In a new series of Members articles entitled “Talent”, we turn our attentions to players whose Fantasy fortunes have taking an upturn over their previous four Gameweeks. Digging deep into the Opta stats and our very own ICT Index, we analyse the data to ascertain just why this has come about. First up, then, is none other than Sunderland’s on-loan forward, Nicklas Bendtner.

A mere bench-warmer at Arsenal, the big Dane’s last-minute move to Wearside has kick-started his chances as a viable Fantasy prospect this term. With Asamoah Gyan moving to the United Arab Emirates to star for Al-Ain on a season-long loan, Bendtner has grabbed the role as Steve Bruce’s number-one forward and, so far, has justified his manager’s faith.

Although he missed last weekend’s game at Arsenal due to the loan arrangement with his parent club, Bendtner’s four games for Sunderland have seen him return one goal, three assists and three Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points; that’s twenty-four Fantasy points from the 6.4 forward, an average of 6 points per game. He also took that form into last week’s international matches, scoring in Denmark’s crucial 2-1 Euro 2012 qualifier over Portugal- with a run of games under his belt, he’s starting to show a consistency that none, other than Bendtner himself, had expected. Here’s how he’s been faring up on Wearside:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I'm trying to decide quite how terrible I think Bolton's defense are as to whether to get him in this week (for a hit) or next. Probably wait a week.

Alright I have a bone to pick. Why is everyone so obsessed with getting VDV. He has been playing really
average and has been lucky with goals. Was terrible on the wing and after 'arrys comments at the end of last week it appears he will be dropped for Defoe

reason is because while your logic has merit, your post could have been made before the last 3 weeks and would have had merit then too

Surely you cannot ignore the managers comments though. He regretted starting him so will surely not start him ahead of Defoe this week

Surely you can't believe that the manager's comments are strictly honest. He made the same type of comments before the last game, and VDV returned 10 FPL points from it.

Sure but can you trust that he won't be dropped. Remember Defoe scored when he came on and looked alot sharper. I certainly wouldn't bring VDV in for a player like Nani and I certainly wouln't captain him, far to risky

There is definitely risk, but he is on penalties and he has scored in three straight matches and he scored a ton last year...There is rotation risk with Nani. That said I wouldn't drop Nani for him, but neither am I dropping him for Nani right now. Cheaper and a differential.

no don't trust it at all, Harry's a blusterer...that's what he does. Do you remember? He talks all kinds of sh%t from the seat of his Range Rover, which is where I'm sure they gleamed those tidbits from him post training session. Hell I remember clearly the year they got VDV, Harry said from the seat of his Range, "Yeah I reckon we're done finally at the 11th hour, we don't have any other prospects" 5 minutes later the owner puts him on VDV, and 25 minutes later the deal was done. Just pretend that VDV is Darren Bent and it will all make sense. If someone asks you how Rafael played, you just tell them it doesn't matter how he played, he just scores goals.

he's always making those comments and then the same thing happens again - its like groundhog day

that being said, i dont have him - have adebayor instead, but hes looking tempting for that qpr home game in wk 10 - may see how he does against blackburn, just got a feeling it'll be the same story again (a good score - subbed early - this kind of conversation again)

I have this crazy idea of captaining Drogba over Suarez and RVP.

Explanation: For Drogba this is his last chance before Torres gets back and needs a strong performance. It is also possible the RVP won't have it all his way against a solid Stoke defence albeit away. Also Norwich proved a strong devensive force Against Man United and could do so again against Liverpool.

Drogba would also be killer differential

    Thoughts?

I'm considering between playing Drogba or replacing him with Suarez and now so hesitate to make a move. Drogba rested last night added confidence of him to start on the weekend. The patience might pay off in the last game (before Torres available).

The key concern is his form and the role he plays. He seems not the most advance player in the last two games. He rarely ran into the box as compared to Sturridge. Also, there seem no service from Sturridge as the kid seems to shoot rather than pass.

I want to know how other owners think too.

Yeah your right, Sturridge is very selfish and Drogba isn't selfish enough, could persuade me to just captain RVP. The risk is tantalising though

Thinking my defensive base is going to be Bosingwa-JEnrique-nufcDef for the foreseeable

    Instead I am considering a 3 top of Rooney-RVP-Aguero.

What's up with Arshavin? My 40kg labrador is faster than him.

Hmmmmm......Why doesn't Meireles play more often? Is it a case of Mata & Meireles in the same team doesn't work?

I'd like to see them both in the same team. Chelsea seem to look more purposeful/direct when Meireles plays.

God Arsenal are poor at the moment. Andre Santos, Arshavin, Walcott, Song and Rosicky have been awful.

Not watching the game -- surprised to see Song in that list. The rest... unfortunately all too familiar. Bring on Gervinho!

Keeps giving the ball away and got a stupid booking. He's probably the least bad of that lot. I don't understand why we didn't sell Arshavin - he's one of the least effective players I've seen in an Arsenal shirt. No exaggeration

Walcott has been utter sh*te. I just don't understand him as a player. He always gets his crosses wrong.

He's been terrible all season. Can't dribble or cross. Having him on the wing is a brilliant idea.
