Arsene Wenger warns of Christmas rotation, while Mick McCarthy talks tactics. Roberto Mancini reckons thereโ€™s no way back for Carlos Tevez at Man City and Jack Wislhere is ready to step up light training ahead of a January return:

Arsene Wenger had plenty of injury news to reveal this morning. On the positive side, Marouane Chamakh is available for the weekend, though given his game time, heโ€™ll likely warm the bench at Carrow Road tomorrow lunchtime. Abou Diaby is back to full training after recovering from a long-term ankle problem, though Wenger had some full-back problems ahead of the trip to Norwich. Kieran Gibbs is out for 4-5 weeks with a hernia problem, while Carl Jenkinson has a stress fracture of the back and will be rested. Given Bacary Sagna is also out, Johan Djourou seems the likeliest to fill in at right-back.

Further good news for Wenger came from Jack Wilshere. The midfielder has yet to play in the league this season for the Gunners due to an ankle injury but revealed on twitter yesterday that he has now ditched his crutches and is expected to start light training imminently, with Wenger reckoning he is on course for a return in mid to late January.

The Arsenal boss has also given Fantasy managers advanced warning of his plans to rotate his players over the winter period. Citing last yearโ€™s busy Christmas period, Wenger explained he will utilise his squad to a greater extent this time round, with a busy schedule on the cards:

I will certainly rotate more because we have to face so many games. I think it was last year at Sunderland that we changed 10 players because we played three days later at Manchester City. Everybody asked me why I did it but you have to rotate at some stage and that is why we have a big squad.

Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Ashley Young is back in the Man United squad for the champions’ trip to Swansea. Chris Smalling is out but could return in midweek for the Champions League game with Benfica, while Tom Cleverley should be sidelined till around Christmas time, with his ankle injury more serious than first anticipated.

Roberto Mancini was quizzed, once again, on Carlos Tevez in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game with Newcastle. With the Argentine AWOL in his homeland, the City boss, when asked if he reckoned Tevez would play for the club again, admitted:

I don’t think so. I know he is in Argentina. I don’t know what he is doing.

Cheik Tiote has been ruled out of Newcastleโ€™s crucial trip to Man City tomorrow. Alan Pardew confirmed the player still hasnโ€™t sufficiently recovered from a knee problem and while he sang the praises of Danny Guthrie ahead of the Etihad trip, thereโ€™s little doubt itโ€™s a bitter blow. Pardew went on to say that the Ivorian could โ€œpossiblyโ€ be available for next weekโ€™s game with Man United. Newcastle will have to do without Sylvain Marveaux until the New Year– the winger limped out of the previous gameweek with a groin problem and is set to go under the knife to resolve the issue.

Reports this morning suggest Steven Gerrard could miss the next two league games for Liverpool as he continues to recover from an infected ankle. Though Kenny Dalglish admitted his skipper was โ€œprogressing brilliantlyโ€œ, the games with Chelsea and Man City look like coming too soon. Jamie Carragher is available for selection ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend but with Liverpool recording back-to-back clean sheets in his absence, Dalglish has a quandary on his hands.

Asmir Begovic received the backing of Tony Pulis yesterday after a recent loss of form for Stoke. The Potters keeper was culpable a couple of time in the 5-0 defeat at Bolton but his manager made it clear yesterday that he is fully behind Begovic, denying suggestions that he is considering cropping the player. With (QPR, BLA) to come, itโ€™s a welcome relief for his Fantasy owners.

Mick McCarthy talked tactics yesterday ahead of his sideโ€™s trip to Everton. The Wolves boss admitted the recent 4-5-1 formation gives his side a more solid feel and gets the best out of Jamie Oโ€™Hara- backed up by the former Spurs manโ€™s goal and pair of assists against Wigan in the previous gameweek:

Whenever I change the system there is so much made of it. For the first three games we were 4-4-2 and everybody is like: ‘we were brilliant’ and it’s all 4-4-2 which is the answer and the way forward. We conceded some really poor goals and it was nothing to do with the fact we had a couple of wingers on the pitch. The other system does make it harder to be beaten and doesn’t leave us as wide open. It gets players in better positions and gets Jamie further forward who is as good a finisher as anybody is.

Scott Dann and Michel Salgado gave Blackburn boss Steve Kean plenty to cheer about, with the news that both are fit and available ahead of the weekend trip to Wigan. Skipper Chris Samba is โ€œvery closeโ€œ to returning from a hamstring injury, according to the Rovers boss, who will be without Simon Vukcevic, after the midfielder suffered a broken nose while on international duty.

