The Weekend Team News

Arsene Wenger rules out Mathieu Debuchy for three months. Kieran Trippier is expected to shake off a hamstring problem for Burnley. Erik Pieters remains a doubt for Stoke, James McArthur has been passed fit for Palace, whilst Raheem Sterling is set to return for Liverpool this weekend.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy will be sidelined for up to three months after undergoing surgery on his dislocated shoulder. Mikel Arteta will also be out of action for three months, having successfully undergone ankle surgery. Elsewhere, Wenger has ruled out Danny Welbeck for the Etihad clash, while Kieran Gibbs will be monitored after returning to training later today.

Kieran Tripper was withdrawn with a tight hamstring in Wednesday evening’s cup tie against Spurs Sean Dyche alleviated any concerns by suggesting that the defender should be fit for the weekend. The Clarets are hopeful on club captain Jason Shackell, who missed the cup defeat to Spurs with a calf complaint.

Nigel Pearson could again be without Esteban Cambiasso for the visit of Stoke, with the midfielder yet to fully train following injury. Danny Drinkwater is in contention for the weekend, while Pearson has suggested that fellow midfielder Dean Hammond is a “unlikely to be available” for the Potters clash. The Foxes boss is also hopeful that the paperwork will be completed in time to allow new signing Andrej Kramaric to figure at the weekend.

Gaston Ramirez and Sone Aluko are both set to train today ahead of Hull’s trip to Upton Park. Steve Bruce is set for a reshuffle up front, though, with Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez both ruled out for up to six weeks.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Raheem Sterling is available for selection once again, following the youngster’s short mid-season break. Rodgers has also gone on to reveal that Adam Lallana is ahead of schedule on his comeback from a thigh problem and will be monitored along with Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson. Daniel Sturridge though, remains sidelined for the Aston Villa trip.

Mark Hughes is optimistic that Steven Nzonzi will be fit to face Leicester, though the Potters boss is sweating on the fitness of Erik Pieters, after the pair were withdrawn at the break in the loss to Arsenal. Furthermore, Victor Moses returned to the squad against the Gunners after recovering from injury, and Hughes has suggested that the winger now “looks sharp and is ready to go.”

Joe Cole could be set to miss the meeting with ex-club Liverpool at the weekend, after picking up a hamstring injury at Leicester. In more positive news, Nathan Baker is expected to return to the squad after injury, with Villa also welcoming back Fabian Delph from suspension.

Ahead of Palace’s trip to Burnley, Alan Pardew has revealed that James McArthur has recovered from the foot problem that forced him off in the win over Spurs last week.

Winston Reid and Guy Demel have both returned to light training and “have a chance” of making Sunday’s home clash with Hull, according to Sam Allardyce earlier this morning.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Sorry this is the third time i'm asking this, but no one ever seems to reply to my post.

Pleasee any help with this decision would be appreciated
Not too sure about southampton defence now that a lot of their defensive key players are out. (Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Alderweireld)

    1)Panti, Heaton, Sterling, Clyne
    or
    2)Panti, Hamer, ADM, Trippier/Jones

        yeah it is.
        So far I'm on

        Panti, Heaton
        Terry, Clyne, Wisdom (PVA, Baird)
        Sanchez, Hazard, Sterling, Chadli (Albrighton)
        Aguero, Costa, Kane

        0 itb

And yes I am very open to other combinations. Main thing is I want ADM, but I also want a southampton defender. Can't seem to afford both though

I'd dump Costa but that's just me,

Costa --> Ings then you can
          get ADM for Sterling
          get a better keeper combo
          upgrade your 5th mid

Costa is restricting your team a lot

    Good day,

My friends, This is not a question post, merely speaking out loud if anyone wishes to read.

Kane: he's on form and the popular choice captain for next round. However, sunderland have shown to produce clean sheets on the road and if kane blanks (you're dropping with the 40% others who have captained him. You can benefit greatly or captain in playing it safe.

Aguero: a brief 20 minute or so cameo against everton, still in the process of getting into his stride but he's shown before that he doesnt have to be fit to get those goals. On the downside; captaining someone who's just returned from injury always has a risk of a surprise incident. Also with the absence of Yaya he has not grown accustomed with the team dynamics established in games without Yaya. (Again, these are not facts - it might not be a factor at all).

Hazard/costa: swansea away is not straightforward and if you want to play safe you can be assured that these are the games mourinho ensures he does not lose. If chelsea are to get anythung out of this game, chances are one of these gentlemen will get points.

