The Community Round Up

With Aaron Ramsey and Wayne Rooney sidelined through injury and suspension last weekend, the community was on the hunt for heavy hitters in attack and midfield. Luckily our community articles, hot topics and members’ tables were packed full of detailed analysis on their replacement options.

The Community Articles

Arvin-ation nailed this week’s top discussion this week; what to do with Ramsey and Rooney, now that both players are set for spells on the sidelines. Here’s his list of the likely replacements owners should be considering. He was back again at the end of the week with another excellent trio of attacking punts ahead of the forthcoming Gameweek.

I decided to turn my hand to community writing and have a look at Fantasy Premier League bonus points among defenders, to discover which players were benefitting this season. Applebonkers, Doosra and Ludo are among those to add some excellent research to the ensuing discussion.

Among our regular scribes, Sticky Mockwell was back with a look at the latest bandwagons and how well they performed in light of heavy previous investment. So far his hypotheses that patience is a virtue remains true.

The start of a new month means we take a look back at the previous few weeks’ articles to find the community’s favourite piece. The overwhelming victor in September’s poll was The Puntmaster with his weekly trio of differentials. So far two out of three of his picks have brought points each week. We strongly urge you to read his recommendations for Gameweek 7.

Another regular writer to do well in the poll was The Sarjeant. He was back again this week with his regular Form Guide ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

Hottest Topics

The Rooney and Ramsey injuries also dominated community discussion this week as we looked over the likely replacements. Why is Pardew for Kinnear started the discussion off with this look at the best exit strategy for the pair.

For Ramsey owners, Southampton’s midfield assets have caught the eye for many community members such as The Sarjeant, who started this discussion on the credentials of Dusan Tadic and Sadio Mane to replace the Arsenal man. Ludo, meanwhile, had been looking closer to home for a Ramsey replacement and recommended his team mate Jack Wilshire.

Gylfi Sigurdsson’s poor recent form also came under the spotlight, with some community members considering ditching the Swansea midfielder. However, Triggerlips has been looking into his underlying statistics though and urges patience.

Another tough decision the community faced this week was which champion should represent them in this week’s Scout Picks. With the community champions trailing in fourth behind Paul, Mark and myself, you decided to opt for Greenwindmill’s idea to base his picks on our Rate My Team computer’s decisions. Can a machine prosper where mere mortals have failed?

There was less optimism about the technology behind UEFA’s official Champion League Fantasy game, after further technical glitches left managers frustrated this week. Our man Anorak has been in touch with the game’s developers and called on the community to give their views on where it has gone wrong. He’ll be passing on all your comments to them in a bid to help them improve their game.

Finally, Costra Nostra has been taking a look at one of the golden rules of Fantasy management of never taking a hit for a defender. He urged Fantasy managers to instead think beyond that initial Gameweek and look to the long term when assessing whether the initial four-point hit will subsequently pay off.

The Members Tables

Those eyeing up Southampton’s Tadic as a Ramsey replacement will be pleased to see the midfielder featuring prominently in my top crossers table.

For those looking for Wayne Rooney replacements Erlando’s minutes per chance on goal table is a must read. This has a minimum criteria of 10 shots in the box to ensure only the most potent attackers are featured.

Meanwhile, Gigging Order has been taking an in depth look at the Chelsea midfield to assess the best option from its midfield in terms of goal attempts.

Following my community article on FPL bonus points among defenders, Doosra has updated his Bonus Burglars table to pinpoint defenders who perform well in the key Bonus Point System (BPS) areas of clearances, blocks and interceptions (CBI), tackles and passing.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

The Tinkerman has shot to the top of the Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league in FPL, closely followed by Paul, who tops the moderators and contributors league in the Ultimate Fantasy Premier League game.

The Puffinboy Memorial Cup league, dedicated to one of our first posters, continues to be led by Rasping Drive, who with an overall rank of 636th also has number one status in the FFS Old Farts Club and FFS Dead Zone leagues.

AZ’s Early Bird Cup reaches the final this weekend when DT42, who defeated AZ in last week’s semi-final, will take on Dusan Citizen, who dispatched Costa- The Chosen One.

Finally, India and New Zealand are the teams to beat in the FFS UEFA Hockey World Cup team competition. They are the current group leaders going into this weekend’s matches.

    Play Lamela, Naismith or Moore/Clyne

Considering I have Forster in goals which affects Clyne/Lamela decision

Lukaku looks like the best option out of the Everton lot...McGeady is definitely one to watch as well.

Don't fancy investing 7m into Baines, with no clean sheets. Not worth it with better options at much lower prices. Lukaku can only get better with more performances down the middle as well. It'll be one of Lukaku/McGeady for me, or both. Sanchez can cover Welbeck.

    Captain help!

Sterling - Easy fixture, on form BUT West Brom looking better, was **** in midweek, might be rested
Balotelli - Same for fixture, must score soon, potential big haul BUT terrible form, could be dropped
Di Maria - Everton are unpredictable, involved in lots, on form BUT poor last week, everton could be good, no rooney for support
Costa - On form, scoring every game BUT played midweek and could be rested (or subbed off), tough fixture