Neil Warnock revealed some interesting thoughts on Adel Taarabtโ€™s future at QPR. The Moroccan is unlikely to feature this weekend due to the last weekโ€™s international commitments but Warnock elaborated:

He has been away with Morocco, so he probably won’t be involved this weekend. It has been difficult to get Adel into the system we are playing. We have also changed our tactical outlook since last season. If Paris Saint-Germain offered ยฃ20million, I’d drive him there myself!

Stephen Kelly will miss out this weekend for Fulham, after picking up a groin strain on international duty. With Zdenek Grygera also injured, Martin Jol will be relieved to welcome Aaron Hughes back to the first-team fold- this allows Chris Baird to move to the problem right-back slot, with Hughes likely to slot in alongside Brede Hangeland for the trip to Sunderland. Philip Senderos is also available, though according to the Cottagers boss, Steve Sidwell has an 80% chance of not playing, after a hernia operation.

Paul Lambert delivered some positive injury news ahead of Norwichโ€™s game with Arsenal. Both Russell Martin and Bradley Johnson has recovered from knocks and are available for selection, while centre-halves Zak Whitbread and Daniel Ayala are both back in training.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I was on Collins > McAuley for most of these 2 weeks. But I think the return of ShawX has me contemplating on Collins > Wilko, thereby doubling up on STO defence for the next 2 weeks. Plan is to get rid of ShawX in Gw14/15.

    Which one?
    A. You’re insane, just stick to the more nailed-on option (McAuley)
    B. Ha, WBA barely keep a CS. Go for it! (Wilko)
    C. Don’t you think a certain Vorm demands another def in your team? (Naylor/Rangel)
    D. Stop being that frugal with your defence. (Get a TOT/EVE defender)

Any guess on the Chelsea line-up this weekend?

    Cech
    Bos Terry Alex Cole
    Meireles Lampard Ramires
    Sturridge Torres Mata

Any chance of Malouda taking Sturridge's place? The Bos guess is based on Ivan playing twice and Bosingwa not although I wouldn't be suprised either way.

Only other possibilities are Mikel for Meireles, Malouda for Studge and Ivan for Bos. I'd say the latter is the most likely.

Yeah. I'm a Sturridge owner and a Bos non-owner. Hope Sturridge starts - it's been quite hard to tell with AVB recently. He's benched just about everybody up front bar Mata.

The defence (or lack of it!) currently consists of:

    Given (Ruddy)

    Bosingwa Wilkinson Enrique (Orr) (Simpson)

    Problems:
Both Keeper choices this week are rubbish
    Bos probably won't play
Simpson could get a hammering at Man City.

    1. Should I just bite the bullet and leave it as it is? and then transfer in Jones and Vorm for Given and Bos next week.

    2. Get in Vorm for Given this week (long-term replacement).

    3. Get in Brown for Bos this week (and forget about Jones for the next 3/4 weeks)

Preference not to burn any points on def transfers!

As a Nani owner, fancy him to start & be rested this weekend. Swans are just the kind of side Nani feeds on. SAF knows that. Take the Stoke game for instance.

I might change my mind again - I think I might still use the WC…

    Dyer->Drenthe
    Agbonlahor -> 6.0m FWD

(and if I use the WC maybe move on Ruddy too)

    Which could leave me

    Vorm (Ruddy?)
    P.Jones Kompany Shawcross (Enrique Simpson)
    Silva VdV Drenthe Ramsey Pilkington
    Suarez RvP (Hoilett/Holt/???)

'We have a problem with 4 players who played 2 full games and players like Zaba and Aguero who got here yesterday and are tired. This is the problem after an international break but no one's injured so that's the important thing'. Basically no where does he mention that he's going to rest Aguero so I think i'm going to stick with him this week as he has played the least amount of minutes out of Balotelli and Dzeko.

post from man city forum from someone who watched their training session today. all took part including south american players and nasri!!

"Hell that was a long 2 weeks with no training! According to Brian Kidd they all returned fit and well and today there were 19 in full training (+keepers) and that included Nasri and Owen H. When I arrived Kidd and Fausto were setting stuff up very close to the fence so I would be fully entertained. After Yaya came out early as he often does he was followed by 4 keepers and Joe decided it was a long walk so borrowed the groundsman's buggy. Typical Joe.

Sharon was clicking away for the OS and a bunch of the regular cameras were near me behind the fencing. Plenty of signs that more fencing is shortly to be put up and thw word is it will be very high, like the catch nets behind goalsd and all the way around all the pitches.Could be a sad day.Not sure if I will get any opportunities but every single day there are people on the inside just watching so I live in hope.

