Sergio Aguero’s failings leaves Man City pointless from their Turf Moor trip as Manuel Pellegrini’s title tilt is derailed. It’s Arsenal who are looking more likely to challenge Chelsea, as Olivier Giroud inspires the Gunners to an eighth consecutive home win against West Ham. Villa’s strikers steal the show, however, as Tim Sherwood’s side blitz the Black Cats to prompt an early walkout by the Stadium of Light faithful. Here are all the notes from Saturdays’ events…

Aguero Blanks As City’s Challenge Fades

Manchester City’s hopes of earning back-to-back Premier League crowns were dealt a hammer blow as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor, courtesy of an expertly struck half volley from everyone’s favourite fifth midfielder, George Boyd.

Valued at 4.6 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Boyd took his tally to five goals for the season with Saturday’s sublime strike – an excellent return given his price and circumstances in one of the Premier League’s strugglers.

Fantasy managers will be more concerned by the efforts of Sergio Aguero, however. Heavily backed with the FPL captaincy going into the Gameweek, the Argentine has now blanked in five of his eight starts since his return to fitness.

Aguero is certainly getting opportunities – he registered eight efforts on goal at Turf Moor, six from inside the box – more than any other player in Saturday’s matches. Having said that, City’s current 4-4-2 system doesn’t appear to be suiting the striker or, indeed, City’s attacking ploys. With both Edin Dzeko and Wilfried Bony available as options, however, it would seem likely that Manuel Pellegrini will stand by the formation.

While West Brom and Palace are up next for City and Aguero, patience with the 13.0-priced asset could depend greatly on Diego Costa’s form and Olivier Giroud’s ability to maintain his current run of goals. Costa’s performance against Southampton this afternoon could certainly cause more fidgeting amongst Aguero owners, with Chelsea’s double Gameweek 34 on the horizon.

The Turf Moor teamsheet showed some significant changes with Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho, Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy recalled by Pellegrini. Uncharacteristically, Sean Dyche also made changes, dropping Micheal Keane to the bench and recalling Michael Duff to his defence. Duff has now dipped to just 3.9 in the FPL and helped the Clarets to an unlikely clean sheet; their first since Gameweek 16.

Eagles Widemen Torment R’s

Crystal Palace’s wingers bullied a hapless QPR defence as Alan Pardew’s side eased to a 3-1 win at Selhurst Park. Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha – who lined up either side of the reinstated Glenn Murray in a 4-3-3 set-up – both delivered strong attacking returns, with the former bagging two assists and the latter notching a goal and an assist. James McArthur and Joel Ward were the unlikely scorers for Palace’s second and third goals, all of which arrived in a dominant first-half display from the hosts.

Those 43,000 managers that recruited Jason Puncheon off the back of his hat-trick of assists were left disappointed by his Fantasy output. Puncheon failed to play a part in any of Palace’s goals and was forced off in the second half with a hamstring injury. In addition, Zaha was also substituted with a hip problem – an injury sustained by sliding into the upright as he met Bolasie’s cross for Palace’s opener.

The Eagles have now scored 14 league goals since Alan Pardew’s arrival – just one shy of Man City’s tally over the same spell. They have, however, kept just one clean sheet during Pardew’s reign to this point.

Phillips’ Stunner Keeps Him Ticking

Matt Phillips’ astonishing 40-yard strike not only restored a modicum of pride for Chris Ramsey’s outfit but also marked the fourth time in five matches that the 4.6-priced winger has delivered attacking returns. The Scottish international has tallied four assists and a goal in the last five, presenting a strong case to challenge George Boyd as the optimum fifth FPL midfielder.

Meanwhile, Charlie Austin failed to register once again, notching just three goal attempts throughout the course of the match. He’s suffered more sales than any other FPL asset overnight as his 20% FPL ownership begins to diminish. A blank against Everton in Gameweek 30 will likely signal a burst of sales as QPR’s Gameweek 33 blank looms.

