We delve into the Gameweek 30 data this evening in our first members article of the international break. Our attentions turn to Villa and QPR’s in-form assets ahead of the double, whilst we also analyse City, United and Liverpool midfielders and take a look at Swansea and Palace’s lone frontmen.

Mmmm...I hope he goes for his sake and United's, somehow he's never seemed a fit in the United set up to me...http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-manager-van-gaal-8913913

Di Maria is not worth 60M. At Madrid he got time to pick out his world class passes but in the premier league you don't get that time. Also, he lacks the defensive determination LvG wants from his players.

Just as importantly he has never seemed happy..even less so since the attempted break in. It's time for both parties to do an early rethink.

As a Liverpool fan I would hate if Utd got Bale but a return of Di Maria to Madrid with Bale coming the other way would be good for the players. Not sure Madrid would be keen to do this business though.

Aye, it's all going a bit wrong for Bale as well. ADM doesn't even speak the language, or at least didn't when he got here...that on it's own would be a good enough reason to leave if I was ADM...

Worth sacrificing Sanchez to bring in Ivanovic? If so, for another Arsenal MID or Mata/Sterling/Coutinho/other?

He's worth removing anyway - Liverpool, Burnley, blank and he's not value any more in any case.

Probably not for another Arsenal or Liverpool player in view of GW33 blanks.

Sigurdsson or Downing could be worthwhile options.

    My provisional moves.

    This GW: Forster>K. Davis

    Next GW: Sanchez>Coutinho
    Austin>Costa

works nicely with the fixtures unless Liverpool have a blank. Otherwise I'll take another hit (-8) by downgrading a defender such as Fonte and upgrading Coutinho to a premium midfielder.

International breaks are terrible. They are boring and many players try to avoid in playing them and exaggerating injuries. Competitive international matches should all take place at the end of the season the year before the tournament is due to take place as if it is a mini tournament. Leagues can then finish a few weeks early in order to accommodate this and it will allow players some valuable experience in a tournament like experience prior to a World Cup or European Championships. This would also have the affect of reducing the impact of injuries on their league performance and encouraging more of the top players to turn up.

    1. Lallana_
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 10 months ago

Great minds think alike. It would make the group stages for qualification more intense and the premier league more intense. This break interrupts the drama and hype. It's also unfair how some players get a mid-season break and others don't. That's probably why many feign injuries.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

You could have several friendlies in advance of them and it would give teams a great chance to gel

    2. Bielsa's Blue Bucket
      • 14 Years
      10 years, 10 months ago

So then if a relatively small nation, Ireland for example, have 2 or 3 key players injured for the qualifiers their chances of qualification become lessened. Also players would be going straight from domestic season -- qualifiers -- tournament -- domestic season.

      1. Cheeseoid
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 13 Years

I was thinking you would have the qualification the summer before the tournament rather than the same summer as the tournament. Rather than overwhelming them by ait all being at the same time. It is a fair point that it could impact injury hit nations more.

I like the idea. It means the regular club season will finish several weeks earlier so you can use that time for internationals. Obviously all competitions including champions league will need to be on board

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 13 Years

Exactly. You will probably get away with less matches in total as you will need less friendlies for warm up games as you will only need to warm up once.

What do you guys think about the MLS price system and the fact you get 2FTs a week? I like that idea because it makes the game more fun and gives you a chance all the time.

With FPL it's essentially getting the template right as soon as possible. Once you got that you'll have a high TV and you don't have to make many changes.

I'd love to see the Alan Partridge character present Top Gear. My favourite line from him is:

Listeners, I have someone on the line who fears he may be a gay. He's married so I shall only be using his Christian name. I'm talking to Domingo in Little Oakley.

Don't want these 11 minute appearances happening often.

I did. But when I transferred him in he either played 90 minutes or nothing. He also had a nice run of games in the team.

Maybe Mourinho will bring him back considering that woeful performance defensively last time out.

Fair enough. He seemed to play most home games, but I guess Mourinho is sticking with Cahill more often now that Chelsea are out of the CL.

Going with Zouma, Costa and Hazard for the DGW. Was thinking Zouma>Terry but it's less important now.

I wouldn't want Zouma for Chelsea's DGW. Takes up a valuable Chelsea spot from someone who may not even play 2 full games.

                  Arsenal (A)
                  Leicester (A)

don't have two cleansheets in them IMO

Only other I can think of getting is Ivanovic for his attacking threat.

Teams need to anounce their line-ups by a deadline on Friday night, so team captains need to know your team to pick their 11 from the squad.
It's not official, so you can say your 99%sure but it depends on how your captain calls it.
It's a bit of fun but keep the focus on your own season and that top 500 spot.

The rules are linked in the cricket thread in the community articles. It's just a team FPL game where each week two squads of 15 play head to head. Scores add up the scores of players in each team and highest scoring team wins that tie. Glynn and/or Austin will get onto this when they're up tomorrow.

We have a little girl. I don't know how we would have managed if I had been away like that. Extended family would be a must.

Best defence in the league. More than capable of a cleanie. And Clynes got attacking threat to boot

I'd pick Clyne and roll the dice with Yun.

      Evening, TM.

Indeed. One great goal followed by a show stopper.

I must admit I was very down on him. But then I never expected us to be able to play this sort of free flowing football. He was getting bossed all over the pitch in amongst the trees centrally in the 352.

Rooney up front allows so much to happen, too.