After initial jogging and awarm ups it was into keep ball circles and one in particular was bursting with fun and noise. No surprise then it included Micah,Nigel,Joleon,Vinnie,Milner. The target always seems to be 20 passes and the bvest moment was when it got close to that with Vinnie in the middle with Micah.Milner shouted look out Vinnie's going to smash. Sure enough seconds later Vinnie launched into one near Zaba and took a massive divot.Plenty of disagreemenets in these keep ball circles but always sorted with a vote which usually seemed to be led by Lescott. Pure playground stuff and good fun.

Quite a few pairs of new yellow and red boots which I hadnt seen before and Mario with a new haircut. Not that new but a new pattern on the strip. Then it was onto more exercises and stretching before some football switching between small and large nets.1 touch stuff and the only goal in the small nets was Edin.Good signs for me from the start watching Nigel closely as he looked in great spirits. In the game where they could only score with headers Savic managed 3 saves with his head early on before Zaba scored one after Nigel hit the post and then Gaza scored "another".It all finished with another brief game with the small nets and a sublime piece of play from Silva where he sadly hit the post rather than score.

The keepers came over now for the finishing game.Panti with a white snood again! A clever bit of work left Aguero with an easy goal right at the start but I think that might have been cancelled as Aguero was playing for the wrong team so he put a bib on! Micah broke well and missed a chance,Panti saved well from Kolarov,Savic defended brilliantly on Mario,a brilliant goal line clearance from Clichy and then a moment when Vinnie really showed the effort being put in just trying to stop a corner. No doubt at all they were all fully at it considering the football played and especially the travelling in the last 2 weeks. They had a training session yesterday but by all acounts it was low key and with quite a few still missing.

The from nowhere 2 goals in a minute.A Yaya goal from an AJ set up and then another from that ace goalscorer NDJ.That was about it from the match but I had noticed the boss talking with each of the 3 strikers at different times of the session. Not a long one today as might be expected and only a few staying out for a bit extra.Nigel,AJ and Milner practicing finishing from the edge of the box,Owen H just doing more work and with Clichy for a while.

Good to see my Neil from Blue Moon getting along and a twitter to watch NMT/MCFC.

    Doug "

Yeah I agree about that, it was the previous statements from Mancini that Aguero is tired and we all remember what happened before when he said that. I got burnt with Silva captaincy, Speaking with all the 3 strikers means definitely rotation.

I could, but I also have Westwood in goal, so I would either be doubling on Sunderland (FUL) or Stoke (QPR). Slightly fancy a Stoke CS over a Sunderland CS, hence why Brown is on the bench. I have to play Moses this week - if he's going to do anything, BLA is as good a chance as any. He will go during the Jan wildcard, until then he is bench fodder after this week.

Nani I'm not too sure about but might play to send Rooney further up front to break the Swansea defence.
VDV will play and score quite a few, he has til monday to be fully fit and he should be as he sounds like he wants to play.

The others... i would say Evans probably wont, if he does probably get a CS.
Sturridge will play, probably score a goal.

    RM WCT?

    Vorm/Westwood

    Wilkinson, Simpson, McAuley, Enrique, BAE
    Silva, VdV, Lampard, Drenthe, Pilkington
    RVP, Dzeko, Ba

Could bring Jones in for Enrique, and BAE->Brown but i’ve had him since 5.0 and see him as a season keeper, had Ba for a while and not sure whether to take the profit now because his fixtures aren’t bad after City/Utd/Chelsea are out the way. Bendtner’s tempting but y'know, its Bendtner

Basing the team around Silva/VdV/Lamps/RVP/Dzeko, if i need Rooney/Aguero i’ll have to downgrade/swap one of those..

Any advice, I keep fiddling things around when really I should leave well alone ๐Ÿ˜›

Excellent midfiled and overall good balance and team coverage. Only people I would look at changing are

      1) Westwood (tad hypocritical given I just transferred him in) but I don't have Vorm and after this week he has good fixtures also. Vorm/Krul rotate best I think. Perhaps West/BAE/Enrique -> Krul/Brown/P Jones?

      2) Ba -> Bendy or Sturridge (fixtures based) but look to maybe bring him back when fixtures ease up.

Thanks for the feedback, I bought VdV at 9.9, so I don't think its worth swapping him out this week, though I do have Bale atm, with cash in the bank to upgrade to lampard, bought him this week for the price rises.

I looked at the Howard/Vorm combo, but I couldn't find a way to get the extra 1 mil out of my team other than downgrading Pilks to Fox (or 4.5 mid) or downgrading Ba to someone like Morison or Graham, but i think there's quite a big gap between the 5 mil strikers and the 6 mil strikers.

I'll just have to make the right call on Krul/Westwood, BAE/Brown, Ba/Bendy ๐Ÿ˜›
