Today’s Members article is the third instalment focusing on player value. We turn our attentions to the top ten midfielders in our Members Projections area and analyse just why we anticipate each of them to be so budget-friendly Fantasy prospects in the upcoming 2011/12 campaign. With three of our top four are already justifying our hopes in early pre-season by finding the net in their respective clubs’ friendlies, some of the names are already blinking brightly on our radars…

    was waiting to see how much the aguera comes in at and then can make my choice on how to spend the £11million - apart from that what do you think on the rest of the team - I was thinking on Torres but not been impressed preseason

      Hmm... you're short of a midfieler, and a cheap one at that by my reckoning.

      Like your team, though. I'm going with big money up front this season. Possibly three 10mil + strikers. I don't really see the value in expensive mids and there's value to be had, like Taarabt and Sessegnon in your team, so I like the idea of loading up on RVP, Rooney and co.

      Personally not convinced by VDV, but I'm sure that will come back to haunt me.

          My team is ridiculously unbalanced at the minute 😆

          Currently looking at a forard line of Aguero, Rooney and RVP, and a defence that includes Kompany, Lescott and Luiz. Sure to end badly 😆

        VDV is the only big price mid apart from lampard that i think will start regularly so thats why went for him as a bit cheaper than lamps

      luiz is dodgy and terrible midfield. too many mid priced players downgrade baines to cole and spend that 1.5 mil on ur midfield now

      I think he's a bit steep at 5mil.

      That said, Wolves are a team I'm looking out for. They were a good side last season and were unfortunate not to finish higher.

      You can get more for 5mil than Roger Johnson. But with him at Wolves I'd be much happier to go for the likes of de Vreis if he were to be first choice. Could be the pick of the 4.0mil goalies.

        Surely he is a baragin at 5m? and how is de vries going to pass out Hennesy in goals? i think Johnson along with o'shea gibbs rafael and jagelika is a solid defence?

          He was the same price when he was at Birmingham, and they were much better defensively, so not sure how he's a bargain.

          Hughes, Shawcross, Nelsen, Assou-Ekoto are all 5m and offer much better returns, although I'm not really tempted by any of them - maybe Shawcross.

            Yes but all defenders are up since last year so think he not moving is a good price? not tempted by any of those either feel the ones i have will prove a good bit better than the ones u mentioned?

      Not sure if warnock will be played at villa with the rumours of bridge moving there. Other than that the defence is fine (i believe luiz will defo play before alex)

      Youve spent big on your midfield. I wouldnt personally have lampard in my team this year and probs never again with pastore possibly moving to chelsea and the 12 mil price is a bit steep. All the rest are fine.

      And personally i would have two strikers over 10 mil, so either get rid of rodallega or zamora.

      So not too many changes then 😉

      Nathan Dyer - 4.5mil. Decent prospect, who should deliver 2 points in most games whilst playing in a fairly advanced right wing role.

      I have my doubts about both Lampard and Silva. And I wouldn't pick anyone from the promoted sides other than Taarabt, Sinclair and Holt.

          Well, he is quality and served me well last season, but City have just bought another attacker, and Mancini's not a particularly gung-ho manager.

          I feel happy with just Kompany as cover for City's good fixtures.

            Sess. is better then that list except Barton.

            He scored at the end of last season, and in this preseason, so there is some indication that he'll be worthwhile.

            Stoke have 3 tough fixtures, their easy ones are all on the road.

            O Hara reliant on bonus that my dry up with the new system.

            WB have rough fixtures.

    Sinclair or Sessegnon? Sinclair scored an absolute bucketload last year and looks likely to be in the thick of whatever Swansea produce, whereas Sessegnon is SLIGHTLY more proven and OOP. Discuss, preferably with justification for your selection! 🙂

      Both massive risks for me and going to wait and see.

      Pick seasoned premiership players you know will perform instead of 'the next charlie adam' althogh i'm going to look a numpty when he actually does score 11 goals....unlikely though.

        Problem is, seasoned Premiership players who might do something decent tend to cost a bit more. Don't fancy the likes of Barton myself, not much potential there. I'm doing a mostly safe team but 2 or 3 risks I think

    as you can see i go cheap on subs so i can put the money in my starting 11 - anyone got any better suggestions for my subs

      i think its just because all the heavy priced midfielders (malouda, adam, nani ETC ETC) are all subject to rotation by their managers so people are trying to get players at reasonable price that will play week in week out and save money for forwards

        Yeah the problem is you either go with downgrading Suarez/Roondog and getting a big mid in, but the big mid options are from Chelsea and United teams where we don't know who will play or Arsenal and Spurs teams who have hard fixtures
