This weekend’s home clash with Chelsea precedes a hugely promising run of four fixtures that sees Newcastle ripe for Fantasy investment….

Three home games in the next four for Blackburn has us pondering Steve Kean’s attacking assets, while Jamie O’Hara will be looking to fire Wolves up the table with a kind run of matches at Molineux on the horizon.

Our new rankings are viewable in your sidebar as ever. Read on for details of this week’s big moves.

Swansea’s sixth clean sheet of the season against Villa once again rewarded owners of Michel Vorm. The Dutchman climbs back on top of our keeper rankings, toppling Sunderland’s Kieren Westwood who failed miserably to capitalise on a home clash with lowly Wigan at the weekend and now suffers a drop as his fixtures stiffen, with three away trips in the next four gameweeks.

Newcastle’s Tim Krul and Blackburn’s Paul Robinson now occupy the top three slots – both enjoy improved fixtures, with the latter offering a good fit when it comes to alternating with the aforementioned Vorm.

Leighton Baines retains the top spot in our defender rankings, having delivered a goal, assist and a clean sheet over his last two outings. With fixtures on his side, Baines has every opportunity to go on delivering and justify his hefty price tag; with just 6.1% ownership, Baines also presents a potentially profitable differential going into the Christmas period.

Left-backs dominate our current thinking – with Jose Enrique and Ryan Taylor featuring next. Both carry attacking potential and line up in defences that are well capable of returning clean sheets in the coming gameweeks as fixtures improve for the pair.

With Phil Jones rested from the 1-1 with Newcastle, his placing in our rankings takes a dent. With very strong fixtures over the next six gameweeks, Jones holds in fourth but would have perhaps pushed up further with if his starting role had been more secure. There’s no question that coverage of the improved United defence looks desirable for the month ahead and Jones remains the best value route in to Alex Ferguson’s defence. Only Nemanja Vidic and perhaps Patrice Evra present real security.

The situation with the City defence was confused further by Vincent Kompany’s smartly taken goal at Anfield – his second of the season. Having previously failed to threaten goals from set-pieces, Kompany is now a clear menace to opposition from a dead-ball. Micah Richards, however, has his own threat at set-plays and is unquestionably more likely to offer assists, having delivered five so far this term. It’s a close call between the pair, with Kompany perhaps delivering the greater security – we go with Richards for now.

Rafael Van der Vaart’s hamstring injury has him drop from the top of our midfield rankings. There’s still uncertainty over the Dutchman’s availability for the weekend clash with Bolton and his FPL ownership has suffered as a result. Van der Vaart holds in our top five, but David Silva’s consistency has him climb to the top, with Tottenham’s Gareth Bale benefiting from four consecutive gameweeks of returns to claim second.

Chelsea’s Juan Mata delivered on his potential in the 3-0 dismantling of Wolves of the weekend – his second double figure FPL return of the season. With Frank Lampard rested to the bench, Mata succeeds the England veteran as our weapon of choice within Andre Villas-Boas’ midfield. Although fixtures stiffen badly for Chelsea in the coming weeks, this may well see attacking returns increase as the Blues are forced to retaliate against Newcastle, City and Tottenham in the next four gameweeks.

Lower down the rankings, mid-price potential is offered by Wolves’ Jamie O’Hara, Bolton’s Chris Eagles, Sunderland’s Seb Larsson and the omnipresent Jon Walters of Stoke.

Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa is perhaps the most intriguing new option here – offering out of position potential, playing up in support of Demba Ba. There will be concerns of the security of the Frenchman’s starting role once Alan Pardew’s options up front are restored, but if Ben Arfa can do enough to cement his start, at 5.4 in the FPL, he looks a strong value option.

The forward rankings see movement in the top three with Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor and United’s Javier Hernandez the men in form, with the fixtures to maintain it through December. They benefit from declining confidence in City’s Sergio Aguero who has returned 2 goals in his last seven appearances. The Argentine’s winner from the bench in last night’s Carling Cup tie issued a reminder of his qualities, and with Norwich the visitors this weekend, he remains firmly in our Fantasy plans. Both Adebayor and Hernandez have stronger form and fixtures to come however.

Newcastle’s Demba Ba and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge both maintain high rankings with decent form – Ba in particular enjoys a big climb with his fixtures improving markedly in December.

Blackburn’s pairing of Yakubu and Junior Hoilett present budget options lower down the rankings; while Steve Kean’s side have struggled for results, goals are flowing and both players should be in line for profits from a run of three home games in four. Like Baines in defence and O’Hara in midfield, they are your December differentials for those looking to gamble in order to close a mini-league gap.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I've posted this before but does anyone else reckon hits are more worth it this season because of the new bonus point system?

Last year it was relying on the player you bought in to score more than 4 points than who you were swapping him in for. This year with the scorers pretty much always getting a bonus, it seems more worth it because they only need to score one to be guaranteed to get more points.