Giroud Masterclass Squashes Hammers

Olivier Giroud was on the scoresheet for the fourth Gameweek in succession as Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 victory over London rivals West Ham. The striker was a pivotal figure throughout, also earning the assist for Aaron Ramsey’s third goal. Giroud has now recorded six goals in his previous eight starts, establishing himself as the current form pick amongst Premier League strikers, having scored in his last four outings.

Arsene Wenger made five changes to the side that turned out against Man United in Monday’s FA Cup win at Old Trafford, with Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Santi Cazorla among those that dropped to the bench as Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Giroud were handed starting berths.

Ramsey announced his full return to the side with a goal and an assist, while Cazorla entered the fray in the 72nd minute, assisting a rare goal from Mathieu Flamini in the latter stages.

While Giroud cements himself as a prime target, our options in the Arsenal midfield are becoming more confused by the week. Ramsey’s return to form is of note, while Alexis Sanchez was hooked on 64 minutes on his way to his third successive blank at the Emirates. The Chilean did, however, register four efforts on goal – all from inside the West Ham area – the most threatening display of any midfielder on show in Saturday’s matches.

The selection of Chambers over Bellerin could have been aimed at nullifying West Ham’s threat at set-plays. Given Arsenal’s crucial Champions League trip to Monaco in midweek, it would seem more likely that Bellerin was simply rested. His owners will perhaps be hoping that the Gunners fail to pull off a great escape in Tuesday’s tie – reducing the risk of further rotation. Certainly Chambers’ performance did little to promote his cause: he was often exposed by the pace of Matt Jarvis and looked short on confidence.

Shot-Shy Foxes On the Brink

After failing to beat 10-man Hull City at the King Power Stadium, Leicester City remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League, three points adrift of QPR.

The 0-0 stalemate certainly suited those who leapt to invest in out-of-position prospect, Jeffrey Schlupp, although Nigel Pearson’s teamsheet didn’t help the Ghanaian’s cause: the Foxes boss elected to drop Paul Konchesky, shifting Schlupp to the left wing-back role in the new 5-2-3 set-up.

Pearson made a point of announcing that he would stick to the defensive setup but obviously feels that, by using Schlupp at left-back and recalling Jamie Vardy in front of him, he is lending the tactic more attacking threat.

The 0-0 outcome suggested that Pearson may have to go back to the drawing board – Schlupp owners will be hoping for their man to be deployed back in a more attacking berth for Leicester’s remaining home fixtures.

Crucially, the Foxes still have six encounters to come at the King Power Stadium over their remaining ten ties, although they have now notched just three goals in their last nine matches on home turf.

Villa Dismantle Sorry Black Cats

Having failed to score away from home for ten hours and with just four goals in 14 trips all season, Villa unexpectedly routed Sunderland in their own backyard with an incredible first-half goal blitz.

Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor were the executioners with a brace apiece, while the rejuvenated Charles N’Zogbia and Leandro Bacuna provided the pace and creativity to feed them.

Benteke recovered from a hip injury that had sidelined him for the Villains’ FA Cup win over West Brom to net in consecutive matches for the first time this season. Agbonlahor is also on fire: he’s now scored three goals in his last two outings and his partnership with Benteke looks to be bristling with threat.

With Scott Sinclair, N’Zogbia and full-back Bacuna buzzing around the front two, Villa suddenly appear to have the weaponry to hurt opponents. Tim Sherwood’s tactics also appear to be promoting their attacking instincts.

Bacuna’s performance from right-back will hand Sherwood a selection headache for the Gameweek 30 visit of Swansea: Alan Hutton’s return to the teamsheet following a two-match suspension looks far from assured.

It should be noted that the encounter with the Swans begins a run of fixtures for Villa (SWA, mun, tot, mci, EVE, WHU, sou) that’s dominated by ties with teams in the upper echelons of the table, a factor which might just dampen enthusiasm in their assets.

