Luis Suarez is given more time to answer his improper misconduct charge. Fergie talks festive rotation, while the injuries pile up for Steve Kean ahead of the weekend game against West Brom.

Sir Alex Ferguson has given Fantasy managers early warning of his Christmas plans, with rotation very much on his mind. The United boss admitted he plans to utilise his squad ahead of a busy run of games over the next few weeks. With the champions facing a favourable run of fixtures, careful, risk-free planning looks essential for those considering their Fantasy assets over the festive period, in order to avoid disappointment:

December is a particularly busy month when we often play eight or nine games. We’ve got a Boxing Day Game, a New Year’s Eve game..it’s going to be a hectic spell and that’s when the squad really kicks in.

The FA has afforded Luis Suarez extra time to answer the improper conduct charge leveled against the Uruguayan following an alleged gesture towards Fulham supporters in the 5/12 Craven Cottage fixture. Suarez had initially been given until 4pm yesterday to respond but the deadline has since been extended. Liverpool have also been granted more time to answer a charge of failing to keep their players in an orderly fashion following the sending off of Jay Spearing in the same fixture.

Anton Ferdinand is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks due to a hamstring problem. The centre-half was subbed off at Anfield on Saturday with the problem and Neil Warnock expects either Fitz Hall or Matthew Connolly to be given a chance in Ferdinand’s absence. Warnock also revealed Heidar Helguson was rested for the trip to Liverpool and will be available to lead the line against Man United. In further QPR injury news, Warnock admitted Paddy Kenny could be available for selection on Sunday, though with Radek Cerny is such strong form, Kenny faces a fight to return to the first XI.

Alan Pardew is optimistic that both Cheick Tiote and Fabricio Coloccini will be available for Newcastle’s home clash with Swansea this weekend. Good news for Pardew in the centre-half area- Mike Williamson will turn out for the reserves tonight as he picks up the pace in his recovery from an ankle injury, though is regarded as “a long shot” for Saturday’s game. Pardew had to play Danny Simpson and James Perch at centre-half in the 4-2 loss at Norwich due to limited options.

Andre Santos is out for three months after undergoing ankle ligament surgery. The Arsenal left-back picked up the problem in last week’s Champions League match in Olympiacos and his loss means Thomas Vermaelen is likely to fill i

Sit which ONE of these guys next GW: Ivanovic, Smalling, Baines, Enrique, C. Adam, or Demps?

Also, start Krul over Vorm for next GW, right?

sturridge owners, i know you're angry but there is no way john terry "was sh*t" or "did nothing."
after forcing aguero back towards the halfway line BUT then getting turned by him before ivanovic buggered up i thought it was arguably the most perfect 88 mins you'll see from a centre back in a big game this season. everything he won or headed doesn't just get f***ed back up the pitch like a shawcross it ends up at a chelsea player (94% of the time to be precise, and no they're not just passes to ivanovic, they're all over the pitch including 60 yards with his left foot to sturridge for the first goal). terry had no clearances that game because they all go down as passes instead such is his composure to find a team mate.

if it was last year's system i'd have given bps to terry, sturridge and romeu (when david silva has no shots and no key passes you have to credit oriel romeu).

also terry's 18 PPI is by no means a big PPI score, especially when as much as half of it comes from being on the winning side for 90mins, if sturridge had just one less shot off target then suddenly he's ahead of terry for bonus.

it doesn't mean i think kompany is a bad option (since getting him gw2 i've not once thought about selling) but if you have the spare cash i don't see an issue getting terry. they had a nice run of clean sheets going with luiz next to him and regardless of the exploits of kompany's shoulder you'd always fancy terry to score more goals. another bonus is due to being part of a lower scoring side there should in thoery be more bps on offer for terry.
wigan as good a fixture as any to do it, although i'd argue it's worth putting it off for 2 weeks to further assess as kompany has stoke at home whilst terry has tottenham the week after.
wouldn't say terry is a bonus darling, if he plays like last night every game he will be (helps when the goalscorers and assisters top up their efforts with shots off target and yellow cards).

I don't dispute JT getting something. But Studge didn't because of one shot off target? Say for instance the one in the 46th minute he chested down beautifully and fizzed *that* far over. I'm sorry but that's GOOD play from a striker, not something to be marked down for. A great shot just wide hurts you, a tame shot down the keeper's throat benefits you. This system is cr@p.

This week I've lost RVP BAPS x2, Vorm BAPS and Sturridge ones. Probably 10 points under last year's system.

Completely agree but I can't see them changing it halfway through the year (or the formula to calculate PPI). Only positives arethat everyone is in the same boat, and it should even out for us over the year.

you could say sturridge's shot off target got him 3 points and x PPI as when he hit lescott's hand his shot was going wide. but yeah in general i agree

No I thought Terry was rightly rewarded, was superb for most of last night and has been in most games recently.
Sturridge probably should have nicked the 1 alongside Balotelli but then I don't think he had a single shot on target did he? Thats quite important for a striker.
End of the day we moan this new system rewards points you already get (assists and goals) with more points and when it doesn't do this for somebody people own everybody moans and whines about it.