A guy in my mini-league has been taking 8 points hits since a few gameweeks in and has steady caught up from being more than 70 points behind to being 30 ahead of me.

The guy leading my minileague, look at his transfer history: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1254345/history/

Fair enough, he have had an insane amount of luck with some transfers. Dropped Rooney after his back to back hattricks for RVP etc.

Bullet dodged for me. I loitered at the Wilko bus stop for a long time a few weeks back, change cluthced in my sweaty palm and ready to spend my cash on him. Went for the more expensive BAE taxi in the end and have been enjoying the journey ever since. I'll wave to the Wiko owners as I speed past (that's if I can see them beyond the driver's massive hairdo).

Currently deciding whether to catch the Bale taxi after my VDV limo broke down.

Alternatively I could just switch bus routes from the Ramsey to Larsson.

May just end up with the cheapest option....walking with O'Hara.

Rangel for Naylor if you want to keep doubling up on SWA. Bendtner -> Ba is another option, but need some cash for that. Would want to get rid of Arteta too. Downgrade him to a cheap mid and upgrade Bendtner maybe?

I am uncomfortable about VDV starting, and am tempted to do VDV>Nani though would really rather not sell. The word seems to be he is still a doubt this wkd and his value is taking a hit although doesn't effect my sale value until he hits 10.1 so safe for now.

My current team for this gw is:

    Vorm
Enrique Jags Walker ( Turner Simpson )
VDV Mata Rodwell Silva ( Dyer )
    RVP Sturridge Ade

Bearing in mind Rodwell is also a doubt I feel I need to make a change to either VDV or Rodwell and have 1.1 in the bank? Tempted with Rodwell to Sess?

Is it worth a hit to do both, just get rid of one and play Dyer or should I stick and hope Turner gets a clean sheet?

Do The Norwich defender, not Simpson. I would say downgrade one of the Tottenham trio if you are dead set on the move for Verm. Pick your least favorite.

    I have an idea...rate my team/idea:

    Vorm
    Richards, Enrique, Wilkinson
    VDV, Eagles, Walcott, Mata, Silva
    Klasnic, Ade, RVP

Plan: Klass to Vellios and maybe leave it at that and bench eagles... or for an additional 4pt I could get in Kaboul or BAE; or should I just leave well enough alone for this game week?

    Thoughts?

Unless you're planning 3-5-2 every week, Vellios would be a poor shout. You get to choose 5 mids, only 3 att. Don't waste one

Pretty mysterious...no one should be able to tell you with any certainty...all the Citeh fan blogs suck ass, surface fans. I wouldn't f*ck about with Mancini, but if there was one player that you could do this with this season it would be Kun, as he seems to be his tech9 that he pops the trunk for when cats start trippin...

Smells like a Yaya bullyfoot game anyhoo...

I disagree. Reo-Cocker is an excellent 2/3rd sub. Almost guaranteed 2pts waiting in the wings for 4.4m.

I'd switch Aguero for Hern. Frees up some cash for trading in dyer (who I'm not convinced on)

A, as Simpson probably won't get you much both Citeh strikers carry a risk (Dzeko more so than Kun) but Vermaelen should have a decent CS chance as well as set-piece presence.

If I were you, I might be thinking of Vermaelen & Ballotelli as well...

    Thoughts on my team please!!

    Vorm (Given)
    Jones Enrique Kompany (Simpson Ward)
VDV Silva Walters Drenthe (Ferguson--ignore, ignore and ignore)
    Bendy RVP Hernandez

My team isn't looking very sharp..worried about my midfield..what happened to Drenthe and Jones last week? Was it injury?
I've got 1 FT and 1.5m in bank..time to ship someone out?..also consider that I need to climb up my H2H league 🙁
    Thoughts???

      Bendy -> Yakubu
      Ferguson -> Brunt/O'Hara or similar

      or Ferguson -> HBA

or downgrade 1 of your 3 big defenders and upgrade Bendy/Ferguson.

      Plenty of choices

Anyone in their right mind considering sletcher? good fixtures back from injurys hmmm, i dont know. Im trying to fund Aguero to Rooney next week and im looking as ways to get 0.5 fromthe front line of

    Silva VDV Brunt Drenthe Moses
    Bendtner RVP Aguero

i actually dont want to lose any of these players but its looking like its going to be Drenthe out. I have 2 frees this week and dont even want to use one of them. thinking Drethe to Ben Arfa, but that looks like one punt to another.

I seem to be rambling ..... any thoughts?

If you don't want to do VDV -> Bale (would give you enough money for Bendtner -> Ba aswell), then Drenthe for Barfa is looking good.

you could have 2 doubts there in dre and vdv

if vdv is passed fit maybe do dre to allen then you will have enough to upgrade aguero to roo and enough to do bentner to ba following week maybe

Allen is more likely to score than Dyer, much of Swans play goes through him.