Sunderland’s plight is starting to look desperate. They’ve scored just one goal in their last five league outings with Jermain Defoe’s ownership withering by the week. At the back, Patrick van Aanholt reclaimed a starting berth but gave his 3.5% ownership little to cheer. The Black Cats have kept just one clean sheet in six, as confidence in Van Aanholt and keeper Costel Pantilimon declines at pace.

Baggies’ Unmoved By Stoke Threat

Keeping pace with strike partner Saido Berahino – Brown Ideye scored the only goal of the game in the Baggies’ 1-0 win over Stoke City. The Nigerian hitman had drawn blanks in his previous three starts but rediscovered his scoring touch at The Hawthorns, heading West Brom into an early lead against Mark Hughes’ outfit.

In light of the Potters failure to reply, West Brom have now recorded six cleans sheets in their last nine fixtures, encouraging further investment in the likes of Ben Foster, Craig Dawson and Joleon Lescott.

There will be concerns about Foster’s availability, however, with the stopper set to undergo scans on a knee injury which forced him off on 55 minutes against the Potters, robbing his owners of the shut-out. This requires careful monitoring, with Boaz Myhill, priced at just 4.0 in the FPL, providing the obvious replacement for both Tony Pulis and Foster owners alike. With a trip to the Etihad up next, there appears to be time to assess the situation. Following that, however, Pulis’s side have QPR and Leicester at the Hawthorns having recorded six clean sheets in their last seven home matches in all competitions.

There were also notable injuries in the Potters’ ranks as Erik Pieters, Victor Moses and Jonathan Walters were forced off. We’ll sum up their current situations in tomorrow’s Treatment Table.

We have the same front 8, and 4/5 common defenders. 😯

I'd get rid of Wollscheid/PVA myself, and get someone like Ivanovic if you want a DGW defender now. For that, you must have to downgrade Sanchez/Silva - not an option if you want to play safe. (This are the moves I am planning for MY team).

What do you think should be our XI against Monaco?
Ramsey did very well, and Walcott didn't. Welbeck might earn a recall, but I don't see anybody dropping out. Chambers or Gibbs should not start, must start Mertesacker even though he was shite in the last game.

    ----------------------Ospina
    --Bellerin---Koscielny--Mertesacker-----Monreal
    ---------Coquelin-----------------Ramsey
    --Sanchez-----------Ozil---------------------Cazorla
    ----------------------Giroud

You could make a case for him ahead of Giroud because of first leg.
But then, when you need to score 3 in a game, can't really put someone as wasteful as Welbeck in the team.

Good point. I'm not an Arsenal fan so you'll be more clued up on selections but I think he'll play both. Welbeck instead of Ramsey and Cazorla defensive Mid in you above selections

Ramsey surely adds more poise in defensive midfield, and he finally had a very good performance after some time. Don't see him getting dropped by any chance.

If Welbeck must play, it might again be at Cazorla's expense, I'm afraid.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Is it time to ditch FPL's mega beasts?

With Aguero blanking again - and what's more in a plum tie against Burnley - and Sanchez once again being over shadowed by his team mates, is it time to cash in our Sanchez and Aguero cash and upgrade elsewhere.

Sanchez is in no way performing as an £11m plus striker and Aguero is looking poor value.

Who is dumping one of them? If so which one? Who would replace them and how best could you use the money?

You drop them, and they score two in the next game (they surely have the capability/stats), that is like a 10k drop.

Atleast giving them the next good fixture.

*** Silva is someone who I'm looking to downgrade to a 6-6.5 midfielder, though.

Silva is one of those players you have to either have in for the duration or swap out and never get in -hokey cokeying with Silva, as I've learnt over the seasons can lead to some serious point dodging.

For me Sanchez out for Ozil, or a cheaper mid like Sigurdsson, frees up the cash I need to draft in Ivanovic or Giroud. That looks like a no brainer currently.

Long term Sturridge is looking a good prospect in for Aguero.

This is one of those moments were risks could really pay off.

There aren't any alternatives that I'm confident can deliver the consistency of Aguero.

Sanchez I'm not really considering though. He had a purple patch like Di Maria but has never been essential.

