the one. Leaning towards Caz out now. Thanks all.

time to revisit this question as it will affect most plans especially for non-WCers.

most would have 1 chelsea def + hazard and not many will want oscar

so costa or another chelsea defender as ur 3rd chelsea player?

Sanchez > Ozil is a luxury transfer, but do it if you have an FT to burn.

    @Ryan

That is definitely an option Ryan, some great food for thought there. Could go Studge to Costa instead, and Coutinho to Eriksen as one week punts maybe.

Though one thing about playing it Gw34 is the advantage one could have by building his team up to Gw33, while others would be taking care of deadwood and preparing for Gw34. it leaves the non-WCers more vulnerable. Not a huge advantage, but it could be worthwhile. Also, Pool, Arsenal and Chelsea all have good fixtures soon after.

I would definitely be triple and doubling on all three tbh, and would be taking out West Brom defense, Eriksen, Silva, and Mane. If I were to WC now, my team would be as template as it can be considering Silva, Erik, and Hazard are as template as it's gets. Pool are good for Gw32 really, Giroud firing, Costa regaining form, template defenses with Baggies, Arsenal, Chelsea, Saints and Leicester/Swansea, idk it just doesn't seem there's much ground to makeup tbh.

That said, I'll probably WC next week 😆

Perhaps, but Costa looked great the other day vs Saints. Hazard and co were feeding him all day in the box, whether with long balls or crosses. The teams was really emphasizing Costa's aerial ability, I think yes, Costa can bag brace with ease on any given day.
