With some favourable fixtures on the horizon, Mick McCarthy will be in confident mood this festive season thanks to the form of Steven Fletcher. The Scotsman has been hampered with calf and groin injuries this season but a haul of 3 goals in his last two games is indicative of his importance to the Wolves cause.

Fletcher has only started eight games for the Molineux outfit this term but has found the net 6 times, including a consolation in last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford. Big Mick admits Fletcher was subbed off as a precautionary measure at Man United, with home clashes against Stoke and Norwich up next:

We need Fletcher fit and we weren’t going to get four goals to win the game so I thought it was wise to take him off. Fletcher’s been terrific – and prolific – when he’s been fit. That’s why I took him off because I need him to be prolific in the next two games as well.

Though a trip to Arsenal will be anything but straightforward, a visit to Bolton will hold no fear, with the Wolves boss looking at three of those four matches as definitely winnable. Certainly, the home fixtures will have been earmarked as crucial and given Wolves’ recent record of 7 points from a possible 9 in their previous three Molineux matches, there’s reason for optimism.

A recent move back to 4-4-2 may have Jamie O’Hara’s owners on edge but Fletcher’s suitors will look upon the fixtures favourably, regardless of formation- he’s also scored against Liverpool and Newcastle, two of the tightest back-lines in the Premier League thus far.

Priced at 5.9 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and owned by just 1.4%, he could prove a handy differential over the next few gameweeks and a viable alternative to the likes of Yakubu, Daniel Sturridge or Demba Ba in the low to mid-price range. If Wolves are to steer clear of the relegation zone, his contribution will be key over the Christmas period.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Again another of those players I'd really like if I had an extra striker slot. loads of quality bargain strikers to have a punt on, very few bargain midfielders though.
Hope they balance the pricing better next season.

Even though it did cross my mind, only a fool would sell silva, soo consistent, nani is really hit and miss, but can be pretty awesome as shown in the last game week, silva isn't that explosive , according to me it would be ideal to have nani, silva and vdv in the mid. mata is consistent but again not that capable of hauling in the huge points apart from that one week he had

I am not too satisfied with my defence (consisting of: Simpson, Jones, Shawcross, Wilkinson and Brown) and am thinking using my 1 free transfer this week so that I have at least two defenders playing at home this weekend.

Thinking of Shawcross out for BAE due to Spurs' good fixtures and their upcoming DGW. Any other suggestions?

Back line confusion here. Planning to play Evans (qpr), Simpson (SWA), Baines (NOR) but this means benching Vermaelen (citeh). Or, I could play the big Belgique, and Bench Walters (wol). Hmm.

I've got it right with Vermaelen bench, yes?

Benching Verm is certainly the more sensible choice given the fixtures. But I think Verms the more interesting choice to play; he's a good player on form and has potential to bring out something special even against city.

I had Verm on the bench earlier this week, but had second thoughts. BAE now sits there and Verm is back in the 11. My reason is that his goal threat is immense for a defender....this guy is breaking scoring records for a defender. BAE may get me 6pts...so I may lose out a little. But Verm can concede and still walk away with a goal and a bp or two.

Anyone think AVB will rotate at Wigan?

Lampard, Ramires and Meireles all 1 yellow away from missing the game at Spurs. Torres to play as he needs form for when Drogba is off to ACON. Maybe Malouda or Kalou to play as well?