        "... the consistency of Aguero..."

1, 1, 5, 5, 11, 9, 5, 2, 2 since returning from injury. 41 points in 9 games. Around 4.5 points per game. Is that the kind of consistency you want from a £13m striker?

Top 1000 make a lot of bad decisions. 87% captained Aguero yesterday. 😉

Of course Austin and Puncheon don't score as well as Aguero. And of course it always depends what you'd spend the extra cash on. And while we are at it I also understand that for your 2-3 captain options the value calculation is different.

I reacted to what you said, not your ranking. My point is that "value" is the baseline of FPL. You then use the surplus budget to give yourself good captain options that you think can be explosive. That's how the game works as far as I can see.

Are you in the top thousand? If not, the majority of their decisions must have been better or luckier than your own. Why don't you link your team?

Captaining Aguero wasn't a bad decision - it was just one that turned out badly. If you captained Rooney today then it worked out well for you on this occasion, but would you have considered your decision to have been a bad one if Aguero had outscored Rooney?

Decisions also depend on who was already in your squad. Rooney has only moved up front for the last 3 matches, and would have been a poor choice before that. Most FPL players had more important transfers to make than to replace Aguero with Rooney.

No, I am not in the top 1000. This is my first FPL season and I started as a complete casual with little idea how the game worked, Took me around 10-12 weeks to get the basic hang of it and sort my mess of a squad out but I have been doing OK since then.

Certainly the decisions of the top 1000 were better - far better - than mine over the first 14 weeks. Since then I have scored 937 points compared to a top 1000 average of 837.

I don't link my team because I don't want to.

The comment about 87% captaining Aguero was tongue in cheek, didn't you see the emoticon? But the fact remains that the top 1000 make plenty of poor decisions. Many of them are more concerned with holding position (fear of making mistakes) than with trying to win. You may or may not agree but that's my firm view.

Captaining Aguero wasn't a dubious decision because he only scored 2 points. It was a dubious decision because he appears to perform better when City play 4-2-3-1 with him at the point rather than the 4-2-2-2 they are playing at present. Especially with Bony in the team (although he didn't start in the end this weekend).

Anything else you want to know?

Well, I appreciate that challenging the consensus view is unpopular. It was always thus. "Arrogant" is just your word for someone that does not follow the party line.

I don't claim to have mastered the game. I am still learning about it. But not by copying the consensus. I aim to be better than that.

Is that 937 points in the 14 game-weeks up to the end of GW28, or does it also include the current game-week so far?

Simon March (current world number one) only scored 914 in those 14 game-weeks, or 935 if you include the current game-week and his auto-sub, and has risen from 29th to 1st during that period.

It is difficult to believe that you are actually outscoring the world number one in your first season if you cannot prove it by linking your team. It is not unknown for people to make claims here that they cannot substantiate, but if your claim is true then congratulations on being such a quick learner.

We all make mistakes though. I make mistakes, the players in the top thousand make mistakes, and I am sure that even you must make a few too.

Some of top thousand (including the most successful ones) are original thinkers, but I agree that many of them probably do have a tendency to be afraid of being different - it's the easy option to remain among the leaders - but the ones at the very top should try to get ahead of the template by backing their own judgement, and by knowing when to copy the herd and when not to.

I wouldn't say that captaining Aguero was necessarily a bad decision, but there were some good alternatives, many of which turned out to be equally unsuccessful. My own season only started improving (though not as dramatically as yours - I only scored 823 points in the second 14 game-weeks) when I realised around GW15 that Diego Costa was not essential after all, something which the majority of the top thousand failed to realise, and I have not owned him since then.

You have some interesting ideas, but I'm afraid that you do come across as being a bit arrogant sometimes - a little more humility would be welcome. Some of the posters here have been very successful in FPL, but the more popular ones tend not to boast about their superior brain-power.

I'm not boasting about anything. All this came out of a discussion about value where Forza took exception to me disagreeing with him as he is a top 1000 player.