Need some help please! With City vs Arsenal, I believe City will be all over them in midfield.

Therefore with 0.3 in the bank, who do I get out for who. I'm wondering if Nani in for Silva or does that have the whiff of bandwagon about it after one easy game?

    My team is:

    Simpson, R. Taylor, M. Richards
    Bale, Walters, Silva, Mata
    Aguero, RVP, Ba.

Subs are Dyer, Kelly and Lopez.

Any thoughts of transfers to make a difference? I'm 12 points behind leader and suspect Cpt choice will be v important! Thanks!

I don't see the attraction of Schwarzer. I don't think he'll score 4 points more than Vorm this w/e and after than Fulham have got Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal in next 4 GW.

Friedel is a bit more expensive but rotates very well with Vorm and also has a double GW coming up. I still wouldn't do it this week though.

Yeah I know what you mean. The problem is I'm losing money on Given, and I really need a back up to Vorm for his away games. Schwarzer is best of a bad bunch (Hennessey/Ruddy/Cerny/Al Habsi) and I do think he has a good chance of a clean sheet this week.

I would get Friedel without question if I could afford him but I'm 0.2 short and have no realistic way of making that without hits.

He's played every 5 games (on average) and kept 3/3 clean sheets. Its not an ideal scenario but it helps on selection and a welcome bonus when he does play.

Selling Sturridge for Adebayor two weeks ago for a hit hasn't turned out as I hoped it would. Dang! I have one FT this week which I could use to replace Dyer. However, I am all twitchy about Ba going mental against Swans, and Sturridge doing something similar against Wigan.

    In my position would you:
    1) Stick with Ade. Spurs have SUN CHE and he appears to be on spots
    2) Ade to Ba to take advantage of SWA and another home game I forget who against
    3) Ade to Sturridge for wig tot.

Selling Ade will cost me 0.3 as I plan to get him back before the DGW.

I am very tempted by the second option tbh.

But bearing in mind the form Ba is in, and how crap Swans are on the road, leads me to believe I might make that up and then some.

One week fixes are always a bad idea. O'Hara has good fixtures but Wolves are poor so I'd steer clear.

Walters and Larsson are both good picks and will both do well over the season, so just pick one and stick with it. I've got Walters but given the choice now I'd probably go Larsson for his free kicks.

Yeah he's a decent Brunt replacement, Brunt has been very disappointing. There just aren't any decent 6.0 mids outside Swansea.

I'd rather have Brunt than Ramsey this week though so leave that one til next week. Get Walters or Larsson (toss a coin) in for Ramsey this week and give yourself more time over the Brunt transfer.

Not keen on o'hara unless they play 1 up top. He's not a great box to box mid imo. He was fooked just after half time in the sunderland game and very lucky to get an assist.

When he's in the hole, he's a great fantsy prospect... hoping Mick plays 4-5-1 at the weekend, because i've got him and have to stick with him for the next 2 games at least.

How to you conclude a question about captain and suggestions is having other people manage a team? Anti Top Four will get sound advice and beat quite a few while not fielding any players from the traditional top four...

Traditional top four? You referring to Liverpool and arsenal? The term is now obsolete.

Advice about how well a player/team has been doing is fair enough. But simply asking who should I captain, and making your captain choice based upon who everybody else is captaining, does mean you are not managing your own team.

This is one of the few game weeks where everybody who has RVP might not auto captain him, so grow a pair and make your own choice.

            65 points week 15
            886 to date

The traditional or classical top 4, as referred to, are still relevant as you are aware and, although not the elitist they once were, and not obsolete.

I would not assume that because one asked, 'who to captain?' they would allow someone to manage their team or making choices based upon everyone else's opinion.

Still relevant how? When they dominated then scoring high without them as you have done (and including it in your posts to show off?) would be quite something. But you can score more points with spurs or city players than you can with Liverpool players.

The name is relevant - tradional top 4 (or classical top 4). Not showing off but showing that Anti Top Four is not managed by others. By end of the season, I'll be fortunate to win mini-leagues and have some good at the water hole.

When are people going to understand that:

Taking point hits in midfielders and forwards is a gamble and sometimes pays off
Taking point hits in defense and goalkeeper is retarded and almost NEVER pays off

Don't do hits for defenders myself, but I can see situations where a hit for a defender would pay off over a few weeks if you need the transfer to sort something else out.

Depends how long term you look though - sometimes a points hit may not pay off the week you do it but the week after. I'm not saying it's a sound strategy but you can't judge a hit by one weeks return only.

You called it 'retarded'. Yes you weren't sure in your convictions so left a little get out clause with 'almost' in front of 'never work' so you can now argue a different line to your original.

lol...it was there all the time... i'm sure of my convictions...that's why I say almost never... like a said bottom, if possible, i would bet that only 15-20% of point hits in defense pay off, but i think it's impossible to analyse that...
this is why I say almost never, and not never... i now it can pay off...but you have to get much more lucky than if you make a pont hit in the attack...

                    So is it still 'retarded'?

Classic example - I took a points hit to get Vermaelen for Gw13 - his scores for me have been 9, 16, 6. Definitely not retarded.

