As we announced in our previous post, Rafael Van der Vaart is available for Spurs tomorrow. Elsewhere, another fast and furious Friday brings plenty news from around the Premier League- read on for more as the press conference updates begin to roll in.

Dimitar Berbatov, Rafael and Fabio have all been ruled out of Man United’s trip to Aston Villa tomorrow. The trio picked up injuries in the midweek Carling Cup defeat by Crystal Palace, though Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the Bulgarian’s injury is not a serious one.

Sylvain Distin looks set to return for Everton’s game against Stoke. The centre-half has been training with the first-team since Monday and is likely to recover from a groin strain ahead of the Goodison clash on Sunday. Phil Neville, Jack Rodwell and Royston Drenthe are all being assessed as the Toffees go for three wins in a row.

Shane Long is to take pain-killing injections in order to overcome a groin problem and play at QPR tomorrow. With Zoltan Gera ruled out for the season earlier this week, Long’s presence up front will be a major boost for West Brom ahead of the Loftus Road showdown.

Cheik Tiote will be missing once again for Newcastle as Chelsea make their make to Tyneside. The Ivorian has been sidelined for five games now, though Danny Guthrie has proven to be an able deputy alongside Yohan Cabaye. Leon Best is set to recover from a groin problem and boost Alan Pardew’s forward options.

Steve Kean received a significant boost ahead of tomorrow’s game with Swansea. Chris Samba, Martin Olsson and Michel Salgado are all available for the Ewood Park showdown for bottom of the table Blackburn. Junior Hoilett is a doubt, though, having picked up a virus.

Owen Coyle’s defensive worries are starting to ease up. Joe Riley is making good progress from a hamstring problem, while Sam Rickets has been penciled in for a reserve outing next week as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury. Neither will feature tomorrow at Spurs, though. Coyle confirmed both Dedryk Boyata and David Ngog are in contention for comebacks tomorrow, though Ricardo Gardner and Nigel Reo-Coker are rated as “touch and go”, with knee and hamstring problems respectively.

Danny Graham is a major doubt for Swansea at Blackburn tomorrow. Leroy Lita is likely to lead the line for the Swans, with Graham struggling to overcome an Achilles problem sustained in last week’s draw with Aston Villa. Ashley Richards should deputise for Angel Rangel at right-back, with the Spaniard sidelined for a month with an ankle injury picked up in the same game.

Richard Stearman is set for a speedy return to the Wolves first-team. The right-back looks likely to play with a protective cast on his injured wrist on Sunday at home to manager-less Sunderland- Ronald Zubar seems set to drop out again for the crucial clash against the Black Cats.

Neil Warnock revealed he is still optimistic that Shaun Wright-Phillips will be involved in QPR’s game with West Brom. The winger- who has been playing up front of late- picked up a foot injury last week but is set to feature, providing he comes through today’s training session unscathed. Adel Taarabt could return to the first-team squad, while Kieron Dyer and David Connolly are making good progress from injury.

Damien Duff is a doubt for Fulham’s game with Liverpool on Monday night. The winger returned to the first-team in last night’s Europa League clash with FC Twente but suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

So VDV's return is causing me to rethink my transfer strategy for this week, was going to do Given > Ruddy and Rangel > Jagielka for a 4 point hit but now thinking about Nani > VDV instead of the Rangel transfer (but still for the 4 point hit).

Is VDV worth the panic buy while he's down in price? Could that move be kept for another week? Will Nani get back to that blistering form of last season now that Man U are entering an easy run? Are hits involving keepers madness?

    Rest of the team is:
    Vorm Given
    Enrique Shawcross Simpson Brown Rangel
    Ramsey Silva Nani Mata Dyer
    Yakubu RVP Suarez

I plan Suarez to Ba next week (have given him too many last chances)

    Input appreciated.

This Odemwingie business is becoming ridiculous now, the media are making so much of it. He isn't unsettled and he hasn't had a falling out with the manager, he has just had injury problems, he has barely played 2 straight games and still has 2 goals, not great but not terrible. It isn't like he has played every game and just simply isn't been playing well.

How do you know? Although, I am more inclined to believe you because the media in this country are disgraceful and there's no proof to their claims. I'd have Odemwingie if he was playing and playing well.

I do sometimes wonder about players using twatter and arsebook to discuss things about what always used to be confidential inhouse issues.

Long got injured by a very bad tackle and was back within no time, Odemwingie has been getting small niggly injuries that have been keeping him out for lots of games. That is why he was getting frustrated.

The manager goes public with his frustrations and a player tries to justify why he hasn't played.

In most cases the use of Twitter is totally unnecessary but in this instance I can see why he used it, he was just trying to defend his reputation.

Indeed, I bet Hodgson regretted what he said. Odemwingie returned on Saturday anyway and came on so hopefully will be ok now, just hate how he is now getting linked with every club when there is no way we will sell him.

No injury this week either so hopefully he can start getting a run of games, he has too much pace and skill to just be a one season wonder in this league imo. Against a rubbish slow defence he will rip them to shreds.