Humility and false modesty are two different things.

As for mistakes - I made one last week by not captaining a DGW player. It was the first DGW I have experienced and I won't make that mistake again. That cost me 13 points I needn't have given away. 😉

About my team you can make your own mind up.

                        As a side point:

I'm always amazed that people who have played FPL for years, seem to think it's a complicated game that would take a long time to master.

The strategy elements really aren't that complicated such that someone of reasonable intelligence learn them very quickly, especially as part of a supportive community site.

In terms of understanding and learning about football that's probably more difficult, but is something most people that take up FPL seriously at some point have spent years doing anyway.

'The task is to get maximum points per £1m.'

Incorrect. The "task" is to get maximum points over the long term with an (almost always) ballooning budget of $100m+ and the knowledge of having on 1FT.

If the task were to get maximum points per $1m, you wouldn't spend all your budget nor would you match the points of other teams where overall team points are a priority.

But I suppose a member would know that, huh Ruth?

I did Aguero -> Sturridge before this GW deadline, mainly cause i'm chasing and need to find differentials to the template. Was a bit scared before the game yesterday, but so far so good 😉

Also had Giroud (C) so it's a huge move up the rankings for me...

Not sure about Sanchez yet... could Ramsey be the one to replace him? I guess we'll all be watching the game with Monaco closely.

I'd like a front three of Aguero, Sturridge, Costa, Giroud and Kane but I think I'll probably settle for Studge, Giroud and Kane.

I really like Sturridge so I'm hoping he starts to play 90 minute games and finds some form.

Dropped Sanchez for Silva some weeks ago which worked like a charm. The problem with Aguero is that there is no in-form replacement.

If Sturridge/ Costa fire in this match, then maybe I will think. Otherwise will give him at least one more match and then look at Benteke

If I needed funds elsewhere I would ditch both Sanchez and Aguero but I have a team value of 108 and also have Ivanovic. I don't know where I would invest the money.

Of course I could leave money in the bank but who do I replace them with that are on form? Ozil for Sanchez is tempting but apart from Kane and Giroud no other strikers are on form.

Also I consider Sanchez and Aguero to be the best players in the league so surely they will find form sooner rather than later.

It's not like we have Di Maria, Mata, Rooney, Van Persie, Falcao, Sturridge, Yaya and Balotelli to choose from is it?

Oh do come on. I wrote about what would happen with Sanchez 2 months ago. Since then he has 1 goal in 6 PL games. It's not a matter of memory, long or short. It's a matter of recognising that the situation which made him an outstanding FPL option from October to December has changed.

The situation may be similar with Aguero because 4-2-2-2 appears to be killing him. It's too soon to be sure in his case which is why he's still in my team but not captain.

If you want to go on memory, why not bring Walcott in? I understand he used to be a great FPL player too.

Put simply, a few weeks of scoring okay, rather than explosively is not a reason to panic. Sánchez and Agüero over the season have proven to be two of the most heavy points scoring players, and neither are playing badly at the moment.

If you think Sánchez is rubbish unless playing #10, and Agüero can't play as part of a striker partnership, take them out if you like but it could be pretty painful and is not something I'd advise.

Sanchez went out of my team in GW 23 when he got injured. He may come back in GW34 on my wildcard but not before.

What I will do with Aguero remains to be seen. But quite possibly he goes out in GW 34 and stays out. I may even remove him this week, it all depends on how Rooney plays today. One of those two will be leaving my team for Costa.

Nope. Rooney out for Costa will be my transfer.

I am only concerned with the next 4 GWs and City have far better fixtures in that period. It would have taken an exceptional performance from Rooney today to persuade me to keep him and dump Aguero.

There's also the possibility that Pellegrini may see sense and play 4-2-3-1 with Aguero at the point and Silva behind him. But I'm not holding my breath. I think by buying Bony he has hitched his wagon to the 4-2-2-2 system.

Pellegrini will likely stick to two strikers because he loves that system far too much, but that won't and hasn't hampered Agüero.