    ------------------

My choice: David silva - why?

With the return of aguero and fernando/fernandinho acting as interrupter shields in the middle. You can bet your savings that its aguero/silva/nasri in the mix up front. Arguably, silva was the best player against arsenal last season in the etihad and it it wasnt for the luck of the draw his fantasy points would have been much more explosive. Some would call this a 'punt' - im considering it good sense considering arsenals tendencys on the road to be open. This is the man who can orchestrate and add 'free kick' duty into the mix you got somethimg different that 'makes sense'.

Spurs have scored 9 goals in last two games at home
5 against a better defence than sunderland
Sunderland lost 8 to a team with similar qualities to Spurs, but Spurs also have much better forward

Sunderland will not play an open game like chelsea. If the coach has any sense he's watching the tottenham-chelsea replays right now. Hahah

Chelsea only opened up once they went behind
Kane scoring run will come to an end at some point and could easily be tomorrow but to land a big silva captain score you need to give it to him for several weeks in a row normally

I cant wait to see what happens, you make very valid pts. Also forgot to mention that i dont have aguero and this move in captaining silva could cushion any possible brilliance from aguero (an assist etc). The last point is a personal incentive in regards to the make of my current team

    2. Mull

Look at the points he gets when they have a striker and when they don't. Then move the captain to Hazard.

Silva always plays well though, that's nothing new. He can be amazing and get nothing, which he often does. In other games he can be poor and get 9+. Far from makiong sense to me, plus Arsenal will surely try and stop him as much as they can if he's perceived to be their main orchestrator. Aguero has pens and other teams are facing more obliging opponents

    Panti Hamer
    Terry Wisdom Baird PVA ?
    ADM Hazard Sanchez JWP ?
    Kun Costa Kane

    a) Wasil & Chadli (weak defence apart from Terry)
    b) Clyne & Boyd (gives me a good defence but means playing one of JWP or Boyd most weeks - although they actually rotate very well. I do have a second WC so can rectify JWP if he's dropped after AFCON)

    NO Sanchez. RMWCT.

    Pantilimon / Krul
    Terry // Bertrand // Cameron // Baird // Wasilewski
    Hazard // Fabregas // AdM // Sterling // Tadic
    Aguero // Kane // Berahino

AdM + Sterling will shift to Silva + Cazorla (or, Ramsey) when their fixtures ease.

I never had Sanchez in my team, and I was gaining ranking till I reached just outside 10k

I got Sanchez only for 1 match, and he had that 19point haul and I slipped 500 positions. That taught me one thing - right combination of players is more important than a single player.

@ kol and other experienced players. I read and re-read your excellent post about the implications of blank and double gw due to possible Cup fixtures, but am still not sure of the proper action for a rookie like me on WC.

Assuming spurs and Chelsea advance to a semi final in gw27, is it prudent to limit having too many spurs, Chelsea (and other players scheduled to face these teams) in that gw27? My current WC configuration has 3 Chelsea, 2 spurs, plus Austin and Wasi, and I am now feeling it would be wise to re shuffle.

    Thank you for any guidance.

      ADM if he's up front.
      Kane otherwise.

Is what I'm doing (based on the leader of my league (C) Kane.

    NEW 3.50
    WBA 4.20

    Clean sheet odds.

    Still...who to play?

    1) Dummet - SOU (H)
    2) Wisdom - EVE (A)

    1. Black Knights

Dummett. Saints may be too busy trying to fill their defensive gaps that they forget to try and attack.

    This is it:

    Panti, Hamer

    Terry, Coloccini, PVA, Hutton, Cameron

    Hazard, Sanchez, ADM, Moses, Colback

    Costa, Agueo, Kane

      Well that different

Don't like Coloccini Cameron Moses Colback

Moses has an excellent run of games coming up, I don't like Downing's games after Hull and I don't want Chadli for two Spurs. I could push a Saints defender but they're in a state, so the 4 alongside Terry rotate nicely.

A rotateable defence with solid fixtures, Hazard, Sanchez, ADM, Costa, Aguero, and Kane, plus a midfielder playing as a forward for a team who face lei, QPR, new, ast, HUL in the next 6?

    12.45 GMT

A - Pelligrini says Aguero is fit and raring to go, and will lead his line tomorrow.

B - Pelligrini says Aguero is being introduced solely, and will again be sub tomorrow.

Oh how the FPL and this forum would react differently, dependent on these two scenarios!