He was getting forward last year too, and that actually became problematic to Arsenal. I think he's as undisciplined as Darren Fletcher at holding, but that's not to say he's ignoring Wenger's instructions.

he did get Villa into the top 6 year after year, and made themn into one of the best and most consistant outfits in the league... sure he was no AVB, playing with much entertainment, terrible defending, losing and getting a title contending team into mid table, but thats possibly not such a bad thing.

Morinho qoute: "Five-four is a hockey score, not a football score. In a three-against-three training match, if the score reaches 5-4 I send the players back to the dressing rooms as they are not defending properly. So to get a result like that in a game of 11 against 11 is disgraceful."

Well to be fair it makes sunderland a more interesting prospect... O'N's a class manager, will do well for them. More importantly he won't buy Bendtner. Also he tends to buy his old team players, so expect some action from Villa!

Not madness at all in my opinion.

Those are all players you will want to keep long term and play every week, so the hit will more than pay you back by the returns you'll get from them.

    Squad is as follows:
    Given / Ruddy
    Enrique / Brown / Simpson / NTaylor / Bos
    VDV / Silva / Sess / Ramsey / Tiote
    RVP / Suarez / Ade

2 FT’s and zilch in the bank.

Plenty of changes needed I’m sure you’ll agree – I want rid of Given, Bos, Sess, Tiote, Ramsey and Suarez. Am thinking Suarez to Sturridge and Bos to Jags but am also up for my first points hit this w/end.
So do the first 2 changes make sense to you guys and any suggestions on a third transfer? If I do the first 2 then I’ll have 2.9M towards the next transfer.
    Help!

I can afford Baines but I'm really looking at strengthening my midfield with another big hitter in a few weeks time - be it Young / Nani (if Utd pick up) or Mata possibly. So I need to budget to do that.

In the Spurs games I've watched, VDV has created plenty of excellent chances for Ade (OK, he's missed them, but still...), and I'd expect VDV to get on the end of a few Ade knockdowns like he did with Crouch last season.

Top 100k (by the skin of my teeth), mid-table mediocrity in FT. My keepers, defence and cheapo mids letting me down in FPL, saved by the right decisions at the right times on Rooney and RvP.

                😀

Had it a few seasons ago and thought I'd give it a re-boot.

VdV or Ade for the arm-band?
Was going Ade until the VdV news and a few posts about how ade hardly gets his share of shots when they are paired...

thinking of doing Lampard & Hoilett our for Aguero & MGP for a 4 point hit. Anyone got any thoughts on that or alternative moves I could do?

thanks, I was also considering Fellaini, is he getting forward into goal scoring positions much? Aside from his goal last week!

I think Aguero should start, it is a slight worry tho

I wouldn't go with Fellaini, he'll score the odd goal but there's better, more attacking options for that price. Everton are a weird prospect at the moment, as a team they look great but there's no individuals other than Baines that look worth getting

Cheers, probably will give it a miss, as you say Baines is probably enough right now

      Lampard -> Mata
      Hoilett -> Adebayor

That would make more sense to me.

i thought about that, but i have been stung so many times with chelsea already this season. Boswinga, Lampard, Torres, even Mata didn't go amazingly for me either.

    This week’s cunundrums:

    Who to captain:
    Ade, VDV, RVP or Silva

    Ship out Bendtner?
If so, bring in The Yak or Rochina……or Ba

    Shotstopper:
    Vorm or Krul?

    Help would be appreciated

RVP if you want to play safe

I did, but his next two fixtures are probably better than Blackburns. I'd hold for the mo.

Tough one, I have the same choice and out of pure bias I picked Krul.

      Captain:
      RVP

Bendtner for Ba if you can do it for free, if not wait for GW 16.

      Shotstopper:
      Vorm

Glad to help, now you can stop questioning yourself on go on with your life.

      Good luck! 🙂

      RvP.

The Yak if you want a punt, Ba for security.

Vorm for save points, as neither are likely to keep cleanies.

Balckburn at 6/5 to beat Swansea. Looking to get on that. Playing at home, Samba back, and the Yak up top. Swansea aren't the same away from home.

    Need some advice, lads..

    Given
    Vorm

    Monk
    Wilkinson
    Barnett
    Simpson
    McAuley

    Nani
    Sessegnon
    Mata
    Allen
    Drenthe

    Rooney
    Van Persie
    Adebayor

    Thinking on Mata -> Bale
    Reasons:
    1. Gareth rises tonight.
    2. Gareth has Bol, Sto, Sun.
    Mata has Newc, Mancity.
    3. Prepering for double GW20.

    Good transfer for me?

hey, you'd get more replies if you laid it out better! instead of a long list which is hard to read put it down like the rest do ie.
      gk's......
      defs......
      mids......
      fwds.....

i think it looks a good transfer as it allow you some free cash to maybe upgrade a defender? also when you have a free transfer maybe downgrade given