It did when Bony started last week. They haven't learned how to play together yet.

I also remember the end of last season when City were playing 4-2-2-2 with Dzeko and Aguero. In the last 8 games (after Aguero returned from injury) Dzeko scored 6 goals to Aguero's 2.

It's semi-anecdotal because I don't have other stats, only my impression at the time and the numbers of goals scored. But put all that together and it's enough to put a question mark over Aguero for me. He'll stay in my team till GW 34 but I'm unlikely to captain him.

Sanchez, yes (although its already far too late)

Aguero, maybe. Ideally there needs to be another striker who is essential. Kane and Giroud are already essential in my book, but who is the other one? If Costa hits form against Southampton It could well be him. Rooney up front is also an interesting prospect, we also shouldn't forget about Sturridge.

The season's harshest lesson has been not to get on immediate post-injury return bandwagons.

But will that hold for next season? For the long-time veterans, how valid have your learnings from one season been for the next?

Well this season has been shocking for me. Just based on the fact that captaincy has let me down far too often compared to previous years. 🙁

I think one of the reasons for this has been injuries disrupting Aguero and Sanchez when they were at their prime.

And no one else has been consistent like last season when my ML rival had Gerrard Suarez and Sturridge and we had agreed not to have the same players. 😆

You can just as easily get caught out by players with repetitive injury problems returning as soon as they get back in the starting 11 - this happened with both Sturridge and Aguero before

      1st season, lessons learned:
      #1- TV doesnt matter
#2- Make your own decision, feels better
#3- Pick the right bandwagons, not all
#4- Wait for around 2-3 weeks before getting a player who has just returned from injury
#5- "There is nothing more risky than not taking any risks." -Pep Guardiola 😀

There is one. When people opted for Ulloa, I opted for Pelle who was scoring less but TV helped me see the way he was playing is more effective and likelier to get points.

I think you are right with the post injury returns.

I also think this season has been defined by budget striking options - with players valued initially at the £5-6m mark out performing their price and being genuine captaincy options. Kane is the obvious here, but so too Ings and Austin for periods. For me the harsh lesson of this year has been to avoid the price tag and focus on the player.

      1. Ziro Becomes One
        • 10 Years

True. Budget forwards have been the theme of the season. Ings and Kane throughout with Sakho for some time.
Plus Sigsson. Barring Ings had most of them at their prime. Including that Kane haul against Chelsea, will never forget that one.

Not getting anyone post injury is good advice any season

I would add look at the bigger picture. Lots who took Giroud out for Austin for the DGW are not back pedalling hard.

Hits generally dont pay off, but if they set you up for the long haul it may be worth it.

Expensive doesnt necessarily mean better. Just cos you can afford the higher priced player, doesnt mean you should get them.

And lastly, play your own game and be confident in your decisions

    8. TuttiFrutti

I've learnt that you shouls always go with a "power" 8, meaning you have one player that is very cheap, nailed to the bench, and hopefully nailed in the first eleven IRL, too.

I agree with you on the injuries, but still think Aguero's an exception, even though hes form has dropped.

Dont swap players meant only for a short period, i.e costa out in favor of jovetic.

Most important lesson for me is the last one. Which also could be applied on Giroud>Austin, and taking out in-form players, for a player with good fixtures, thinking you will get him back, in a few gameweeks.

      Like who?

I always wait 2 or 3 games after a player returns from injury and I'm never going to change.

The main message this season is that 3 WBA defenders have been a necessity.

Defensive rotations never work out. My Ferdinand/Clyne rotation at the start of the season was a bit one-sided...

An in-form player can score against any team. Kane's 18 points vs Chelsea was a painful lesson!

    A. Giroud (swallow my pride and use 2 FTs to get him in, one involving a 2m downgrade)

Wisdom and Cazorla for Bertrand and Mane worth a hit? Would bench Bellerin for Bertrand.