However I also took a points hit to get Baines for Gw14, his points for me have been 2, 2.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, to have blanket rules is both illogical and lazy.

liverpool were odds-on with the bookmakers to get a clean sheet. newcastle were not and the other defender that wouldve been in my 11 (wilkinson/stoke) were also not odds-on to keep a clean-sheet

ummm well thats like saying you were lucky when you captain rooney/rvp and they score 2 goals just because you havent put £100 on it

i thought that over the next 5 weeks those 2 would make up the 4pts and there was a good chance they could on saturday, they did. it was a calculated gamble, like most things are

that's a whole different matter, you changes your denfense for 5 gw.. Plus, you took out and injuried player for the season.... it's a logic sub, and in that case the 4 point hit is understandable... what I don't understand is people taking defenders and goalkeepers out because of only one gw....

I can see the logic in that clean sheets are hard to come by, but there is no actual truth to all this rubbish about you should never take a hit for a GK/DF – as proved above.

You get in the players who you think will score the most points - simples.

To bad we can't analyse transfers... if we did, i'll bet about 65% of the transfers with points hit in the attack and midifeld pay off, and only about 15% in defense and goalkeeping pay off...

What you say basicly is if you chose right it's worth it... that's genius....

Wrong wrong wrong. If the player (keeper, defender, midfielder or striker) you bring in scores 4 more than the one you took out it's not retarded. It's a good transfer. Simple as that.

Well if that's your way of thinking then you should never do a transfer. Ever. As the player you take out could score more than the one you bring in. Whether it's for a hit or not.

If you have say, two decent defenders this week, and three you expect to get battered (i.e. not just lose four clean sheet points, but also -1 for letting in 2 goals) and you can make the trade to someone, for a points hit, who is odds on to keep a clean sheet, why not?

Plus you can set yourself up with defenders who have good fixtures, as opposed to bad fixtures, for the long run. Point hits don't necessarily have to pay off on one week alone. If they allow you to do a plan that you would otherwise not be able to do (players values rising) then surely that's a good thing.

ANY transfer is a 'gamble', if you want to call it that. Some pay off, some don't. Whether it's a defender or a striker, or for a hit or not.

agree with your second opinion abut long week, and like I said above I will try to write that down in the end of my opinion about point hits...

about the first (the 2 + 3 defenders), I would keep the defenders, ore only change one. because it's a chose between, let's imagine:
            6 ; 6 ; 1 ( 1 ; 1) total: 13
            or
            6 ; 6 ; 6 or 2 ( 1 ; 1 ) total 18 or 14
            or
            6 ; 6 ; 6 or 2 ; 6 or 2 (1) hit-4 total 20 or 16 or 12

now, I rarely have a 4 CS defense, but maybe you are better tha me picking defenders... but from this which pays off better? to me is the second one...

Am I exlaining myself clearly? I don't say this things to anoy people off, I like to discuss this things...

I have all the above + Mata and am genuinely stumped by the lot of them. I know I will pick the only one that gets rested or does nothing. Grr.

@Demi, didn’t know you had a PS3, which games do you play? have you played uncharted 3? It’s Awesome, and do you have portal 2?

also, didn’t know mark’s a game industry expert.

I'm not Demi, but I'll reply anyway as I'm a rebel and that's how I roll.

I love the Uncharted games. Probably my favourite games series of this generation.

Uncharted 3 was such a let down up until they fixed the AI and aiming then it was good again, sadly I was like 2hrs from the end by that time!

        Uncharted 2 is a 10/10 game though

I haven't even played Skyrim, but I already have a hatred for it because of the daft "arrow to the knee" rubbish that has taken over the net.

    RMT please...

    Vorm (Krul)
    Jagielka Enrique Jones (Simpson) (Naylor)
    Bale Silva Walters Mata (Moses)
    RVP Ba Adebayor

Also, who would you captain this week? I'm leaning towards Ba or Mata..

    Team atm:

    Vorm - Krul

    Jones - Wilko - Enrique - Verm - BAE

    O´Hara - VDV - Brunt - Drenthe - Dyer

    RVP - Rooney - Ba

Obviously I´m in big trouble, but what I would like to know is your opinion if I should make some transfer this GW(only 1 free 2.6M bank) or stick with this team for this GW(benching Brunt - Dyer - Wilkinson) rolling the transfer for the next GW?

Errr - I don't think your midfield is a mess, as such - but it could do with some tweaks. Right now, Yaya, Mata, Ramires might be good - but I would wait on Nani ...

Yeah was looking at that also but the 2 main reasons I still have Dyer is because he rotates well with O´Hara and makes the perfect bench warmer.

    Afternoon all.

I'm looking for some suggestions for a reasonably cheapish defender. I currently have Jones, Swaylor, Shawx and J Evans. I was thinking Jagielka with two reasonable home games coming up for Everton plus he's a goal threat but Everton's form has been pretty shocking this season.

Alternatively, do you think my other 4 defenders are good enough that my 5th should merely be a 4mil sub?

    Cheers everyone

Might be worth taking a punt on Shotton. As cheap as they come and OOP. Risky, but not such a bad thing at 4m.
