Today’s Members article is the third instalment focusing on player value. We turn our attentions to the top ten midfielders in our Members Projections area and analyse just why we anticipate each of them to be so budget-friendly Fantasy prospects in the upcoming 2011/12 campaign. With three of our top four are already justifying our hopes in early pre-season by finding the net in their respective clubs’ friendlies, some of the names are already blinking brightly on our radars…

Quite funny. I reckon this is skys fantasy football ad campaginOpen ControlsHow do people feel about Park or Anderson from Man U?
I’ve spent heavy on my forwards this season and need some good ideas for midfield players but have a tight budget?
Looks like Park is having a great pre season and has scored 3 out of there 4 friendly games?
Worth a punt??Open Controls
A fine post, Sir P. It has completely disrupted the thinking on my team 🙂

I'm in a bit of a pickle with my team, im just 0.5 million over my budget but don't want to change anybody. Please help!
GK - El-habsi / Ruddy
D - Kompany / Luiz / Collins / Wilkinson / Simpson
M - Downing / N'Zogbia / Taarabt or Sessegnon / Moses / Dyer(Swansea)
S - Rooney / Van Persie / Bent
I hope aguero will be 11.5 so i can put him in instead of rooney or van persie, that will answer my own question 🙂Open ControlsHaving Rooney , Van Persie and Bent is just plain greedy 😉
I'd be more concerned about the effect that has on the rest of your team. Moses AND Dyer...really. I'd choose between Rooney and RVP if I were you...look at Zamora or Rod and then look how much better your team would be spreading out that nice spare 5m.Open ControlsDefense is fine as long Luiz starts, a few risks on unproved players.
You have a strong attack which means your midfield lacks a big points scorer.
It's a fine team but you got to hope your forward line comes through for you each week because i don't see major points coming from midfield.Open Controls

Ok here is the untouchables and help and advice would be much appreciated
Al-Habsi (Given)
Clichy Kompany Ivanovic (Briggs, Wilkinson)
Toure Benayoun Barton Moses (Ferguson)
Suarez Rooney Van PersieOpen ControlsLike the look of Al-Habsi for first three games and then bring Given in. McCleish, if nothing else should bring some defensive stability to Villa so Given is a good choice. Clichy is a slight risk, but should be first choice left back, I'm sure he'll get quite a few clean sheets at City, Kompany will start and could be captain, but I dont see anything except clean sheets and bonuses coming his way, though thats good enough really. Ivanovic has looked very good in pre-season and with his ability to play anywhere across the back four, albeit left back rarely, is a very good pick. Briggs & Wilkinson just seem like filler but the other three should stay fit. Y Toure, I am unsure about, he's a good player but I'd have to see him in his first few games to be confident, worth the risk though at 8 points, could always sub out for N'zogbia if he settles well at Villa. Benayoun may well not start though as it stands he will, we (Chelsea) may buy Pastore (though I hope not) which I assume will drop Yossi to the bench, if he playes he will get points the little wizard, Barton again I'm unsure about, I like him though and so trust he'll be involved in the action so I'd stick with him, maybe not in first game as the top four always start the season well and sharp, their preparation is very good and I can see Arsenal winning, Moses is again filler, why not go for Tiote, he'll at least get game time and the odd goal. Ferguson, the same. Suarez is rumoured to be rested though I doubt it, he'll be fitter and sharper than most for the first few games so he's a great choice, Rooney is, I hate to say it, going to have a very good season this year so I would keep him all season and RVP is a tough one, the front the are very expensive, I'd consider dropping one of them for Rodallega as Wigan have the newly promoted 3 as their frist 3 games, RVP is always an injury risk and with Gervinho will now be under less pressure to get the goals. Though he is banned from Europe for the first game so should see more prem time. Overall, and in short 😉 I think its a good team. Id give some thought to O'Hara, Jarvis, Malouda, Hughes and Hangeland. Probably the biggest risk would be Arshavin, though I'd keep an eye on his form and playing time to begin with. Also, Drogba still looks a beast, yes I'm wearing blue tinted glasses but I would have him in there, especially as Torres is looking S**T and AVB isnt scared of not playing him. Jesus, you read all that?

Open ControlsHmmm lots of food for thought there then 🙂
Thanks for the advice though, all be it from a blues fan?
Really don't wanna change my strikers! But I see what you mean about it leaving a few filler players in my team
Well I will watch the pre season closely as I think yossi could be one of the bargains of the season, if avb gives him a chance.
And you are totally right about Rooney, he will be the star that leads Man U to title number 20 🙂Open ControlsAshley Cole's air rifle did do damage apparently

So is there a reason that Elliot Bennett of Norwich isn't on FPL (yet)? He was signed six weeks ago.