How about Wisdom and Cazorla for Bertrand and Matty Phillips for a hit to set up Ozil to hazard for free the next week? One of Boyd/Bellerin/Phillips would have to start.

If I do the first, I'll have to take another hit to do Ozil and Erikson to Hazard and downing to get hazard in...

As heavy hitters like Aguero and Sanchez blank again in yet another plum fixture, I think it is time to stop being stubborn about a couple of facts this season and just learn the lesson already.

    1) Aguero and Sanchez are not the same players they were 10-15 weeks ago both in reality and thus in fpl. Aguero after returning from injury is not pre-injury aguero. With pre-injury aguero, everything he touched turned gold. Headers, tap ins, outrageous shots from outside the box, volleys, you name it. He is not the same after the injury and such a level cannot be maintained anyway (unless you are cr7 or messi).
With Sanchez, he is not the main man anymore. He is off most set-pieces and shares the creative role with Ozil,Cazorla,Giroud mainly plus some others. He is not the focal point of the team. And I can't see Wenger making him the focal point again given the team's form and balance and how shite they were without Ozil and Giroud in the side. Add to that, he is fatigued. Whether he admits it or not. First season in epl, after a long WC, this is normal.
What we are all doing is fearing missing another big haul from either one which is now less probable than a Silva or Giroud big haul.

    2) Price is not what determines a heavy hitter. Kane and Giroud are heavy hitters. Actually they are THE heavy hitters of the season. They are all better captain picks than Kun and Sanchez over the last 10 weeks or so. Look at Giroud's points average per a 60 min appearance. I am sure it wouldn't be less (if not more) than the best Kun and Sanchez offered earlier in the season. Kane is the new Suarez. He has been that good.

We need to consider captaining Kane and Giroud more often. Some were hesitant to give Kane the armband with a DGW because kun had a plum fixture when in fact if kane has just 1 plum fixture not 2, he would be a better pick than kun.

Kane away to Utd will win and you will see. But I am not suggesting that. Kun home to WBA or Kane home to Leceister. Kane away to Burnley or Kun away to Palace. These are the next 2 GWs. I am quite sure most will go with Kun on both occasions.

          Okay, fair enough.

I'm on Hazard (C) and Kane (VC) atm. 😉

True. As much as I hated not going with Aguero (C), I was always confident with Kane.

      1. A little reactive and premature imo. Aguero the player hasn't necessarily changed - the team he plays for is not playing well.
Sanchez has clearly been affected by the return of several other players esp Ozil.

      2. Kane has clear grounds now for captaincy. Gru is playing but a return to kakdom is never too far away with him.

His form suggests otherwise. He is the focal point of Arsenal's attack now.

Most of us are just fearing missout out on another Kun brace or hattrick when in fact Kane is more than able to get a brace or hattrick himself. He has been doing so and more frequently than Kun. Kun has 4 10+ hauls all season to Kane's 6. Since coming back from injury, Kun has 1 to Kane's 4.

The Alexis Sanchez of the first 20 games was the Sanchez of Udinese and the new one is of Barcelona.
Talking of Aguero,Man City won the title in 2011-12 and the next season lost thet title by 11 pts, winning only 8 of their last 15 matches, and scoring only 21 goals in that period. This could be a similar situation.
The ones who are in and around the top 1k will never get rid of them but those who want to climb up the ladder have every reason to do so.

The Sanchez situation is clear, during the first half of the season all burden was on him and he was delivering(because of injuries to others),now the situation has changed, everyone's contributing. One day it will be Sanchez with a haul, the next day it could be Cazorla, then Ozil and so on..
And as they are getting results,Wenger will stick to this.

2 of Boyd/Phillips/Mahrez/Bolasie should do the trick for you 🙂

I doubt that'd be worth it Imo jaf. Costa needs to up his game a bit before I bring him in

Might next week due to fixtures but otherwise no. He scores a goal every 9 games or so and really isn't consistent enough to be considered a starter.

His main job is to keep the budget down to allow you to afford Kun et al.

Just get 3 WBA defenders in and be done with it.
