As many of you may have noticed, the EA Sports Index has already been published on the Premier League site. This, of course, is how the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will break down the Bonus Points in this season’s game.

Many of the names are as we anticipated, though what’s something of a surprise is Shay Given, with 5 saves in Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw at Fulham, looks as though he’s earned no Bonus Points, despite keeping the Cottagers at bay. Newcastle’s Steven Taylor, on the other hand, is the top-rated player on the Index for the goalless Newcastle-Arsenal game. Wigan’s Victor Moses, Man of the Match in many press sources with 9 successful dribbles and 3 shots, is also likely to miss out.

As expected, goal scoring is the main factor- by the looks of things, Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Ivan Klasnic and Steven Fletcher are the highest-rated players on the EA Sports Index for their respective games and seem set to grab all 3 Bonus Points.

Fantasy Football Scout will, of course, be breaking down the Bonus in full for the Premier League and you can expect our article on the matter to be published later today.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

It doesn't look o me as if any of the baps have been awarded yet on my mini league. I assume this will all be processed through tonight after the citeh game. Frustratingly slow. Pish start to the season for me as well. :/

I don't know but I can't see it being a dream with 33 Granville :-). I don't think wholesale changes need to be made at all, it's early days we all know how unpredictable the start of a season is anyway, get in say Roon and Cahill and your sorted there for the next few weeks. i'm just saying that it's ridiculous to be constantly going on about an extra wildcard when he himself decided to leave it to the last minute to change things. Would he want one if there was a power cut?

      Highly doubtful.

There's a guy in my league who, from the looks of it, had an auto-complete team and was waiting to finalise his team on Friday night/Saturday morning. It's not his fault ("oooh, but he had two months yada yada yada..."). FPL servers crashed a good 16 or so hours before the deadline, not his fault. So I actually think he should be allowed a free wildcard, but then if he could we all should and that would put people who planned thier teams for x weeks at a disadvantage. Not fair either way really.

I don't see how this EA sports index can be called transparent, anyone got any info on how many points they actually allocate for each action?

The description on the premier league website is full of phrases like

'Players will receive more points if they play the full 90 minutes in a winning team'

    and

'Players receive points for positive influences on a winning performance '

but there is no indication on how many. Bonus points now just rely on how valuable EA have decided a contribution to a match is, which they are not telling us.

Is this any better than last season?? I think not.

Thanks for pointing that out, I did read it, I think that it highlights my point

'we’re working with a large number of blind spots'

To be fair to the scout, good job doing all that analysis for us, and picking out that attacking players are probably going to do a lot better.

Fair play, I see your point. BP allocation is now transparent as it based on a separate index, which in turn is completely untransparent...

I think it's just going to be a case of waiting for the boffins to work out the BP patterns, and adjust your tactics accordingly. No point throwing the toys out after 1 GW.

Seen MOTD and he hardly seemed to be involved except for the penelty incident.

He had a quiet game. Did well winning the ball back in midfield but Stoke's play was pretty much by-passing the midfield so he couldn't really get into the game. Didn't make many runs beyond the strikers either except for that penalty incident you mention.

He's on pens though and a few free kicks from wide areas, but not justifying 12.0 judging by yesterday's game.

I'd stick if you've got him, but Malouda looks a better shout as a Chelsea mid.

Don't agree. I thought Lampard got into some good positions yesterday and he certainly wasn't playing as a defensive mid. Malouda on the other hand looked poor and was subbed accordingly. I had planned on putting Malouda in for this week now but i will probably hold off. Gabbidon to Bosingwa may be the way i go but we'll wait and see.

He wasn't playing as a DM, no, but I thought his best work was done winning possession and then making short passes to the forwards or advanced full backs. I can only recall one shot from him and one run into the box.

Agree Malouda had a very poor game but he was playing as a forward, so more points potential than Lampard and a good bit cheaper.

Also agree Bosingwa could be a good shout. Thought he had a good game defensively and going forward. Ivan rotation is the main concern though.

Guess what. I've just made 2 transfers to my team (I'm away for a week with no internet access), and everyone in my league can see the new players. I thought the FPL site couldn't get any worse, but the muppets have proven be wrong again. Pretty fed up with this shambles, that's 2 gameweeks now compromised; it's a shame the scout can't take over the running of the site so it becomes as excellent as this one.

I wasn't a big fan of the old bonus point system - highly subjective. Yes the new one will bring up odd results, and won't always reward the best performance, but at least knowing it largely works on pass and shot accuracy means that if you're picking players for bonus points then you know which players to go for.

Goalkeepers will lose out, but I don't think there is any reason for going striker/mid or defence heavy - there are accurate passers in all three groups.

It was perhaps a necessary change in order to facilitate other improvements.

I like the new layout. Every single person in my whole league managed to join the league and have the team they wanted in time, because they didnt mess about making and confirming 'joke' teams, like a lot of people were moaning about doing over the wknd!

I agree that people not being able to log in right now is the most serious issue though, as if you cant get in then you cant play.

Waiting an extra day for bonus points is no hardship tho! It means the excitement lasts a bit longer!

Only players from that game ahead that I can see are Zamora & Johnson on 20 & 19, who contributed massively to Given getting all those saves, & Agbonlahor on 16.

It's so so well layed out and easy to use ?

Maybe the FPL could look at buying it off them ??

Chris Brunt's high placement despite the loss has just put him firmly on my radar.

I have some reservations but am not going to judge it based on one week. I feel like putting it entirely down to stats might not fully take into account the moments that mean more than others despite looking the same on paper, but we'll see.

Which of the following two looks better for GW2:

    3 Zamora A Wolves

Flip a coin. I'd probably go with the player that got the highest EA points.

I'd got 1,2,3. Moses will be invloved well for Wigan and should get some decent chances at Swansea. Stoke and Wolves will be tight.

I like the look of Wolves for some good, cheap cleansheets this season.

Barcelona and their fans are snobs and hypocrits, really hope Real Madrid beat them this season, regardless of the fact I love watching them play. Doubt it will happen though, the Supercup showed that even if Jose gets his tactics spot on and dominates the game, Barcelona only need one chance to score. If and when we turn Romeu into a world class player I dread Barcelona complaining we won't 'give him back'.

Wait, I just read that you can see transfers before the gameweek starts?!

    tell me that isn't true.

Plus, I don't like this updating after the gameweek ends. I want to see it updated live like last year. I don't like to moan too much, but it is kind of annoying compared to last time. This is more like the crappy Sky one.