Can't wait to see the first game at Falmer. Been a long road back for you boys, but you've weathered it exceptionally well given the circumstances.
My honorary second club, for what it's worth 🙂Open ControlsI live away from Brighton now, but hope to see a game there over the autumn at some point. Certainly has been a long journey.
It seems like only yesterday I was watching Kurt Nogan ease in all those goals at the goldstone, share drinks and sorrows with Hull fans during our Gillingham exile and brave the wind and rain at the Withdean.Open ControlsI only ever saw the away games, in fairness, as my uncle was a diehard fan and used to pick us up on his way up from Brighton for the Northern and Midlands games (and he still refuses to go shopping at the old Goldstone Ground, but I have an inkling he just hates shopping).
Saw some crackers, though, including a 3-3 at Notts County. The whole thing should really serve as a warning - I don't think anyone would wish that on a club.Open ControlsThere's a great book on the subject....fans of Portsmouth, Birmingham etc should read it.

Will play Kompany every game, other def will rotate depending on home games which also rotate well.
Midfield will play everygame
Suarez and home striker to play
Unsure on moses, doesnt concern me having no man utd, arse,or cheski players.
Thoughts?Open Controlsvery poor team
Open Controlslook forward to seeing how you go this year mate, you were so helpful
Open Controls
Although Begovic and Given rotate perfectly, in the first 10 games, look at the teams Begovic will be playing at home (better to go with Al Ahabsi. Downing is a rotation risk.
Open Controlsdowning isnt a risk at all proven winger when we have bugger all at pool, wigans def is a joke 🙂
Open Controls
Hoilett is fa too expensive for what he offers. And I think you could make the money you've put into your defense do a bit more for you. Maybe get a couple of expensive defenders and three budget options to rotate into the final space, rather than one expensive defender and three mid priced ones.
Open ControlsI think he be dark horse for blackburn, i do have 1.5m in bank with this team cant justify expensive def i really like my plan
Open Controls
i would be a wee bit concerned not having some chelsea coverage given their nice fixtures, they had an easy start last year for the 1st 6 games and ran riot. Can i assume you still have a few £'s spare ?

would people generally say its a bad idea to have a starting 15 with 3 players from both fulham and villa in it?
Open ControlsOnly as bad an idea as attending a themed disco in the basement of a Mr. J. Fritzel. Hughes, Hangeland, Dempsey and Zamora are okay from Fulham and from Villa; Collins, Bent and Albrighton are okay so, actually, err, no, no its not that bad. Still dont go to that disco!

DEF Jagielka, Rafael, Kompany (Briggs, Wilkinson)
MID VDV, Taarabt, Sessegnon, (Sinclair)
ATT Rooney, Suarez (£11mill to spare on a striker)
was waiting to see how much the aguera comes in at and then can make my choice on how to spend the £11million - apart from that what do you think on the rest of the team - I was thinking on Torres but not been impressed preseasonOpen Controlsjohnson £4.5mil is my other MID
Open ControlsHmm... you're short of a midfieler, and a cheap one at that by my reckoning.
Like your team, though. I'm going with big money up front this season. Possibly three 10mil + strikers. I don't really see the value in expensive mids and there's value to be had, like Taarabt and Sessegnon in your team, so I like the idea of loading up on RVP, Rooney and co.
Personally not convinced by VDV, but I'm sure that will come back to haunt me.Open Controls

Quick question:
El-habsi and Collins
or
Given and Alcaraz???Open ControlsA
Open Controls
Roger Johnson for wolves looks like a good bet? and anyone got any ideas on forwards this year?
Open ControlsI think he's a bit steep at 5mil.
That said, Wolves are a team I'm looking out for. They were a good side last season and were unfortunate not to finish higher.
You can get more for 5mil than Roger Johnson. But with him at Wolves I'd be much happier to go for the likes of de Vreis if he were to be first choice. Could be the pick of the 4.0mil goalies.Open ControlsSurely he is a baragin at 5m? and how is de vries going to pass out Hennesy in goals? i think Johnson along with o'shea gibbs rafael and jagelika is a solid defence?
Open ControlsHe was the same price when he was at Birmingham, and they were much better defensively, so not sure how he's a bargain.
Hughes, Shawcross, Nelsen, Assou-Ekoto are all 5m and offer much better returns, although I'm not really tempted by any of them - maybe Shawcross.Open ControlsYes but all defenders are up since last year so think he not moving is a good price? not tempted by any of those either feel the ones i have will prove a good bit better than the ones u mentioned?

CHEERS LADSOpen ControlsNot sure if warnock will be played at villa with the rumours of bridge moving there. Other than that the defence is fine (i believe luiz will defo play before alex)
Youve spent big on your midfield. I wouldnt personally have lampard in my team this year and probs never again with pastore possibly moving to chelsea and the 12 mil price is a bit steep. All the rest are fine.
And personally i would have two strikers over 10 mil, so either get rid of rodallega or zamora.
So not too many changes then 😉Open Controls
